SquadronLeader6 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 is there an option to use the mouse for clicking the switches to start the plane or do you have to use the key set up? example, LShift + L to turn electrical systems on? When my game starts I have no mouse pointer period and moving the mouse turns my pilot's head? please advise and thanks.
Echo38 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) It depends on the aircraft. The "full-sim" birds (A-10C, P-51D, Ka-50, UH-1H, & Mi-8) have clickable 'pits. The half-sim birds do not have clickable 'pits. If you're using a full-sim aircraft, there's a key to switch mouse modes. I don't recall what the default is, but it should be in the "general" page of the keybinds. Edited October 30, 2013 by Echo38
EchoMasterMind Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 ALT + C switches between mouse look and mouse cursor. As said above, it is only useful in the cockpits that are clickable. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
cichlidfan Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 If you are flying the free aircraft in DCS World, or any of the Flaming Cliffs 3 aircraft, there is nothing to click in the cockpits. SquadronLeader6 Posted October 30, 2013 Author Posted October 30, 2013 thanks ok guys, I do not know how to afford this but I need everyone's address so I can send a pizza and beer lunch along with flowers. this was driving me nuts. I had it pegged down to the game didn't work on my system until this post. Thanks so kindly. It is the free aircraft I am using. I wanted to try the game out. so now I know it works as intended. wheeewwwww so,...what add-ons do you guys recommend? I am leaning toward A-10C first....any thoughts?
slowhand Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I'd go A10c Hardcore,P51 for fun and the Huey,KA50 or the M8 just for the OH shit Factor...:megalol::music_whistling: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] SMOKE'M:smoke: IF YA GOT'M!:gun_rifle: H2o Cooler I7 9700k GA 390x MB Win 10 pro Evga RTX 2070 8Gig DD5 32 Gig Corsair Vengence, 2T SSD. EchoMasterMind Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 I'd get A-10C first. It's a beast. All the other modules are good as well of course. Priority wise, it really comes down to what you like to do in the air though. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Echo38 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) A-10C: easy to fly, difficult to manage the systems & avionics P-51D: difficult to fly, easier to manage the systems Ka-50: easy to fly (for a helicopter, that is), difficult sys & avionics UH-1H: difficult to fly, easier to manage the sys Mi-8: no idea, but I'm guessing it isn't too dissimilar from the Huey relative to the other aircraft listed. In short, if you're a "stick & rudder man," you'll want the P-51D. If you're a techie who isn't so crazy about spins & tumbles, you'll probably prefer the A-10C. If you like helicopters & all their challenges, go for the UH-1H or Mi-8. Edited October 30, 2013 by Echo38
GC1993 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 A10C takes a while to get proficient & combat ready with it, but when you do, it is SO rewarding. I'm personally not a heli fan but some find them fun also. But if you're like me (young & interested in modern Western jets) then the A10C is something I will definitely recommend. Don't let the steep learning curve put you off, it will take you possibly even a few months to get seriously good with it, but like I said, there is no better feeling than successfully completing an online mission in your A10C with a bunch of other A10Cs, just how it would be done in real life. I'm not sure what equipment you have now, but to FULLY get the most out of A10C given money is no issue, get yourself a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS stick - best investment I have ever made. Also get a nice pair of Saitek pedals (you don't need the combat ones unless you're a real enthusiast, not worth the extra money), get TrackIR 5, a decent-ish headset, and then Teamspeak so your comms are all good when you're online. The above comes at a rather hefty price, but hey Christmas is on it's way so better start writing your wish list to Santa....
esb77 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 A note on the helicopters as far as ease of flying. Ka-50 is by far the easiest, provided you learn how to work the autopilot/stability control systems. If you don't learn how to use them and fight them for control of the heli it is very difficult to fly. Huey is pretty maneuverable, but plan on crashing a lot while you learn, and be aware that slop in a cheap HOTAS hardware setup can be pretty frustrating in the Huey because it is so sensitive to control inputs. Mi-8 intermediate difficulty to fly, provided you remember to turn on the stability control. Not as maneuverable as a Huey, but that's not surprising since it can carry a payload that weighs almost as much as a Huey. Also the Mi-8 is still more of an early beta version, it WILL change and there are more non-functional systems on it than on the UH-1 or Ka-50. Callsign "Auger". It could mean to predict the future or a tool for boring large holes. I combine the two by predictably boring large holes in the ground with my plane.
