I don't have TIR and am not sure whether this has been asked before... Is it possible to have the hat switch view buttons lock the view at certain angles.

For example 8 switch positions would lock at 45 degree intervals for instant viewing, and other buttons for up and down. A combination of these buttons selects the view. Trying to DF when you view runs away from you is .. crazy!

I'm just wondering as there seems to be a lot of LUA in DCS.. maybe there's a view script.. Maybe one can script the whole joystick input?

Thanks for any help.

Try FaceTrackNoIR.

http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/home/default.htm

It's free and seems to work.

And it's compatible with DCS.

You just need a web-cam.

Here is a relatively meaningless video - but you get an idea of it. :music_whistling:

No idea how to do the setup.

I use TiR.

But there will be someone in the forum who can help you I think. :smartass:

Thanks.. Face track looks interesting.. I've give that a go.

Edt: Tried it.. bombs on installation = no good?

Maybe the original hat switch (view angle lock) idea is simpler and will work, if available.

Hmm, what do you mean your view runs away from you? Once you pan to a particular angle, the camera should stay in that position until you pan it elsewhere. There may some camera movement as part of the "natural head movement" model reacting to G forces and moments, but you can toggle this on/off any time with the LWin+F1 command.

Also there are snap views, which you can customize, but only 10 of them.

Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer.

Resolved the snapview issue... just a few minor things to sort out, like how to assign rudders to buttons (don't have working pedals at the mo).

Here's a track of my first DF (in the single missions) with views 'working'.. I haven't assigned keys for engine management yet, so I drove the engine till it was kaput. Running on auto-rudder is frustrating toomegalol.gif
