Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Setting turbulence to the max available 60 value(which get's multiplied by a factor I can't remember now), gives me no noticeable turbulence. I can set the strongest crosswinds and still no go. Winter / Summer ... raining or not, I get no turbulence, or at least something I can identfy as turbulence, making the landings / takeoffs way too smooth.... Was it allways like this in DCS World? Will the new scenery / weather engine enhance weather effects including this one? Is there a tweak to get your aircraft properly bouncing die to turb at least near ground ? Inseckt Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 With the standard weather setting, turbulence is bound to altitude "bands". IIRC the first one is 0 to 1000 m, and if the airport is above 1000, you won't notice any turbulence... My theory anyway... Madone Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Hi, IRCC, you also have to set some wind to get the turbulences working. Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 Well, thx for your replies. I tried it from Batumi (so almost sea level) and with moderate to strong winds. I used the p51d and the a10c. None suffered any realistic bounces from turbulence. Yes they have to be flown according to the crosswind sideslip / fwslip techniques, but it is piece of cake to takeoff and land because ther is no shaking at all, at least that I can notice.... Very strange? Flight Simulation is the Virtual Materialization of a Dream...
sobek Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Did you set any turbulence? Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted February 21, 2013 Author Posted February 21, 2013 Did you set any turbulence? Yes, winds 15m/s or more Turbulence set to 60 (the biggest value I can set using the arrows), which I suppose is then multiplied a given factor. FishBike Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 I have a mission I've been working on where the winds are set at 0 but the turbulence is 60 (which gets divided by 10 to give 6 m/s). It's quite noticeable but maybe not what people think of as "turbulence". It's more like wind gusts, and they do indeed get lighter and then disappear altogether with increasing altitude.

My theory anyway... that was exactly what came to my mind as well....when i tried out turbulences, they worked and were very noticeable...you probably just have to consider the altitudes as well!
Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 Ok. Thx for your answers. I'll do my best to try at different aerodromes during this weekend ;-) I will report back my findings. Flight Simulation is the Virtual Materialization of a Dream...
Anatoli-Kagari9 Posted February 23, 2013 Author Posted February 23, 2013 Well, changed the default Batumi Takeoff mission, set the wind to around 16m/s at ground level, and turbulence factor to 60. I was finally able to feel it :-). It's not as huge as I would like it to be, but still tricky enough to add some pepper to my landings :-) So, apparently there is a limit layer of and it is not relative to GL but rather to SL... But it is there!!!! Thx for all of your posts ;-) Flight Simulation is the Virtual Materialization of a Dream...
