Hello... few days ago I bought a GTX 660 card so I tried to activate some "graphic features" of DCS World that were dissabled on my old GTX 460 for FPS reasons... but somehow they are not there anymore.

I tried searching the forums and tweaking the settings for last two days but to no avail.

I said in "Ricardo's New Blue HD Pit for Ka50" thread that it seems that anisotropic filtering is disabled and I wasn't meaning only in Ka50 cockpit is this.... but everywhere.

Then I thought that maybe the Anisotropic filtering level was never modified... maybe is fixed but the HDR settings are... tweaked.

So... my question... is anyone still having this kinda view?

and

I think this small glowing effect of the warm/cold HDR was making the gauges more filtered and nice.

But now that effect is gone.

It looks like this now (all it disturbs me is that "resize no filter" on gauges/labels textures)

And.... as a side note... The fence around Gudauta airfield is ugly and white now with GTX 660 as oppose to ugly but black/dark with GTX 460. Also some ladders and rails on buildings have strange transparency issues... like lack of it or bad effect.

Here is a picture where you can see the fence from Gudauta and in background you can see a moded TV tower placed on the airfield that has very nice transparency and no problems at all.

and the bad transparency on fuel... big barrels :)

And these are my settings:

Thanks for your help.

I don't know if it has changed but I read some time back to use MSAA or TSAA but not both. Also Looks better for me with HDR off. But I have an ATI Card. I do not see the effects you have and all settings are on high with MSAA on 8XQ. I have none of these issues. You might also try adaptive Multisampling if you have that option....Danged nVidia Curse

thanks I'll try your advice.

PS My picture was resized from 1980x1080 to the size is now... 1600x900 and that "resize no filter" effect is a bit less visible... but when I move my head around those pixels are getting into my brain and explode :D .

try this

antialising transparency- off

texture filtering negative LOD bias -allow

if there is no change update to the newest driver apply the above settings again.

in case you do have the newest reinstall it

That transparency is issue with textures not your settings, the texture itself doesn't have alpha layer I think (very old textures)

Dont know why this would bother you in a flight sim as you arent running around looking at the things you have mentioned but flying above so wont see it.

Thanks for replies guys.

I was ready to say the same but somehow I remembered it wasn't that bad with GTX460. We play a semi campaign that has base of operations at Gudauta and I was unconsciously used to not see that ugly flickering aliased fence.

Maybe a mod for it then...

Dont know why this would bother you in a flight sim as you arent running around looking at the things you have mentioned but flying above so wont see it.

The fence is in my eyes when I start on Gudauta... burns my retina :) And the gauges are readable with a bit of difficulty without filtering on them...

antialising transparency- off

texture filtering negative LOD bias -allow

No change.... I'll try a driver reinstall but I did install it "clean"... or so it said.

Nope... no change but FXAA is just a quicker AA afaik.

I did observed that that glow appears in Cold HDR but still no filtering on gauges and texts and... of course, no change in Gudauta fence.

The 3 HDR settings in game have different effects with glow, contrast, sharpness etc, its why you see glow on one setting not on the other. I don't know exactly which setting does what but I do know they are all different settings and as far as I know you can edit the values to your liking by modifying the HDR.lua file.

asticher, I see the HDR "glow/bloom" effect on textures appear only on cold preset and I'm guessing it depends on mission time/hour and maybe weather. Try 12:00 and make it warm or cold and see.

Returning to my bad texture filtration quality... looking at this got me wondering....

What if DCS force FXAA?

Can someone confirm?

And if so... how could we bypass it?

I think some of the bad texture filtering effects are due to the lack of mip maps in some of the textures. Like on gauges or other ones.

Maybe the graphic engine/graphic drivers was supposed to make automatically the mip maps but it doesn't (in my case at least)...

So in the case of Richardo new Blue HDKa50 cockpit I solve it by creating mip maps for some of the textures that didn't had.

Now that effect is gone in this case. The labels from radio switch and windows charts are now smoothed.
