Cezar11 Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=PKB-078-PB&cat=KYB just got one of these... it's cheap ( $49 ) but has 78 keys that can be programmed with either ascii or key codes .. and you can do macros also ( left ctrl key down, then press "a" ,left ctrl key up then press F5 etc..) I plan on making a cdu interface.. just thought i'd spread the word on this nifty little device. Home built i5 quadcore. dual ATI 4850 in xfire mode. 16GB ram Warthog HOTAS, Thrustmaster Rudder, TrackIR 5, TM MFD's, windows 7 64 ultimate.. 40" primary screen, 19" secondary [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
tintifaxl Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 This look really nice. UFC and CDU on that keyboard would be feasable. Thanks for sharing. Windows 10 64bit, Intel i9-9900@5Ghz, 32 Gig RAM, MSI RTX 3080 TI, 2 TB SSD, 43" 2160p@1440p monitor.
Cezar11 Posted January 24, 2013 Author Posted January 24, 2013 I plan on using using it sideways on my right side.. I already have a good printout of the CDU keyboard and I plan on cutting out each letter to put on the keys. ( the keys have clear covers that come off so you can put whatever you want on the key ) the way i'm going to mount it, it will be a 6 row by 13 column keyboard.... should be very nice :) Home built i5 quadcore. dual ATI 4850 in xfire mode. 16GB ram Warthog HOTAS, Thrustmaster Rudder, TrackIR 5, TM MFD's, windows 7 64 ultimate.. 40" primary screen, 19" secondary [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
agrasyuk Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Nice find. Keep in mind however that DCS can be very iffy about keyboard macros. You will need some way to explicitly send wait statements between key press and key release. So if you doing Ctrl modified key it will look like: KeyDown ctrl, wait 15milisecond, keydown X. , wait, key up X and so on. Otherwise DCS will not see the macros. Try it with regular programmable device you might have (Logitech g keyboards, nostomo pad, etc) Anton. My pit build thread . Simple and cheap UFC project
Trubshaw Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Good point agrasyuk. I had to put a delay like that in when programming my X-Keys keyboard for DCS to work properly. Would love to see a photo of your key board when you have got it set up Cezar11 Mine looks like this for Black Shark [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] TrubshawRN -=SHREK 94=-
cltmmm Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Did you test if it actually works in Win 7 x64? I bought a high end Cherry POS Keyboard (http://www.cherrycorp.com/english/keyboards/POS/SPOS_Rows_Columns/index.htm - Look at all those buttons!) and it only worked in BS in 32bit mode. I have no idea why. I spent weeks with tech support before giving up. It is gathering dust on the floor right now.
agrasyuk Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 Cltm, I'd guess your macros didn't contain the delay ;) Anton. My pit build thread . Simple and cheap UFC project
Feuerfalke Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 I doubt that it will be easier with so many buttons. X-Keys hardware is very nice. You can place these on your monitor: http://www.piengineering.com/xkeys/xk16stick.php This one is nice as well: http://www.piengineering.com/xkeys/xk12Joystick.php MSI X670E Gaming Plus | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 64 GB DDR4 | AMD RX 6900 XT | LG 55" @ 4K | Cougar 1000 W | CreativeX G6 | TIR5 | CH HOTAS (with BU0836X-12 Bit) + Crosswind Pedals | Win11 64 HP | StreamDeck XL | 3x TM MFD
cltmmm Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 No, I had the delays and everything else in there. The problem was phantom keystrokes that the Cherry POS Keyboards inject in the stream. They also press the keys out of order of what you actually have programmed. The tech support admitted that this was a design decision and that for low-performance, e.g. POS systems, it does not matter. In the case with BS2 that is reading the full keyboard queue with great precision, it screws it up.
Cezar11 Posted January 25, 2013 Author Posted January 25, 2013 it works fine in x64.. you need a 32bit O/S to program it.. but once that's done... you can take it anywhere... the x-key stuff is way too $$$... i'd build my own first with a couple 32 button usb game controllers..
