Is there a way to decrease the default minimum TGP magnification even further? I still find the magnification too high to scan wide areas with it.

This is a noted RL problem with targeting pods in general. They aren't much good for wide sweeps. It's unlikely to get 'fixed', since it's true to life.

Looking through a targeting pod has been likened to looking through a soda straw :)

climb up to 20k, fan out to 10-15 nm and orbit. you'll see everything clearly...

AWAITING ED NEW DAMAGE MODEL IMPLEMENTATION FOR WW2 BIRDS

Fat T is above, thin T is below. Long T is faster, Short T is slower. Open triangle is AWACS, closed triangle is your own sensors. Double dash is friendly, Single dash is enemy. Circle is friendly. Strobe is jammer. Strobe to dash is under 35 km. HDD is 7 times range key. Radar to 160 km, IRST to 10 km. Stay low, but never slow.

TGP is not good for scanning wide areas. It is only really effective locating targets in small focused zones that are preregistered as having something in it. You should be using your eyes.

Use Num* and Num/, map those to something on your stick, and consider increasing the max zoom by editing some file that I forget the name of. In general this would be considered akin to using gyro-stabilized binoculars up to a zoom something in the range of 10x to 14x, which were actually used in combat by real pilots in A-10s.

TGP is a limited tool. Best not to kill your SA by staring into it.

Warning: Nothing I say is automatically correct, even if I think it is.

Thanks guys, I know of all these techniques mentioned. The issue was kind of wanting to scan targets under cloud cover under 10k feet.

I guess no one knows which files to edit to make it happen.

Check the top left of the TGP. If it says narrow hit china hat forward to set it to wide.

That's where zoom comes in.
