I have recently started experiencing view lag in DCS:

  • Moving the mouse to look around the cockpit: view follows input with a delay of 1 or 2 seconds
  • Switching views: delay between key press and view switch of 1 or 2 seconds.

The former problem is particularly egregious because it kills the ability to fly and look around at the same time.

Is this a known 1.2.6 issue? I also just got a new stick (MS FFB 2), but don't see how that would be related to my problem.

Performance is otherwise good and this issue only recently started.

Thanks for any info.

ContraStorm: I think we are having different (but maybe related?) problems. From your post it sounds like the whole game lags (aircraft don't move).

My game runs buttery smooth and it is only the view panning/changing that is lagging.

We've been discussing this in this thread.

http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=113775

Has this just happened for you in 1.2.6 since you connected the FFB stick?

Ie, was your view lag absent in 1.2.6. prior?

What happens if you disable FFB in game and don't use the stick.

Can you revert to your old stick and test again. This is interesting as I'm wondering if the two might be related. I saw some lengthy threads that ROF users had the same issues some time ago with FFB and trackir.

Look forward to your test results.

@_Dredd: You and i both don't use FFB and we also have the problem. Mine is disabled. Also, 1-2 secs is a lot more then what i see with the TrackIR problem.

But it's always worth a shot...

Im thinking outside the box.

In fact where has the producer.cfg file gone, earlier versions this is why had FFB settings but it's now gone. I jus tried everything still with no luck, guess I'll just wait another month for new version and hope this is fixed .

So I did a little testing and indeed the MS FFB2 seems to be related to my problem.

If I plug in my old Cyborg F.L.Y. 5 stick (horrible, horrible thing) I get no view lag.

The problem returns when I plug the MS FFB2 back in. I tried turning the FFB strengths to zero under "FF tune" in the options (I couldn't see an option to toggle it off altogether) but this did not solve the view lag issue.

I do not have TrackIR and am trying to turn the view with the mouse, so I don't think this is trackIR specific.

I should say that 2 seconds is close to the upper extreme of the length of freezes that I get. I see the whole spectrum from small fraction-of-a-second micro-stutters as I turn my head to periods where I am unable to pan the view for several seconds at a time. Likewise, when I press an F-key to change to an external/internal view I experience a seemingly random delay before the view actually changes: sometimes it is instant, sometimes it takes as long as a few seconds to switch to the new view.

Not sure how to fix this, but going back to the F.L.Y. 5 is a fate worse than death

Edit: it seems others are having this kind of problem. See here: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=115472

Edit 2: it seems like I don't get any lag/delay when panning the view with either that hat switch on my stick or with the numeric keypad -- only when moving the view with the mouse or when switching between views.

Edit 3: The latest version did not fix this problem for me.

I get severe input lags occuring since the latest update (view), no matter what. 2-3 seconds = unplayable. Appears randomly. Sometimes its OK (I could fly with no problems right when the update came out), sometimes it's laggy.

Also same problem, MSFFB2 , using mouse/trackball to look around, very jerky, sometimes 1-2 sec lags. when using HAT view is smooth no lags.

Other than using a diff Jstick are there any solutions? or should wait for next patch, unfortunately is pretty unplayable when looking around for me

EDIT: an interesting experiment. If I keep moving the stick left and right and the mouse at the same time, the view doesn't change for as much as 10 seconds, or even more. It's like the view change has a lower priority and while the joystick is updated the view is unattended. And as I said, while doing this the simulation keeps running smoothly and the aircraft banks left and right accordingly, it's just the view that doesn't change.

I get this behaviour too. If I put on stick input (i.e. if the stick is not centered) then I the view input from mouse look is very laggy. If, on the other hand, I leave the stick in the center position then there is no lag at all. As above, this is with an MS FFB2.

No change with latest update, still unplayable with MSFFB2 and mouse lag in view look around,

Any info from devs/mods if this issue will be looked at or has support for MSFFB2 been dropped, also interested to see how widespread a problem this is with other FFB sticks G940 anyone?

Thanks for any input, with DCS1944 alpha coming in Feb it will be a shame if have to use a different joystick to play, it took me two years to finally find MSFFB2 in my part of the world, and am very happy with it in other sims.

Nothing useful to add other than to say that I am also still getting view lag in 1.2.4 update 4 (as well as the issue reported elsewhere of non-functioning stick shake when approaching the stall envelope).
