So, as far as I can tell, threat circles on the ABRIS come from threats in the mission editor that are:

1) Active

2) Non-hidden.

What if I want to place a threat circle as a feint (i.e. bad intel)? Is it possible? I tried ticking Late Activation and Visible At Start, but although the threat showed up on the mission editor map, it didn't show up on the ABRIS.

I don`t think it is possilble, because I guess the Game calculates the Threat Area based on a real existing Threat. The only Way that comes to my Mind you would get something kind like this, is placing a HAWK SR without a Launcher or something..so you have a calculated Threat Area without a real Threat because the HAWK can not launch Rockets..but you know.. I am a DCS Noob..so maybe a Pro has a better Answer:)

In theory this should work:

Make a group, active and unhidden.

Deactivate group by a trigger (for example when the Ka-50 enters the area or leaves the FARP, or just a time trigger)

I'm not sure if you can already deactivate the group on mission start as I don't know exactly when the information for the ABRIS is retrieved (mission start or during ABRIS boot).

As the info on the ABRIS is not updated through the use of an active datalink, the threat, once deactivated, should still appear on your abris. Just like destroyed threats still show up.

In case the game mechanics work differently and deactivating a group DOES remove the threat on the ABRIS, just make the units explode. The latter will definitly work but is not a really 'clean' solution.

@ Lizzard. The threat is pre-entered and not updated as explained above.

I know that, when you hop into the pit in a multiplayer game already in progress, your ABRIS has updated threat information based on what's still alive.

Yup, that's correct. Placing a threat that dies after ten seconds with the helo started shows it on the map; starting the helo at mission start yields no threat on the ABRIS.

There's a waypoint setting for JTAC for 'invisible', isn't there? I imagine that only affects the AI, though, and doesn't actually make it invisible in the sim. If there was a way to do that, I could probably get away with disabling the unit's AI and just leaving it there. Or maybe I could stick it under an invulnerable building or something--can the mission editor overlap units?

Edit: seems like it's basically impossible to make a threat icon without an actual, specific threat active and visible on the map. Besides modding invisible, generic, nonfiring threat units, I'm not sure it's plausible.

Lines into ABRISS

Using the "PREPARE MISSION" function of the Mission editor.

You can find it in the Topline of the ME.

1-Choose "Flight" in Mission editor >"Prepare mission"

2-Get into the KA-50 Cockpit and Start the ABRISS and wait till its up.

3-Get into "PLAN" mode and press "SELECT"

4-Choose "ADD INF" with the right Turning button and affirm with"SELECT"

5-You can now move the cursor with the right Turning Button

(Press this Button =Direction) Press "ADD LIN" to Begin with Drawing

6-If you want to Change Color press "COLOR":smilewink:and choose one.

7-Press "ENTER" to add your drawed line.

8-To Draw more press "ADD LIN" again.

9-If your Drawing is finished press "CANCEL" to leave this mode.

10->>>>> HOW TO SAVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Open "MENU" mode and press "CTRL" after that choose "SETUP"

>>Go to "DTB" with the Right Turningbutton and affirm with "SETUP"

Now you can see an Shared Menu with "ONBOARD LOADER" in the upper

and "ONBOARD STORAGE" in the lower menu section.

>> In "ONBOARD STORAGE" behind "ADDITIONAL INFO" there should be a Number that shows how many Drawings you did (examble: 4 lines for a Square so there should be a 4).

>> You have to save all your entries so

>Press "SAVE" to go to the "ONBOARD STORAGE" menu

>Press "SAVE" again to save the selected entry.

>Press "V" (arrow down in ABRISS) to select the next entry and repeat for all.

THATS IT. you can leave the mission now.

Nothing will show you if it was an success.

You will have to reload the mission with "FLY" and take a look into the ABRISS.

Isegrim, it's not about info points or lines on the ABRIS map. It is about the known threats and their effective engagement range that are visible on the ABRIS.

Fish, can you try to destroy or remove the threat by using a trigger after the ABRIS has booted. Because threats will remain visible if they get destroyed during your mission so it must be possible to achieve the same result by destroying/removing a vehicle by a trigger, unless an actual weapon hit prior to destruction is required. If the latter is how it works I don't see another solution.

Try a trigger zone around the threat (Larger than their engagement range off course!). If Ka-50 enters, remove/destroy threat.

That's the only case that worked, Hog, as I said--starting the mission with the Ka-50 (and ABRIS) booted and deactivating or destroying the threat after that works, but that's only a solution for singleplayer. I'd like to be able to do something for multiplayer missions where I might take off late in the mission in a Ka-50 after flying something else beforehand, and that's the part that seems impossible without some way to make a unit present, but invisible to players in the world.

by active you mean moving, shooting or both? cuz if you hitch a SAM with ROE hold fire and just keep it as is, it will still show up but not shoot at you on ABRIS.

But you can't make them invisible to the player... The idea is that the player finds nothing at the supposed position.
