Drippy Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Hey, So I have around 30+ hrs. of flight time and have been wanting to get online and fly. Is there any general rules to follow? or do I just find a non locked server with a good ping and jump in?. I do not have TS right now my mic is on the fritz. Also are this missions similar to the campaign?. or does it just depend what the server is running?. Any good training servers?. Thanks, Drippy
JG14_Smil Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Hi Drippy, Yes, you can just join and fly. Servers run different missions so each one can be different. Sometimes training or free flight missions gets mixed in. A server has to be well run, or you will see many types who exist only to troll internet boards and screw up online play. My favorite is Eno's server free flight mission.
Pizzicato Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 The 104th's server is generally really good, too. That's where I took my first nervous steps into the world of online flying and I've since met a whole load of really friendly, patient, helpful people. You don't need to be an expert at all and no one's judgmental about your skills as long as you don't go intentionally causing trouble. Oh, and TS isn't a requirement, either. My advice - jump on in and start enjoying yourself. i7-7700K @ 4.9Ghz | 16Gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz | MSI Z270 Gaming M7 | MSI GeForce GTX 1080ti Gaming X | Win 10 Home | Thrustmaster Warthog | MFG Crosswind pedals | Oculus Rift S
Sarge55 Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 What Pizzicato said. And, a couple of points since you do not have TS up and running yet. Read the briefing carefully (if there is one) often sets out some basic rules for the server. Use the ATC (F5) to find out which is the active runway and direction for take off and landing. Nothing worse than having a head on on the runway. And mostly, no "asshattery" like taking off from the taxi ways, shooting at other aircraft on the ground (unless it's part of the scenario) that sort of thing. Welcome to online flying, it's great.
