9.JG27 DavidRed Posted August 11, 2013 Posted August 11, 2013 Hey Merlin! nice server you have put there!i really enjoy flying on it. the only issue for now i see, really are the skins.i know ive told you before already, but you asked for constructive critizism. :) the 109skin isnt a stock one which ships with the game, so most of the people joining the server dont have it, and therefore get confused.dont know if its friend or foe they've just spotted, or dont understand why a "friendly" aircraft starts shooting at them. so i think its really important to use stock skins for both sides.maybe try very different looking ones, so that the distinction is easy, but thats of course up to you! another point, i want to ask, is whether youve made sure, that during the 5hours the mission is running, AI aircraft are still getting spawned.so that if a person joins your empty server, still got something to do, shoot at, except the ground targets, which are placed and chosen very well by the way. beside the above (two) point(s), i can only say that your server is awesome, and the only thing i regret is that i dont have more time to enjoy it! cheers

Thank you. I have been struggling with the skins and their use. I agree it would be nice to not have to require a download to set the axis apart from the US Mustangs but I also really like using the German skin. It really feels more authentic. It would be really nice to get that fictional BF109 added to the default skins for the P-51D then everyone would have it. *hint hint* And about the spawning of enemies, there are several groups that spawn due to trigger locations and some with a time-release trigger. If you find specific times where you do not see any enemy to fight let me know. I'm happy to add more. At that moment it was 2 vs 6 :) DavidRed and I were in survival mode. Good flying guys. Situations like that really do make you realize what "head on a swivel" means! Vijar Posted August 12, 2013 Posted August 12, 2013 Hi Merlin, Just tested it on your sever. When choosing an air-start-slot I get the Training Staffel skin on the red side P-51s. But for the ground-start-slots on red side I still get the US default skin.

Tried to fly against the AI and there were 3 190s circling the airfield to shoot you as soon as you take off, and there is no friendly AAA for protection. Thus far, I've almost exclusively used my own server, but today I dropped into someone else's P-51 server to watch folks dogfight (I was looking for yours, Merlin, but I couldn't find it). I can't for the life of me figure out where to see the difficulty options, either inside or outside of the server.

Echo38 Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 (edited) Yeah, I was trying to figure out what the realism/difficulty settings were for the server I joined ... it allowed externals & padlock, which made me wonder what else was on. But when I looked around for a way to view the settings, I couldn't find one anywhere. This really is the wrong thread for the question, but I was hoping someone here was more familiar with joining other people's DCS servers than I am (I've only flown on my own server, with about three exceptions). Anyone? Any way at all to view the settings for a given server, either before or after joining it? I got into your server later, Merlin, but I couldn't see much because spectate was disabled (my own server has it disabled in my dogfight mission, although it's on in my duel mission). Air-started and had a couple of tries at landing her with trim-keys only. It--didn't go well. ; ) Edited September 2, 2013 by Echo38

If you really want to go at it, you could go to the automatically saved track file from that flight, open it and extract the mission file, edit it with notepad++ or any equivalent, look for ["forcedOptions"] and you'll be able to know what is enforced on the server.
