All i got to say to this is I have been a gamer for life, I have seen the aircraft sims grow , always been interested in them and Lock on was the one that offered the quality and realism I was looking for and now its my favorite :)

I liked Lock On from day 1 - after 3 years on Janes F/A-18 I switched to LockOn and have been flying it daily ever since and I am still learning.

Relax guys, it was obvious he was one of Galen's fanbois from the first sentence in his first post. The first thing he does is slam the missile performance when several of them have been classified. Only a real fighter pilot who has used them knows the real story.

I gots to laff at the button pushers who fancy themselves one of them thar fighter pilots that could just hop in a real F16 and take off. Comedy gold!

wow the graphics are impressive.... too bad they spent so much time on them the FM is absolute crap. Did the devs think that they were creating a good game? It sure doesnt qualify to be a sim.... It seems rather crappy that they dumbed down the slammer and gave the Russian jets a boost.... ironic really.

LOL!!! The FM is absolute crap? You're saying this in comparison to that of F4? Well...I guess that rules you out as someone who has actually flown a real plane. Now...LOMACs aircraft are a little too tolerant of landing mistakes, but, overall, its a good FM...MUCH better than that of F4. F4 SP4.2 is getting closer to reality, but LOMACs is still closer. I like both sims, but, trust me, if you're using FM as a comparison between the two, you are DEFINITELY barking up the wrong tree. How would I know? Oh...only from 13 years of actual flying. :icon_butt

Spelling and grammar are tolerably comprehensible, and I like a message that gets right to the point... Too bad there's so little meaningful content here. Don't get me wrong, I like a good debate as much as the next guy and have the time to respond... and I like criticizing Lock On even more! I could put up with one or two snippy unsupported statements that were true, or even honest mistakes, but this boy isn't even trying... couldn't find a fact in a library, and doesn't seem to care who knows it.

If you want a REAL post, take a look at something written by GOYA or Konkussion... those guys know how to deliver a critique that hits the spot. After reading the above, I'm just left feeling that I want my ten seconds back. What was the developer of this message thinking? Maybe the AF boys got bored and punted him over to us?

Going back to other posters, with whom the life is good... :)

"I don't have Falcon 4, so I can't comment on their A-10 flight model.

I do have LOMAC, and their A-10 flight model is the best I've ever experienced in a computer sim.

That said, in LOMAC a fully loaded A-10 is too slow on the deck. In Europe, (sea level and cool) we could routinely fly low-level at high gross weights at 360 KIAS. The LOMAC hog will only go about 320.

If I recall correctly, the LOMAC world is hotter than a standard day -- which may account for some of it. At Nellis in August (high and hot), 320 KIAS was about the best you could hope for."

So much for the various internet FM experts. Sorry that I take a real life A-10 pilot's opinion over that any day. No offense Gambit, but I also think it's questionable that you feel qualified to comment on Lock On's "realism" (quite a broad term actually, but it's not uncommon that it's used in such a meaningless way as you do) when you were recently surprised that the A-10 doesn't even have a radar.

There's nothing wrong with not liking LOMAC, it certainly does have its shortcomings. But if you start a discussion about that, at least make sure you know what you're talking about :)

I don't care if he takes offense at this or not but I think he's either an old hand at F4 and is just trying to wind us up or he's new to F4 and thinks he can get some kind of kudos with the F4 crowd by blasting Lockon in the ED forums. Problem is his arguments are so crap I can bet even the craziest F4 fanboi is probably thinking ".. for the love of God Gambit .. please stay off our side" ;).

He could always go over to diesimfanboi and hump the legs over there.

Gambit, try doing a Knife's Edge pass in AF (if you don't know what that manouver is, never mind my post :D ), then come complain about LockOn's FM, which certainly has some fallacies but it sure does suspend my disbelief ;) Particularly after the SU25T FM, there's hardly a match for FM of LockOn.

On a second note, Falcon's sophistication and glamour is hardly in FM. It's the campaign and avionics/electronic warfare simulation that distinguishes Falcon. (btw, F4+BMS2+HFFM is light years ahead of AF, which has been a few steps back in many aspects, particularly the FM)

To DSF's credit, he'd liekly be laughed out of there too if he said what he said here.

Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D

I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
