Binkley13 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 One of the lucky few to get the Huey Special Edition, which, along with all the other stock Hueys, comes with the super-secret squirrel UH-1H RG. With it's sleek, RAM profile, it can't be matched on the battlefield. With avionics years ahead of it's time, the UH-1H RG's cockpit showcases advanced features, such as speed holes in the windscreen.

ALDEGA Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 When you move to the gunner positions (by pressing 3 or 4, depending on the side) the doors automatically open. I wonder if there is a way to close them ... to protect the gunners.
SimFreak Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 I wonder if there is a way to close them ... to protect the gunners. Protect them from wind? That door is not armored....
ALDEGA Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Wouldn't even help a little bit against small arms fire?

Sundowner.pl Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 (edited) Wouldn't even help a little bit against small arms fire? Those are in most places two 1.2mm sheets of aluminium alloy (2024)... the doors in your car are few times more resistant (thicker material and of steel, unless you're driving an Audi), and still you'll get dents if a cyclist bump into you :smilewink: Edited May 4, 2013 by Sundowner.pl [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "If a place needs helicopters, it's probably not worth visiting." - Nick Lappos
Robin_Hood Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 It's nice to be able to close them though, if just for the noise. I'll tell you, though, if you think it's loud with the doors open, try it with 4 other Hueys and 2 Ka-50s around you. Now that gets you in the mood  2nd French Fighter Squadron
Binkley13 Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 Probably should put this in the bugs section, but I could never get the skids to go from "retracted" position in the cabin to a deployed state. I'll let my crew chief know. Also, it was like that when I got it. In order to unlock this special edition, you have to perform a konami code of sorts. 1 - Get overconfident in flight 2 - Get overly aggressive in approach 3 - Enter vortex ring state with -3 feet recovery altitude 4 - Retract skids 5 - Recover, not sure what to do now 6 - Take photos 7 - Land as softly as possible 8 - Hold cyclic as far as possible, don't want a rotor strike, do we? 9 - Yell at crew chief because the airbags didn't deploy, try to divert attention from missing essential components 10 - Take 2 hour "celebratory" lunch I like to keep my crew chief on his toes. Don't want him to get too much free time. Keeps the maintenance section from getting in trouble.
