Run DCS A10C in a window?

I have de-selected (un-selected, got rid of, whateva) full screen mode in options but the sim still opens in full screen. I need to use windowed mode to be able to select screen capture & snapshot apps. Any advice?

Use PrtScrn-Key to produce a screen shot and find it in C:\Users\<user>\Saved Games\DCS\ScreenShots? :o)

 

Besides that ... hrm, I think, non full screen mode is a window without border that covers the whole screen. Alt-Tab doesn't work then for you?

KorVet, I have same difficulties. Need to use Alt tab to start screen capture. Would be interested in a solution as well.

Hmmm strange...

 

FYI: I can run DCSW in a standard window of any size/res. on my desktop on 2 systems.

 

1 has "real" hardware, Nvidia latest driver, Win7-64 i7 etc...

 

2 has VMware Fusion as a base and runs same Win7-64

 

Windowed mode helps a lot measuring GPU and CPU load while trying different settings.

 

I set my Desktop to 2880x1800 and fly the windowed game in 1920x1200 etc... really helps to see why sometimes FPS drops from 45 to 15 in a split second....

In my experience, DCS in windowed mode is exceptionally unstable... even in single player missions.

This works great for me, since I am using three screens, two USB ones, for HELIOS and TS3. Windowed mode with res set to screen res of primary monitor is the only way to go and very stable on my system.

I'm running DCS in windowed mode for years without any problems.

When I click on anything outside the game window it minimizes. I would like to keep it on my primary monitor as I scroll through .pdf manuals learning how to play. Can this be done???

 

I tried using the Borderless Windowed app, but it still minimizes... If it's just a window and not fullscreen, then the window 'should' remain open when another window is clicked...

Put in a smaller resolution in the World options.

Hmm, I was just testing with the Main menu. I just tested with a quick mission and the game did not minimize. I didn't use any borderless app either, so I guess it is working.

 

Those borderless apps do come in handy for a few other games though.. ;-)
