Hi all,

I really want to start modeling in dcs,My plan was to start as simple as possible.

So to start I have downloaded the latest plugins for max 2010 and standalone model viewer. All have installed correctly apart from when starting ModelViewer I get a message saying(Can't load Config/ModelViewer.lua!)

But I have carried on anyway by making a box in max and adding a bmp 64x64 24bit to it then using the make cool button setting leaving the Material Attributes at default.

Capture.jpg.html

I export the model using the ed model format into a folder on the desktop,Copy the textures to Eagle Dynamics\edModelViewer\Bazar\TempTextures Open the modelviewer load the model.

I can see the model but get the missing textures instead of my own.

Hope someone with a bit of knowledge and bit of time can help my out.I'm pretty sure its only a few things I'm doing wrong

Thanks in advance

Put the textures in TempTextures folder.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Yeah the texture is in the model viewer temp texture folder I think the problem may that I'm not applying the bitmap correctly

Can you give me a simple guide on just texturing a box just so I compare it with mine

I know its a lot to ask but need to end my pain

Cheers

How are you applying the texture?

Are you unwrapping it then applying the UV to the model?

Hi Joey

So these's are the steps I use

1 Make the box

2 Convert to editable poly

3 Unwrap the box,Rendering a uvw template,texture the template in photoshop saving as a bmp 24bit 1024x1024

4Capture3arows.jpg

5 Apply the texture to the box by drag and dropping it on there

Then I export in edm format and copy the texture to Eagle Dynamics\edModelViewer\Bazar\TempTextures

Also I'm not changing any of the names ie: Map#1,01-defualt

Hope the pictures help if you need anything more just say

Cheers

Red use this tip....

1.) create box

2.) assign material for box in mat. editor

3.) press "make cool" in EDModel Tool

4.) back to mat.editor and change color from default to red.....

5.) in material attributes change material from "default" to "color"

6.) export edm file and open in MW.......you must see red box.....

If you see red box problem is somewhere if you aplied uvw map....

Hi Bob,

No I have tried every day for the last 2weeks watched just about every vid on youtube but still no luck. In the pictures I have shown no one has said that my method is wrong so not to sure what to do next ??

All my textures are in the temp texture folder in the md viewer

Its as if 3dmax is not exporting the bitmap ??

Hello,

I've been able to open up your box in max, it exported fine to EDM format. (didn't adjust anything, just straight to export)

I threw the texture into;

C:\Program Files (x86)\edModelViewer\Bazar\TempTextures

and in the model viewer it is blue.

If I delete the texture, get the usual orange.

So seems to work here.

Top man Fudge thanks for trying it.

What version of Modelviewer are you using and is it standalone??

Also do you get the error (Can't load Config/ModelViewer.lua!) when hitting the exe

This gets weirder

Ok reinstalled the modelviewer and plugins to the same as yours also changed the install path of the modelviewer to Program Files (x86).

I now don't have the error any more but still cant see the blue texture. As before putting the texture into C:\Program Files (x86)\edModelViewer\Bazar\TempTextures .

So things I know.

1:The model is fine

2:The texture is fine

Things I don't know

How much longer I have the will to live!!!!

Finally

All this time I have been using the menu export option to export the model in ed format.

I tried using the tool ed exporter bar and it WORKED

So a big thanks to all how commented on this post.

Thanks
