GGTharos Posted February 10, 2006 Posted February 10, 2006 Well, we know that the R-27AE was never fielded. The EP is barely fielded and not very accurate. The AMRAAM -does- have a lifting body, and its control surfaces aren't really 'less efficient'. The lattice wings maintain control better at supersonic speeds, that's about it. The R-77 is -claimed- to outrange the AMRAAM, but apparently doesn't do so in a significant manner, if at all (it also has I hear, lower quality actuators - so much for maneuvering ... and ... sustained maneuverabily? Sure, it can fly at 150 deg AoA, but its speed will be shredded) Anyway, not a terribly credible discussion there.
