You thought im a noob and i dont know how to startup the engines right?

Well, i know how to start them.

Last night i got hit by a sam. Both my engines caught fire. I pulled the fuel shutoff handles and used the fire extinguisher. I started the APU in the air to get some power to the systems and landed the aircraft at a nearby airfield. After i got repaired by the ground crew i tried to start the engines again. However, i wasnt able to. The engines began to spin but they didnt burn any fuel. I had pushed in the shutoff valves at that time. I even reactivated everything. So im pretty sure the boost pumps and the inverter were on. I tried failed startup procedure from the manual, it didnt work.

I tried to reactivate the APU. But once the APU was down, it didnt start again. It spooled up to 60% and then falled off again. It never fired any fuel on that startup attempts.

Here is my question: Why didnt the engines restart and why didnt the APU restart? What can i do to get them start after an emergency shutdown and repair?

After repair, you should be good to go. Also, post a .trk file or it didn't happen :) Actually, a .trk file will help in diagnosing what went wrong. More than likely it was a switch you thought was on but wasn't. This happened to me last week. Couldn't get my APU going, and when it did, it would spool part way then shut down. Found my inverter switch off.

I experienced a simillar problem yesterday.

My left engine got hit by a Shilka, burning and full stop. I landed and got repaired, after that, my APU was acting weird, starting up breaking down and so on.

Sadly i recorded no track, but i can confirm this!

This happened in multiplayer last night. If DCS is automatically generating tracks then i should be able to find it but if it doesnt, i dont have it.

Did you check the spark plugs? :D

Known issue. There's a few threads about it....

Some say that it's realistic that it doesn't repair the engines. I say it's stupid to repair everything but the engines...

I like the repair option so I can keep my markpoints, but I now just accept the fact that if I'm coming in with a dead engine I'm just going to have to get a new plane.

well if you want to consider real life....if you get hit and both engines are on fire.....you call in a repair......you think the repair can be done quickly? doubt it....you roll into a base and cant fire up your engines......that means the repair will take much more time and you'll have to shut down the mission in real life.

Sure but it will take longer for you to get in another plane than it takes in the sim. IMO the repair option is intended to repair the whole aircraft. This includes every system. Even the unimportant ones like the engines ;)

My thoughts exactly... I have no idea why some people view this as a feature. Airframe damage should be unreparable by the same logic.

I had engine damage last night and all repaired well.

I have had a couple of times in the past where it took a while and some patience to get them started. Biggest cause though is not having the throttles to the full off position before restarting.
