I am using your P51 (version 1.67) target profile and the Helios profile prepared by Capt Z for the P51.

In reviewing the key commands and button assignments when using both of the above, I ran into several issues as follows:

1. The original key commands had no command for Rockets delay/inst. CZ wants RIGHT SHIFT F, but you want RControl+RShift+8 and you also have button assignments for that command. My solution was to go into Helios and changes RShift F to your RControl+RShift+8. I changed Helios as CZ’s profile will not be updated and your profile is continuously updated so I figured it was easier to just change CZ’s key assignment once and for all. Do you agree?

2. The command OIL DILUTE had no key command in the original file. You have a button assignment for this command, but no key command. I went ahead and added LSHIFT O to the key command as requested by CZ. My question is will my adding the key assignment for the Helios profile cause any problems with your target button assignment?

3. Finally, CZ has requested that the key command for Rear warning radar test be changed from LSHIFT R to LCONTROL F. Your target profile uses the default key command and also has a button assignment. I have 2 choices it seems. I can go along with CZ and change the key command to be consistent with his Helios profile OR I can leave the default key assignment and change CZ’s Helios profile to the default key command of LSHIFT R. If I do the former, does that mean that I also have to do something in your target profile? If I do the latter, than I just have to change the Helios profile. However, CZ states in his readme file that the default command causes the mission to restart. This is an old readme file and I would have assumed that if you ran across this issue when you were doing your profile, you would have commented-so I am inclined to keep the default key command and just change the Helios profile. Comments?

4. Other than the above, there does not seem to be any conflicts between your profile and CZ’s profile.

For now, certainly. However, I will review the feasibility of the CZ keystroke for a future build. I think I kept it with numbers so as to not use something that might be confused with flaps. It originally only had the DX button, but adding the function to the WH throttle base required a keystroke.

This is fine. Adding something that I don't use is fine, provided it does not overwrite any other command.

I don't believe I map the rear warning radar, and if I did it would likely be a DX combo for the MFD. You should be ok to change it. Likewise, you can simply add LSHIFT+R without replacing the LCTL+F, and that will work as well.

Wingshigh, do you fly multiplayer with Teamspeak as well as use Voice Attack? If so, do you have any preferences for how you would do both?

Home Fries, at this moment I am not flying multiplayer yet, therefore I am not able to answer your question accurately. Sorry.

M-2000C left trim

Hi Homefries,

I am testing your M-2000C profile and I found out a problem:

The left trim doesn't work. If you open the setup, select M-2000C , then test each trim, it does work but the left trim stays in red on the setup list.

I have tested your profile with the a-10c and and it does work correctly .

Could you check this ?

Cobra

Hello HomeFries

When you get a chance, could you please check the commands for the P-51 profile with regard to the speed brake button. Your diagram shows Gyro Power/fixed ring, but when I test it in the game controls setup in the game, the speed brake performs fixed ring/WEP.

Also, what does the /I Toggle do in the up position of the ENG OPER?

I will check this tomorrow and if I find the issue I will add the fix to 1.68.

I will look at this as well, and add any fix to 1.68.

With regards to your question, I need to explain how the /O works with EOxIGN. I'm modelling a standard 3 position switch that isn't spring-loaded, yet the IGN position is spring loaded, so I have to put in a toggle function, else the switch will always go back into Safe. If the toggle function gets out of sync with the game, the /I command presses the chem release switch without affecting the toggle, allowing you to get it back in sync. Realistically, you shouldn't need to use the function (cycling EOxIGN twice should always get you back in sync), but it's there regardless.

FYI, most other switches on all profiles (unless specified otherwise) are null in the shifted state. This allows you to get switches in sync with the game without executing keystrokes.

sobe,

After further review, the speedbrake switch does what it should, but I neglected to update the diagram to reflect the changes. Same with the chem rel switches. The new graphic will be included in 1.68.

To be honest, I don't have a great idea of what to put on the speedbrake. Because the Gyro power is a toggle and releasing SBDF will turn off the power, I would ideally like to include a mutually exclusive function, but an unimportant or duplicate function otherwise. I'm open to suggestions for both sides of the SPD switch.

Cobra,

I couldn't duplicate the issue. Please provide the following settings from DCS World.tmc:

  • WarthogStick
  • TrackIR
  • PadlockEnabled

Also, be sure that Left Trim is set to JOY_BTN30+JOY_BTN_POV1_L in the DCS Options menu.

Thanks for the response. One additional thought that I have is whether you could integrate some of the basic view commands into your profile. For example, F1, F2 and LCtl F10 are all very helpful in single player. I have tried to integrate them myself using the shift button, but with only partial success. As most of us have your HOTAS diagram covering up the keyboard (age prevents me from quickly learning where all the commands are located), having these view commands on the HOTAS would be very helpful.

PS. You have 3 unused buttons on the LMFD (12, 16 and 17), but I cannot seem to be able to used them for the view commnads. Also, LMFD 16 appears to be the same as RMFD shifted contrast up.

Everybody,

Version 1.68 is just about ready to go. I'm going to wait until Friday (3/10) to see if there is a DCS patch that affects any existing control profiles, then I'll release it if there are no changes to be made (or if the changes are easy fixes).

Warthog afterburner lovers rejoice! If you want to put the AB detent in your throttle, but didn't want to inhibit your non-AB aircraft, then you're now in luck. Thanks in part to MTFDarkEagle's efforts, I was able to complete the throttle curves for afterburning aircraft so that the burners are lit at the point of the detent. Better yet, non-AB aircraft only use the throttle range below the detent, so there is no need to fight the detent in aircraft like the A-10 or UH-1. If you don't use the AB detent, no worries. The profile will continue to work as before.

Additionally, most of the effort for this build went into adding basic VR functionality (H/T TWC_Alamo for suggestions and testing). This feature is still a work in progress, so please provide feedback. That said, I won't be able to do much advanced integration until the next major version of this profile (i.e. 2.0), so for now all VR specific mouse functions must be tied to Hat1.

More to follow...

SnapView functionality can be tweaked in 2.0 since this feature has little use with VR, and at that point I can replace the SnapViews with other views and/or VR functions. For now, the best I can tell you is to use CommState to your advantage. Hold down the radio comms button, press H4D to cancel the comms menu, then while holding the radio comms button, H2-4 act as F1-F12.

Sometimes I do this to isolate commands (e.g. canopy jettison) to prevent inadvertent presses, and sometimes simply because there is no command that matches the cockpit functionality. To which module do you refer in this case?

'Sometimes I do this to isolate commands (e.g. canopy jettison) to prevent inadvertent presses, and sometimes simply because there is no command that matches the cockpit functionality. To which module do you refer in this case?"

I am referring to the P51 profile.

"SnapView functionality can be tweaked in 2.0 since this feature has little use with VR," I mainly use 1.5.

sobe,

Sorry, I was thinking of version 2.0 of the profile (in the future), not DCS 2.0. I can see where the confusion came from; I had the profile 2.0 on my mind due to my previous post.

LOSB16-17 are unmapped because I couldn't find anything good to put there (same with LOSB12). LOSB18 is the gyro power toggle. ROSB16 is Radio Channel D, so it isn't the same as S3+CONU (Radio Volume). I just tested these settings.

Best,

HF

In the F86 profile, I am having a little trouble with NWS. Just to be sure, in order for NWS S3 to work on the ground, I need to have the second green light lit on the left MFD-correct? If the light is not lit, then I hit LDG horn and S3 for 1/2 second until it does-correct?

works fine and ED Forum moderator: please put the profile thread sticky

Hi Home Fries,

Thanks a lot for your help. I tested everything and as I had the issue, i have decided to download again your files, and remove the profile from DCS and re-install everything...and it is now working fine. No idea what was the issue.

You profile and support is so great...making a donation :-)

ED Forum: could you put Home Fries profile sticky like the others ? It doesn't make sense that we need to go through pages to find such a great profile for DCS users

I have tried the below in both simple and regular NWS options in the F86 special options list.

"In the F86 profile, I am having a little trouble with NWS. Just to be sure, in order for NWS S3 to work on the ground, I need to have the second green light lit on the left MFD-correct? If the light is not lit, then I hit LDG horn and S3 for 1/2 second until it does-correct?"

In both instances, I could not get the S3 Button to work and had to use the S key. Could you please check that it is me and not the profile that is having some issues.

Thanks

Cobra,

Thank you for your donation. With that, I am close enough to my goal that I have removed the donation link from the OP. Please send all future donations to Fisher House, a charity that helps disabled veterans and their families.

@sobe, I'll take a look, but it won't be in time for 1.68.

Because...

Version 1.68 is out! 1.68 adds basic VR capability (mouse buttons to POV hat), enables optional use of the Warthog afterburner detent, and fixes some bugs (including the gear transition bug in the AJS-37 that could crash the profile).

When you look at the F86 issue I have above, would you also look at CHF+S3 short. This does not seem to advance the throttle at startup. In game, this command seems to refer to another command. For know, I am just using the HOME key.

This morning, despite getting hell from my wife, I reinstalled your F86 keyboard and WH profile and now of course the NWS S3 Button works fine. However, I cannot seem to get the landing lts switch to work on the BRT LMFD. it does the same whether or not I use the S3 or not.

Also, the canopy button seems to work fine without using the S3 despite the fact that it is colored green lowercase.

Finally, the CHF + S3 still does not work properly.

It appears that in your F86 profile the H2 up and down buttons and the China Hat both adjust the Rocket Depr Angle. If so, how can I change the H2 commands to implement Rocket Intervalonmeter CCW and CW (LAlt+ LCtl+[ and ]?

Hotas Cougar profile

I'm just getting started with DCS and trying to fly the P-51. I need some guidance with setting up a Cougar to work with this sim. Is there a profile ready made?
