_Dredd Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 (edited) Certainly is possible. Unfortunately I think theres alot of threads on the subject you'll need to search for, as there is no real one thread sticky on the process. Disable Nvidia surround(or you may be able to keep this scenario with an additional monitor screen)and start here on PeterP's thread. You'll need to start with learning the magic of SoftTH. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71710&highlight=Multi+monitor Also check out MadTommy's on DCS MultiMonitor Support http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=1022117&postcount=1 Then move on to exports. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=71831 Then move on to Helios when ready. Take your time to read things, then read over, then read again. It can seem confusing, but in the end it really is simple. Myself and others could probably set this up for you pretty quick, but I'm sure all would encourage you take a leap first and try configure this from your end first and foremost to ease explanations and questions you' ll have later. No hard feelings... LAB Posted April 30, 2013 Author Posted April 30, 2013 thanks for a good answer .. I'll try with softTH, Obutto r3volution Asus sabertooth x79 / CPU: i7-3820 cooled with antec 920 /intel520 180gb SSD/ 16gb DDR3 2133mhz / 2x GigabyteGTX670-OC SLI / TM Warthog HOTAS + MFD Cougar / Saitek Combat Rudder / 3x 27" BenQ and 22" LG
metalnwood Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Softth is not a requirement to do it, Mad tommy's link is required and thats the only thing you need to do. The third link is to EMC but it has not worked in some time. I would just read the second link, forget softth as you have never used it before and then revisit it if you find you need to use it for some reason but you may save yourself a headache getting by without it first.
_Dredd Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 (edited) Unless you want three viewports for three screens instead of one that covers the three spanned, you should use SoftTH. Otherwise when using TrackIR, your view axis will be all screwy when panning. Plus you can't compensate for bezel margins. Unless I've missed something completely? Exports: here you go , this is better to look at: http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/145724/ Edited April 30, 2013 by _Dredd Current Flight Rig i7 4960X @ 4.6Ghz ASUS Rampage IV Formula G.SKILL TridentX 2400Mhz 32GB DDR3 Crucial 1TB MX300 SSD MSI Gaming X 1080Ti Samsung 55" JS8000 SUHD 4K Windows 10 x64 TrackIR 5, Warthog HOTAS Saitek Pro Flight Combat Pedals Custom Akers-Barnes, MkI eyeball.
metalnwood Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 I dont use nvidia, only ati but I think the featureset it the same. He sets up nvidia surround and uses the built in bezel management. His fourth screen is arranged next to the wide screen and he sets the res in DCS to ~ 8000x1080 while exporting all things to the screen on the right - which just happens to be underneat physically. You should never need to use the three viewports. Everything he wants to do he can do without softth. Not that softth doesnt have merit for some things but he hasnt asked for anything specifically requiring it so for a first timer it may be easier not to have to configure it.
_Dredd Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Ah, yes that clears it you're right(my tired brain not thinking). If you want to go Portrait , Landscape, Portrait; you'll need SoftTH for Bezel Management. tietze Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Just wondering a bit - does all the monitors have to be connected to one graphics card or can the screens be connected to both graphics cards? metalnwood Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 You can set up dcs to run across multiple cards. To do it basically you just need to have all your monitors set up as extended desktop and tell DCS to run in windowed mode and set the resolution to be the overall size of all your monitors. It will look like it is running fullscreen. I am not sure of the performance problems in doing this, if any, and this is potentially where softth could enhance performance. Not sure. It's certainly your only option if you want to run it in full screen. Unless your two cards are nvidia and support NV surround together.
SkateZilla Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Use the 670s for the mainviewports then get a 650ti or some small single slot card, and use it for helios to the extra screens. if you have no more space, Disable SLI and use the 2nd 670 for the helios screens and the main 670 for the Main 3 viewports.
