The LT Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 Hello community! I am trying to watch an instructional track "Takeoff Demonstration" for the P-51D tutorials. For some reason, the instructor veers off the runway and crashes spectracularly. I've tried to enable Auto-rudder and take-off assists but it didn't help. :) Any idea why this is happening? :) My controls & seat Main controls: , BRD-N v4 Flightstick (Kreml C5 controller), TM Warthog Throttle (Kreml F3 controller), BRD-F2 Restyling Bf-109 Pedals w. damper, TrackIR5, Gametrix KW-908 (integrated into RAV4 seat) Stick grips: Thrustmaster Warthog Thrustmaster Cougar (x2) Thrustmaster F-16 FLCS BRD KG13 Standby controls: BRD-M2 Mi-8 Pedals (Ruddermaster controller) BRD-N v3 Flightstick w. exch. grip upgrade (Kreml C5 controller) Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle Pilot seat
Krupi Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) Did you set the rudder to 5-6 degrees to the right? This will help straighten the aircraft on take off. If that does not help check your controls I bet that there is a problem there. EvilBivol-1 Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 This is because the track was recorded on earlier builds and there have been changes to the FM since, so it no longer plays back correctly. We've already recorded a new track using the current model, but unfortunately it didn't make it into the 1.2.3 update. It will be included with v.1.2.4. Here is the track so you can view it manually or, if you wish, replace the old track with this one. You can find the takeoff demonstration track in \Mods\aircrafts\P-51D\Missions\EN\Training\Aircraft Operation\3.takeoff-demo.trk - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The track is actually controlled by a pre-recorded instructor. :) My controls & seat Main controls: , BRD-N v4 Flightstick (Kreml C5 controller), TM Warthog Throttle (Kreml F3 controller), BRD-F2 Restyling Bf-109 Pedals w. damper, TrackIR5, Gametrix KW-908 (integrated into RAV4 seat) Stick grips: Thrustmaster Warthog Thrustmaster Cougar (x2) Thrustmaster F-16 FLCS BRD KG13 Standby controls: BRD-M2 Mi-8 Pedals (Ruddermaster controller) BRD-N v3 Flightstick w. exch. grip upgrade (Kreml C5 controller) Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle Pilot seat

Thank you for the track file. :) Edited February 28, 2013 by The LT typo My controls & seat Main controls: , BRD-N v4 Flightstick (Kreml C5 controller), TM Warthog Throttle (Kreml F3 controller), BRD-F2 Restyling Bf-109 Pedals w. damper, TrackIR5, Gametrix KW-908 (integrated into RAV4 seat) Stick grips: Thrustmaster Warthog Thrustmaster Cougar (x2) Thrustmaster F-16 FLCS BRD KG13 Standby controls: BRD-M2 Mi-8 Pedals (Ruddermaster controller) BRD-N v3 Flightstick w. exch. grip upgrade (Kreml C5 controller) Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle Pilot seat

outlawal2 Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 I had a similar incident during my flight training in a Robinson R22... I was handling the Collective only and the instructor had the cyclic. Practicing pickups and set downs and after 4 or 5 with no issue... Picked er up... And all Hell broke loose.. Never did figure out exactly what happened or why, but the damn thing veered hard left and the skid hit the ground... Dynamic Rollover... Rotor pieces thru the canopy, stuck in my seat belt and had to cut my way out and then exit the helicopter thru the broken canopy.. Instructor had broken collarbone.. (due to my resting on top of him with the helicopter on it's side..) All in all not recommended! NO IDEA what happened. That was at about hour #5 of training... (A LOT more sedate from then on thankfully..) ;O) "Pride is a poor substitute for intelligence." RAMBO
The LT Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Wow, thats serious!!! Didn't the instructor elaborate later? :) My controls & seat Main controls: , BRD-N v4 Flightstick (Kreml C5 controller), TM Warthog Throttle (Kreml F3 controller), BRD-F2 Restyling Bf-109 Pedals w. damper, TrackIR5, Gametrix KW-908 (integrated into RAV4 seat) Stick grips: Thrustmaster Warthog Thrustmaster Cougar (x2) Thrustmaster F-16 FLCS BRD KG13 Standby controls: BRD-M2 Mi-8 Pedals (Ruddermaster controller) BRD-N v3 Flightstick w. exch. grip upgrade (Kreml C5 controller) Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle Pilot seat
outlawal2 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Absolutely.. We went over the incident ad nauseam, but we never really determined why the thing veered left like it did.. We both have a suspicion that maybe a maintenance issue as it had it's 100 hour work a few days before.. But no way to really know for sure.. (Hell the instructor could have been napping, but I don't think so... I trusted this guy and continued to trust and fly with him after the incident as well.) He has since moved on and is flying an S-76 for PHI in the Gulf... "Pride is a poor substitute for intelligence." RAMBO
