Hello All,

I have been searching the forums and I haven't found an answer to what I am experiencing. When I am flying the A-10 and have my throttles pushed to full, the bird only cruises at about 254 KIAs. When I am diving I get up into the 300s, but once I level off, it slowly drops back. Am I doing something wrong? I have the logitech G940 and have calibrated to ensure my throttles are at 100%. Thanks for the help in advance,

A10 isnt really capable of going highspeed... Its not a supersonic jet. I dont remember what is A10Cs maximum cruising speed with and without loadout but i doubt it ecxeeds 300kias.

Yeah, I had looked up the specs, I know the A-10 isn't fast, I believe that 300 is cruising and 450 is never exceed (I am guessing with less efficiency).

300KIAS isn't "cruise" speed, cruise is around 220KIAS dependent on weight. 300KIAS is combat speed at low level, you won't see 300KIAS at altitude unless clean.

The main factor determining max airspeed is drag, not weight. You may only have loaded a few stores, but if they are weapons that have a high drag index they will reduce you max airspeed more than lower drag heavier stores.

For example, 2 CBU-87s have twice as much drag as 4 Mk-82s.

Indeed, both the BRU-42 and LAU-88 add a lot of drag. 0.74 and 0.5 respectively (without any weapons on them), compared to just 0.14 for a Mk-82LD or GBU-38.

Can you post a list of drag values for A10s weapons and launchers pls ?

Thanks for all the responses everyone. I was basing my speed assumptions on the specs I found on the Airforce's website. It could be the language they used that led me astray. I'll look up what drag values equate to as far as lost speed and plan my payload accordingly. I know it isn't a huge deal, but when every second counts, I want to get to my digital brothers and sisters in arms as quickly as possible in order to limit friendly casualties. It may sound silly, but I feel bad when friendly vehicles are lost in battle.
