Dogman Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Hi Guys Just started down the long and winding road and am having a number of issues that I thought I might throw out there to see if I can get some quick fixes... I have a feeling there will be more... 1/ When I am running the various training videos when I am instructed to use certain keyboard commands they often do not work. I am using the A-10C layer and it does not seem to have many assignments mapped. I have the X52 Pro stick and combat pedals installed stick working OK pedals have following issue. 2/ The pedals have installed and they are recognized in the Control screen and I have been able to map the rudder which works fine in game. Unfortunately in the assign axis screen the brake pedal fields are shaded and won't allow me to assign actions to them. 3/ When I use auto start the procedure begins with each step being displayed and visible action happening on the various consoles and screens. When it reaches the engine start the engines fail to start. Look forward to any thoughts anyone has regards to these annoyances.. Harzach Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Make sure you are in "A-10C Sim" mode, and not "A-10C Game" mode.
cichlidfan Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 Regarding #3, your throttle needs to be in the zero position. If it is not a zero, IIRC, the engine will not start. Dogman Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 Thanks cichlidan tried again checking that the throttle was fully pulled back and the engines started. I noticed you have Saitek combat pedals Have you been able to est up toe brakes on them? Dogman Posted September 29, 2013 Author Posted September 29, 2013 Thanks Harzack am in Sim mode so this is not contributing to the issues I am having.. bkrull Posted September 29, 2013 Posted September 29, 2013 My Saitek Pro toe brakes don't work either.
Evil.Bonsai Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I use Saitek Combat pedals, toe brakes work fine. Make sure to reverse the toe brake axis.
Dogman Posted September 30, 2013 Author Posted September 30, 2013 (edited) Nice to hear that someone has got toe breaks working it fills me with hope. Like I said in the beginning of the thread I don't have the option to reverse the axis because the wheel brake fields are shaded and can't be accessed. I read in another post that the drivers could cause issues so I removed them and tried again but no joy. Evil.Bonsai Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 Do you have all the axes assigned, rudder as well as wheel brakes.
Dogman Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 I have the rudder working OK as the field is available. Problem is the wheel brake ones are not unlike yours they are shaded and can't be accessed. I have tried to get a screen shot using print screen and SnagIt but can't actually get a shot of the game screen for some reason. How did you get yours? guitarxe Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 You have downloaded and installed the drivers for your hardware, right?
Dogman Posted October 1, 2013 Author Posted October 1, 2013 Yes I did but then after reading a related post somewhere it was recommended to remove the drivers which I did. I'll reinstall and see if anything changes. PRTSCN button; default for DCS I believe. images are in the screenshot folder.
Dogman Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) Finally tracked down that pesky Screenshots folder for DCS real simple in the end. The shot shows the shading I am talking about which means the wheel brake fields are not active. I have done a re-install of drivers from the Saitek site with no result. Would love to know if anyone else has seen this and if so what the resolution is. Have your tried clicking on the wheel brakes and clearing, then trying to assign? I have a few for camera that are greyed out for my HOTAS and RUDDERS but assigned/clickable to mouse
Dogman Posted October 3, 2013 Author Posted October 3, 2013 Certainly tried to clear but because they are inactive they cant be selected to be cleared. I have logged a case with Saitek and we'll see what their thoughts are. Thanks for your help anyway its most appreciated...
