Currently using a mic and my speakers. I don't want/have a headset right now.

When recording in Windows everything is fine. When recording in TS it sounds like I'm a robot + I'm echoing. How do I fix this? Seeing as I do not have this issue in Windows, it must be somehow TS related... I also recall using Ventrilo back in the days just fine on this rig (that is, with mic + speakers as well).

Windows settings:

- Mic listen to device - OFF

- Mic volume - 100

- Mic gain - 0.0 dB

- Immediate mode - ON

- Noise suppression - ON

- Acoustic echo cancellation - ON

TS settings:

- Capture mode - AUTO

- Echo reduction - ON

- Echo cancellation - ON

- Voice activation while PTT - OFF

- Remove background noise - OFF

- Automatic voice gain control - ON

- Delay releasing PTT - 0.1 sec

- Echo reduction reduces playback by - 10 dB

Could anybody help?

Thanks!

EDIT: It happens online as well as off line when testing from within the TS options menu. Just to rule out packet loss/choke.

EDIT 2: The C3PO voice is gone by setting Windows mic control to 48 KHz. Still got the echoing.

Hi JayPee,

I'll compare your settings against mine when I get back home. I was messing with this in the last couple of weeks, because I have a hard time hearing the TS over the DCS engines.

One thing that did take me a while to get was a mic boost -- I had to delete the old driver to get the Microsoft one to load, but I think Creative Labs. I'm using a Zalman ZM-1 microphone on top of my monitor, and 5.1 speakers.

One thing I did do recently was to use my computer volume mixer to dial DCS down about halfway, while leaving the TS and main volume levels all the way up.

Try:

Right Click Speaker, Playback Settings, Levels, Mute MIC?

You should still be able to use MIC in TS, As it Uses the Recording Settings/Audio Stack.

I realized that if I Left it Unmuted on Playback, I'd get an Echo anytime I used a Communications Program (TeamSpeak, Battle Log Comms, iRacing Comms, Etc).

Yup, I have had this happen before with the same echo results.

After I'd set my mic up a couple of weeks ago, I noticed a Creative Labs update, and now that I'm checking the mic properties again I see that things are a bit different... I am back on the Creative driver.

My Windows settings are equivalent to yours -- I don't have noise suppression or acoustic echo suppression.

For TS I have --

- Capture mode - Auto

- Echo reduction - ON

- Echo cancellation - ON

- Advanced Options -- Off

Thanks for the advice although it seems the mic was already muted under the playback settings.

Interesting, I'll see if I can duplicate the problem on my end.

Sounds like something is bridging the MIC and Output CHannels

Teamspeak 3 can't get rid of echo

Update: with mic volume at 100% the issue is gone. However, when I either apply additional mic gain in Windows OR when I apply auto volume boost in TS3 it starts echoing. Currently I have this option set to OFF and Windows mic gain to +0 dB but now people can hardly hear me.
