What is the difference between the Su-25T and the Su-25: DCS Flaming Cliffs?

Yes. It wasn't part of the LockOn series.

Is there any real reason why ED didn't just 'pretend' it wasn't part of that series.

Seems silly to do something like that ,limiting your audience.

I'm not sure if I get you, so my apologies if I got you wrong...

The Su25T is not part of the series because it... well, was not in the series?!

The original LOMAC featured the A-10A, Su25, Su27, Su33, Mig29, F-15C

And giving a free module so people can try DCS w/o having to overthink spending money on it or not is imho a quite good idea

So the Su-25T isn't "inferior" to the Su-25A, although it's free?

At all, Su-25T has Shkval and Vikhr missiles, very effective against tanks, anti-radiation missiles, the impresive air-to-air missiles R-73, etc.

Su-25T is more difficult to fly and takeoff, it weighs more (I can't explain in English, in Spanish would be "le pesa el culo").

SU-25 and SU-25T are both very capable platforms.

SU-25 fills a more specific role in the CAS department

SU-25T can fill roles such as SEAD/DEAD/CAS and others, at a cost of having extra avionics, bigger fuel tanks, overall more weight and thus less maneuverability.

Easy, the size of the smile when you pull off an attack in the A is about double...

Both of them have advanced flight model. Su-25 lacks guided missiles.

The Su-25 can use laser guided missiles.

I would add air interdiction to the list.

Here's one more difference, if you want to have the same degree effectiveness, especially in an environment containing hostile air defences, you need to be a much much better pilot if you're flying the Su-25.

The 25 and 25T are a real clinic in the degree to which improved avionics, especially targeting systems, enhance a combat aircraft's lethality.

I adore the Shkval, but to put it bluntly: any idiot can take off and slew a targeting pipper around a screen; to reliably put bombs, shells, and rockets on target though, you really have to know how to fly.

Callsign "Auger". It could mean to predict the future or a tool for boring large holes.

I combine the two by predictably boring large holes in the ground with my plane.
