Exorcet Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 Just something I was thinking about since the number of DCS modules will hopefully explode within the next couple of years. You can't count on everyone having every module. Right now in online missiles you assign an aircraft a place in the mission and anyone that takes it slot gets that plane. What if instead, you add a type of plane (fighter, bomber) to a mission and then tack on to it a list of aircraft to chose from. So player 1 enters the mission, he only has DCS F-18. When he goes to the fighter slot the F-15 is grayed out and he picks the Hornet. Player 2 joins later and goes for the same slot. He only has DCS F-15 and so when he jumps in, he can't select the F-18, but can choose the Eagle. Sierra99 Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I thought they were discussing using triggers to do something like this in the mission builders corner....but I'll be stamped if I can find it. Ya might try posting this there. sierra [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Primary Computer ASUS Z390-P, i7-9700K CPU @ 5.0Ghz, 32GB Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 @ 3200Mhz, ZOTAC GeForce 1070 Ti AMP Extreme, Samsung 970 EVO M.2 NVMe drives (1Tb & 500 Gb), Windows 10 Professional, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS, Thrustmaster Warthog Stick, Thrustmaster Cougar Throttle, Cougar MFDs x3, Saitek Combat Rudder Pedals and TrackIR 5. -={TAC}=-DCS Server Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3, i7-3770K CPU @ 3.90GHz, 32GB G.SKILL Ripjaws DDR3 @ 1600Mhz, ZOTAC GeForce® GTX 970.
Home Fries Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 I know you can use triggers to insert AI aircraft when players don't choose a client aircraft, but I'm not sure how you would use a trigger to change a client's options. -Home Fries My DCS Files and Skins My DCS TARGET Profile for Cougar or Warthog and MFDs F-14B LANTIRN Guide
JG14_Smil Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 (edited) I don't get it, but others must if you are getting +1''s... what possible gain is it if player #2 has to choose from the same slot? Mission builder sets what planes enter a mission, regardless of what modules anyones owns. You seem to be asking for a setup like ROF or any other arena type MP. Apples and oranges, no? Exorcet Posted March 7, 2013 Author Posted March 7, 2013 Mission builder sets what planes enter a mission, regardless of what modules anyones owns. Exactly. Right now, you can only select one plane per slot. I was thinking that it might be helpful to have a few slots that could offer different aircraft depending on server needs/wants and the number of modules available. The host would limit what aircraft could be selected from a slot. It could be 1 plane, it could be 2, it could be every module. When a client connects, they fill that slot and select from the planes the host assigned to that slot.
