Hoggorm Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Hi, I've been away from DCS for some time but plan to pick it up again. For some reason TackView won't record any flight. I've tried to reinstall TackView, made sure that Record [DCS:World] Flights are on and that a small DCS icon is visible in the lower right corner. Still no file is written. Any ideas? Thank you!
nomdeplume Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I installed it just a few days ago and it's working fine. Are you using the latest version? Also, you can double check that your Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\export.lua exists, and has the TacView lines in it. And finally check that the location you've set TacView to record to is correct.
*Rage* Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 It wont record on most multiplayer servers.. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
Hoggorm Posted November 27, 2013 Author Posted November 27, 2013 Also, you can double check that your Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\export.lua exists, and has the TacView lines in it.. Hmm... This file do not exist... I have this file on my laptop computer. Can I just copy and paste it over to my desktop computer?
nomdeplume Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Hmm... This file do not exist... I have this file on my laptop computer. Can I just copy and paste it over to my desktop computer? Probably... but it should be created if it doesn't exist when you enable DCS World in the recording options of TacView. There should also be a "TacviewExportDCS.lua" file in the same folder, which does the real work. The export.lua is read by the game if it exists, and TacView just adds some commands to run the TacviewExportDCS.lua file.
Hoggorm Posted November 27, 2013 Author Posted November 27, 2013 ...but it should be created if it doesn't exist when you enable DCS World in the recording options of TacView. Any ideas why it does not? I've tried several times, but it will not place any .lua files at all in the Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\ folder. No files are there at all. I have both the standard and Steam version of DCS installed on this computer. Can that be a issue?
Sharpe_95 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I have this problem also. I get an error message regarding no scripts being present. I've not been able to find a resolution and TACVIEW did not auto install any scripts. -Sharpe
nomdeplume Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I dunno, maybe having both versions installed might cause it issues. It does write to the user files directory, but I don't know how it finds that location. You could have a look to see if it's writing its scripts to one of the older DCS folders, e.g. a DCS Warthog folder in your home directory or to the actual game directory.
Hoggorm Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 I searched for export.lua on my harddisk and found it in these locations: D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\_backup.000\Config\Export D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\_backup.001\Config\Export D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\_backup.002\Config\Export D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\_backup.003\Config\Export D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\_backup.004\Config\Export D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\_backup.005\Config\Export D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\_backup.006\Config\Export D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Scripts D:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\DCSWorld\Scripts D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\Export The last location was changed yesterday, november 27th. TacviewExportDCS.lua was found only at one location and also edited yesterday: D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\Export I copied the Export.lua and TacviewExportDCS.lua from D:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Config\Export to Saved Games\DCS\Scripts\ That fixed the problem and TacView is now recording flights. I am however somewhat interested in finding out why the files are not exported to the correct path...
nomdeplume Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 Glad you figured something out, but I've no idea why it's not writing to your user directory. Maybe it found the modified files in the installation directory from ages ago and just continued using that location? Or possibly having the Steam and standalone directories really has confused it. The only other theory I came up with was that maybe the 32-bit and 64-bit Tacview exes handle game location detection differently? I've only used the 64-bit exe on my system.
nomdeplume Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 I have this problem also. I get an error message regarding no scripts being present. What says no scripts are present, and when, and exactly how? :)
Hoggorm Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 It wont record on most multiplayer servers.. If I'm hosting the mission: How can I make sure that Tacview actually do record? I've seen several missions that only makes a file 1 kb in size.

From the official website: NOTICE: In network games, the host must set [allow_object_export = true] in [network.cfg] in order to allow Tacview recording on clients computers. 'Frett'

Thank you! I assume this is the network.cfg file found in :\User\Library\Saved Games\DCS\Config ?
july865 Posted December 22, 2013 Posted December 22, 2013 can someone show / explain to me how to get Tacview working on 1.2.7 on client side? in have Tacview 1.2.4 installed, but cant get it to record on DCS 1.2.7 ty in advance Asus x99, i7 5930k, 32g mem, MSI 1070GTX, 970 Samsung M.2, LG 35in Ultra-Wide, TrackIR 4 Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
nomdeplume Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 If you've got TacView installed with the stable version of DCS World, then your export scripts will be in ..\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts. Copy the files "Export.lua" and "TacviewExportDCS.lua" into the Scripts folder under the open beta user directory, i.e. ..\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\Scripts. (Create the Scripts folder if it doesn't already exist there.)
