in2tech Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 Alright so I have been using DCS World to some extent and than just happen to sign onto DCS when they had there big sale and purchased the A10 and the KA-50. Since I am using a MacBook Air with bootcamp and Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate, this thing is rocking and rolling. Really surprised how well it works :) Anyway I am having to rebind alot of keys since I don't have a traditional Windows PC and an extended keyboard on my MBA. I am trying to go through some of the tutorials and am having issue's, such as the A10 startup tutorial. First off are the throttle's clickable with a mouse? If they are I can't get them to work but all the other clickable knobs. button's, etc...appear to work for me with the mouse. The next question is I have assigned keys to Left and Right Throttle up but should it be the Throttle Up and Down Step key's I should bind? Must say I am totally confused right now! I am a Newbie again......wahhhh! Ohh now I remember the days of just getting FSX and learning everything. Like a baby learning to walk again :) Thanks!

in2tech Posted April 2, 2013 Author Posted April 2, 2013 (edited) LIke I said I don't have those keys on my MacBook Air and therefore I have to reprogram different keys to get this to work. And for some strange reason I can't get this to work! Now I am wondering do I program the Start Procedure keys or the Throttle Left Step Up and Right keys to get it to work? zerver Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 In order to start engines in A-10C you have to push throttle from OFF to IDLE. This can be done with keyboard (or if you bound keys to stick/whatever) only. Throttle is not clickable. Rebind keys called “Engine Start Left” (RALT+HOME) and “Engine Start Right” (RCTRL+HOME), to whatever you want/can and then try again starting engines. Note: if you already bound your throttle axis, you have to pull it down to 0, before pressing those buttons, or they wont work.

Everytime I go through a tutorial I have to back out reprogram keys start it again, back out reprogram keys, etc... You get the point since I am using a different laptop and keyboard :) One of these days I am going to make it through an entire tutorial! I appreciate the help everyone. This is going to be awesome once I can get far enough to actually learn the setup and stuff. Never owned a simulator like this, and loving it! Really like the detail of the systems and such, although I curse them sometimes only because I am new to the DCS World systems and aircraft's, for the most part! Edited April 2, 2013 by in2tech
Mt5_Roie Posted April 2, 2013 Posted April 2, 2013 What flight stick are you using? Get an x52 and just get a profile that has pretty much everything mapped on there for you. If you want to spend the money at least it will greatly make it easier for you since you are a laptop, more comfortable too. Coder - Oculus Rift Guy - Court Jester
pii Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Get an TM Warthog and just has everything mapped on there for you. . Fixed that for you:thumbup: Yeah I know it cost more :D:joystick: But its the best damn HOTAS on the planet, not to mentions its the perfect fit for this sim. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go start the hog the way she was meant to be started...:D...................................... The hog is making dinner so I'm going to go play A-10c for awhile instead. Later Guys!
