howie87 Posted April 18, 2013 Posted April 18, 2013 Not getting F-15 buddy spikes on the RWR any more in 1.2.3. Also noticed the fuel gauge test button now shows one tank being slightly emptier after the update.
Hamblue Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Happened to me several times and as a result I stopped flying in servers with fast movers. I was told that it is normal and is because the F-15 uses a pulse radar. Asus Sabertooth P67 Motherboard 2600k CPU, 16 gig DDR3, 1600. howie87 Posted April 21, 2013 Author Posted April 21, 2013 As far as I know the A-10C uses the AN/ALR-69 RWR, the same as fitted to the F-16 and should be able to detect pulse doppler radar signatures.
howie87 Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 Can anyone else confirm this is a bug and not a feature?
159th_Falcon Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I believe it depends on the radar's operating mode. If its in TWS locking a target won't give a lock warning on the targets RWR. If in ILV locking a target WILL give a lock warning on the targets RWR. No expert on the F-15 by any means though so can be VERY wrong here. secret1962 Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) I remember getting a missile warning on the rwr while flying the a-10... no aircraft was detected though... pretty funny as the missile just came out from nowhere. Is it supposed to be like this ? Edited April 26, 2013 by secret1962
Mustang Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) This is a known and listed bug on the ED bug database so hopefully it'll get some attention. Edited April 26, 2013 by Mustang
GGTharos Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 A spike is an STT track. Are you saying that when friendly F-15's go STT on you you do not get a radar lock warning? You'll only get nails if the radar is in any search mode, including designated TWS modes. Not getting F-15 buddy spikes on the RWR any more in 1.2.3. Also noticed the fuel gauge test button now shows one tank being slightly emptier after the update. Mustang Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 All aircraft radars are affected by this bug, the A-10C RWR will fail to see anything other than surface based radars and missile launches.
blkspade Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 On the topic of F-15C, A-10C interactions, there is also the NCTR bug. http://104thphoenix.com/
Evil.Bonsai Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I remember getting a missile warning on the rwr while flying the a-10... no aircraft was detected though... pretty funny as the missile just came out from nowhere. Is it supposed to be like this ? An IR missile will do exactly that.
howie87 Posted April 26, 2013 Author Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) I'm pretty sure I get Su27/Mig29 RWR warnings in the A-10, from AI controlled aircraft... I'm not sure about player controlled. I know that in 1.2.2 the RWR in the A10 would show a F-15 symbol when hit by the F-15 search radar and a 'spike' (circle around the symbol) when another player locked me in STT (should this happen in TWS as well?). This has however ceased to work in 1.2.3. Just for clarification, nails means a symbol on the RWR and spike means the symbol within a circle on the RWR (indicating a lock)? All this bugging/tracking/locking targets and nails/spike talk gets confusing quickly for ground pounder like me! p.s thanks for the input Mustang. Glad to hear it's on the known bugs list. GGTharos Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Spike means a lock, as in specifically, an STT track. It's a hostile action. There may be other indicators An aircraft using TWS will only present nails.
