Kougar Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 When I give full power to the mustang the tail does not raise off the runway so I can't take off. Anyone know why this is happing?
cichlidfan Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Have you also set the prop RPM to max? Kougar Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 Prop To Max LOL no I have not done that how is that done?:helpsmilie:
cichlidfan Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 It is listed as Engine RPM in the Axis settings page. The keys are PageUP and PageDOWN. EDIT: In the cockpit there is a lever with a round handle next to your throttle, it should move with the above keys. You want it all the way forward for takeoff. SimFreak Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 There is a manual and training....I would go that route.
gavagai Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 There is a manual and training....I would go that route. Yes, the tutorial is very well done. Do the tutorials and you'll be in the air on the first or second try. Kougar Posted May 6, 2013 Author Posted May 6, 2013 Thanks Thanks for the reply's it seems I did not have that handle all the way forward was the problem. The one witht the P on it.
starkey817 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 After takeoff and transition into level flight is the rpm lever supposed to be pulled back into the green or is it ok to keep it at max rpm? I usually pull the throttle back into the green but I never really adjust the RPMs and I never seem to have engine problems.
Pman Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 RPM should not be run over 2700 for continuous flight with the manifold at 45" Cruise is 2400RPM and 35"
Irregular programming Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 (edited) Please don't bold your text on the forums, the default font is perfectly fine. But yeah, prop RPM is kinda necessary. :) Edited May 6, 2013 by Irregular programming
Echo38 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Running at too high of an RPM for a given manifold pressure is inefficient, but it isn't nearly as hard on the engine as running at too low of an RPM for a given manifold pressure. As I understand it, low MAP & high RPM won't harm the engine, but will lower your speed and raise your fuel consumption; high MAP and low RPM, on the other hand, will damage your engine.
Merlin-27 Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Like Yo-Yo always says :)... there is a placard right inside the cockpit with proper engine settings as well as charts in the manual. That along with several threads on here dealing with engine management should help get you running. Reading the basics will save you from a lot of the headaches many of us struggled with in the beginning.
