So I've been having troubles with the Vikhr not launching lately -

Here's my procedure:

1. Turn on TV

2. Slew over target

3. Lock target

4. Turn on laser

5. Navigate laser pip into larger circular pip

This process, although it seems correct never allows me to fire the weapon even though I can clearly see the target in the TV (Note: this happens all ranges, alt, and AoA). I was considering using the weapon override button which I haven't tried yet. Will that button allow me to launch the missile and will it still go to the locked target?

Absolutely I did no such thing!!

Ha - that would be atrocious!!

Now I'm on the hunt for that key - so many kills could have been made!

Does that only affect the Vikhr for the Su-25T or are other guided weapons affected by master arm.

Wow ~ such a rookie over sight - good thing I've been out of sims for so long... I can use that title - for now -

Oh wait. You're asking about the Su-25T, not the Ka-50. In that case, sorry, I'm not sure it even has a master arm switch. But if it does, it should be on in order to launch any weapons.

Sorry if I confused you.

I also just did a quick word search for "master" throught flight manual that comes with the Free DCS download and it's not in there either...

Posted

Yea - no worries =)

All the manual says is put the small pip into the big pip *cough* and you're good to go. It's definitely not the launch button because iron bombs and rockets work just fine.

Posted

Yea just double checked the manual - there's nothing about launcher parameters -

Experienced Su-25T riders from Free version might be able to help sort this out.

Oh, I think I got it. You need to hold the trigger pressed for about a second for the missile to launch, not just press it quickly.

Does LA flash up?

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Yea - I just watched the ED training video on Youtube, and I do exactly what that pilot does and the weapon doesn't fire...the answers out there somewhere lol :pilotfly:

When LA (NP in Russian) shows as solid instead of flashing, you should be able to fire the Vikhr. This occurs when the reticle is over the target and you are in range. Also, make sure your laser is NOT on. The laser will turn on automatically once you fire the missle.

Post the track file.

Kon that just might be it - I always have the laser on... I will try that tonight when I get home. I've decided to turn off all air defenses in the quick missions so I can sort out all the ground attack stuff. I've been taking the game on in very large chunks. I've made progress, now I think it's time to ease back and get a routine started so that there's less thought involved and more fluid action.

Post the trak file?

Also - in all the videos I've watched they lase the target first, but I will try like you say and simply lock the target in the TV and attempt the pickle - LA is usually more solid than flashing.

It's only for the Vikhrs where it automatically lases. For the other missles like the Kh-25L, you must lase first. I know ... confusing.

No - this is all good stuff -

My wife has noticed a change for sure. She goes "wow - you really love your new computer". I asked her why she said that. Her response: "Your completely silent"

It's the learning curve and the challenge that I love the best.

I'm gonna master this dang plane lol.

I will try that though when I get home and see how it goes. As long as the LA is solid I should be within launch parameters for release - no?

If the LA is solid and your laser is OFF, you should be able to fire the Vikhr. For other laser guided missles, I think the LA only shows when you are within the launch parameters and your laser is ON. You can test that for me.;)

Ok - so far the Vikhr's work now. Yes - having the laser active did not allow for the launch. Now I need to work on my patience and not get trigger happy. I made a tank kill in a mission but got wacked by a linebacker going in for a second kill. I should have turned way from the kill box while continuing to drop flare so I could line up for another kill.

You do know there is a launch override switch on the weapons control panel right?

No need to wait for the laser then. Though the lasers lifetime will be shorter.

No need to worry though, most of us usually get shot down before the laser fails.:joystick:

Yea - the Vikhr's work just fine now. I can hit a target in a pass...I've tried for two, but the camera and my flying are just too jerky to pull it off. I buffet on air quite a bit, and for me to pitch 10 degrees is pretty normal.

Ohhhhh - will try that. I'm pretty sure it's my flying though lol. I make drastic strong movements instead of trying to be more fluid.
