dan1994black Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I am thinking of buying DCS: A-10C Warthog but want to know for sure if it will work, my Laptop specs are: Processor: pentium® Dual-Core T4200 @ 2.00GHz 2.00GHz, RAM: 4GB, Windows Vista - 32 bit. Not to sure on my Graphics tho. Thanks for your help. Dan.
PeterP Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 (edited) even if your GPU is missing - all your posted specifications are below minimum - or just at the edge. So I would say no joy for you with this system. ...even if you will be able to start the simulation. But , Hey! DCS-World and its Su-25T is for free! Download it and have a try: >>> http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?ProductId=21&end_pos=137&scr=product&lang=en Recommended system requirements: Operating system 64-bit: Windows Vista and 7; Processor: CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400, AMD Phenom X3 8750 or better; Memory: 4GB; Hard disk space: 7 GB; Video: Shader 3.0 or better; 896MB NVIDIA GeForce GTX260 DirectX 9.0c or better; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; DirectX: 9.0C; requires internet activation. Minimum system requirements: Operating system: Windows XP, Vista or 7; Processor: Core 2 Duo 2.0 GHz; Memory: 3 GB; Free hard disk space: 7 GB; Video: 512 MB RAM card, DirectX 9 - compatible; Sound: DirectX 9.0c - compatible; requires internet activation. annotation: Minimum system requirements means: it will run (...somehow...) - but don't expect fluent game play , even at minimum options-settings. Lange_666 Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I think it's about time that ED should downgrade the recommended system requirements to the minimum level and then upgrade the recommended ones to a higher level. It would generate a lot less frustration... Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL. Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!
sapam Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I have a 2010 13" MacBook Pro with the following config: CPU - Intel core2Duo 2.4Ghz RAM - 8GB GPU - Nvidia 320M OS - Windows 7 64-bit I got DCS World/A-10C running at the lowest possible setting. And its somewhat playable but wish I had a better config. But just enough juice to run the Sim. sapam Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I would like to Hijack this thread to ask a question from my side. How does DCS A-10 runs on a Late 2012 Mac Mini i7 model? It has Quadcore i7 and Intel 4000 graphics. Obviously it can't handle High graphics setting. But want to hear the experience from people who have tried running DCS A-10 on the said system. Maachine Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 i have an i7 quadcore toshiba laptop with a nvidia 330m. i run about 30 FPS with graphics set to medium. i started a thread recently in the hardware forums and someone helped me figure out that a RAM upgrade would indeed help my case, since my video card does utilize the system ram. the biggest issue with laptops is the video card. it will most likely be the weak link in the system.
sapam Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) It seems Intel's Haswell processor due to come out in 2013, will sport GT3 integrated Graphics which have twice the graphics performance as Intel HD 4000 or Geforce 330M Demo Video: Edited January 11, 2013 by sapam [2012 imac 27" 3.2GHz GTX675MX] [CH Fighterstick] [CH ProPedal] [saitek ProThrottle] [CH Flight Yoke] [TrackIR4 Pro]
Teapot Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I used to run DCS: World on an i5 laptop ... as long as I tweaked the settings to optimize fps and I'd average between 25 - 30 most times ... but here's a BIG but ... this was flying as the only aircraft in the mission. As soon as I loaded a mission with more a bit happening in it, my rig would die. I now fly on a dedicated PC (it's still only an i5 3570) with a mid-range GPU (Radeon HD 7850) and have heaps 'o fun on high settings :D. For DCS, it's definitely worthwhile to make the commitment to get something decent at relatively low cost (I only paid in the vicinity of $750 AU to build mine and could've probably pared it down even more) ... otherwise it becomes an exercise in frustration and pain! "A true 'sandbox flight sim' requires hi-fidelity flyable non-combat utility/support aircraft." Wishlist Terrains - Bigger maps Wishlist Modules - A variety of utility aircraft to better reflect the support role. E.g. Flying the Hornet ... big yawn ... flying a Caribou on a beer run to Singapore? Count me in. Extracting a Recon Patrol from a hastily prepared landing strip at a random 6 figure grid reference? Now yer talking!

schroedi Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 ...and DCS is only supporting two cores. A 2core CPU with 4Ghz is faster in DCS than a 6core with 3Ghz.
Manuel Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 Keep graphic memory in mind. I wouldn't say graphic card is secondary. It is sure 75% as important as cpu. Much more important than ram (if over 4gb) and as important as a 64bit os.
