FlightDeviation Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 After releasing a General Purpose Bomb or a Guided Bomb or a Maverick ... I get this nasty deviation to the right with the A10. Any ideas what Im doing wrong, or how I can fix this? This issue still persists if I try to balance the plane by releasing a bomb from the opposite station side of the wing. Or is their a fuel switch inbalancing the plane, cause Im draining more fuel from the left wing? :pilotfly: Also jettisoning all bombs has no effect to the plane balance.
Hamblue Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 That's normal, Just trim the plane. You'll find turning a bit awkward if you have 2 short on one side. I try to turn with the heavy side down. WildBillKelsoe Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 2 clicks of trim with holding opposite with stick and release should do the trick. Yurgon Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Also jettisoning all bombs has no effect to the plane balance. That sounds really weird. I'm inclined to suggest that you simply need to trim the plane. Obviously, releasing a bomb from one side leads to an asymmetrical payload (assuming the payload was symmetrical prior to release), and that leads to gravity and drag acting more heavily on one side of the aircraft. This needs to be countered with trim. Trim key assignments can be checked under Options -> Controls -> A-10C Sim/Game -> HOTAS. But you said releasing a weapon from the opposite side doesn't help, which should be the case. Also, jettisoning all weapons should correct the problem. However, stores jettison doesn't guarantee a symmetrical payload (some stores will jettison, others won't), so this doesn't necessarily help. You should try to replicate the problem in a short flight, save the track, and then upload the track to the forum so that we can take a look (you may have to "Go advanced"; look for "Manage Attachments"). But again, a rolling tendency after bomb release is to be expected (the same is obviously true for Mavericks and most other weapon types). Fuel imbalance could possibly cause such a behavior, but is unlikely to happen unless you tampered with the fuel system or received damage to a tank. OT: I'm a little unsure whether to use the term "payload" or "loadout" in this case. Also, is it "loadout" or "load-out"? Clarification would be appreciated.
