Guys who know how to pass the 19th mission of the Campaign for the P-51?

 

 

I made a lot of attempts, but could not.:dunno: too many targets

Oh hell, that one gave me fits. Lost count of how many attempts it took, and I never did kill all four trucks with two bombs. Eventually I caught three trucks with two bombs, then kamikazed into the fourth.

I think I found a way how to pass the 19 th mission. :)

I'm having a hell of a time with this mission. Moving targets, heavy AAA, AND crosswind to boot. Tried attacking from several different angles and altitudes. Tried releasing both bombs at once. Tried releasing bombs staggered. No joy. I can get hits and maybe one or two kills but all 4? No way.

 

Any tips on how to do this without cheating?

I don't remember how many complicated attempts it took me to do it, but MANY :D. Then, a bit frustrated, decided to take a two weeks brake, then tried again with more simple and straightforward tactics and got them after just a few tries.

 

After hitting "fly" button, climb sharply, turn the fixed sight on, look down and quickly right-click both armament switches (plus bomb drop selector in train mode!), look back to the gunsight, do a half-loop to see what's going on on the ground and if you did the switches flicking fast enough you will notice that you ended up flying just along the road, with vehicles 30-something degrees below you i.e. perfect position for dive bombing. So, do a half loop again, aim and down you go. Try to drop the bombs low and with a bit of delay, so the first one hits somewhere between 1&2 while second hits between 3&4 and. Didn't make it? Repeat. And again.. and again :D. One "cycle" of this damn mission done this way takes no more than 4-5 minutes so you can do it many times until you're lucky.

 

I saved the track of my final, successful attempt (in early 1.2.10 build of the game), but obviously it does not replay properly with updated DCS version (my plane crashes in it). You can still play it though, to see how I was beginning my typical attack. In each one of them I was hitting 2 or 3 of the vehicles and eventually I got lucky and hit them all.
