diveplane Posted December 13, 2013 Posted December 13, 2013 (edited) got to admit the lighting on farp is a frame rate hog. flew the quick mission UH-1H follow other unit to airfield. farp start is system drain, all those lit farps. hoping it can be performace tweaked, or the addition of non lit farps user can add in editor.DxDiag.txt Edited March 29, 2014 by diveplane https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
diveplane Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 tried to disable global lighting, but the farps remain lit think this needs to be tied in with options.LUA https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
diveplane Posted March 13, 2014 Author Posted March 13, 2014 lit farps are still a frame rate hog.. 1.2.7 https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
javelina1 Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 I had a buddy in college, who lit farps too.... :D sorry, couldn't help it. I looked this up, and learned a new thing today.(Forward Arming and Refueling Points). Evil.Bonsai Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 It's a heli thing. Used to play Longbow/Longbow 2 a LOT. FARP is basically your start point for most heli ops.
Paganus Posted March 13, 2014 Posted March 13, 2014 You can try: ["lights"] = 1, on line 56 of \Saved Games\DCS\Conifg\options.lua. It's safe to use this setting again and it might buy you a few frames with the FARP lights.

msalama Posted March 16, 2014 Posted March 16, 2014 the addition of non lit farps You can circumvent this by not adding an ATC unit (M1025 HMMWV or CP SKP-11) to the FARP, because these also control the FARP lighting - see DCS World\Scripts\World\FARP.lua for details. You'll lose the ATC as well of course, but IMO that's not too bad since it really is so rudimentary. And you'll still retain a full reload capability if the other service units are there :) The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

Mack Posted May 11, 2014 Posted May 11, 2014 From the standpoint of wringing every last drop of performance from my system I would appreciate a pointer to any thread discussing methods for running a lean OS like Msalama mentions above. I am doing some extensive benchmarking and would like to see if it does me any good.
msalama Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 for running a lean OS like Msalama mentions above. Hiya mate, I'd recommend you to just google for the info since it's too big a topic to go into here, and also involves some sheer trial and error because every system is different. The DCS Mi-8MTV2.
