Dima89 Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 Hello all, I am currently using a TM T-16000m, which I enjoy using, I think for the money it's a good joystick so I would prefer not to have to change it. But obviously, I am lacking a throttle. I've had a look around and I have seen the Gametrix throttle but trying to get it in the UK gave me a headache. Which brings me to my question, does anyone have any suggestions for a stand-alone throttle? I know people will say get the X-52, which I am considering if I cannot get a throttle. Thanks. (Please don't suggest the Warthog, I know it's the best but I don't want to spend that sort of money..)
PureEvil Posted January 10, 2014 Posted January 10, 2014 CH Products throttle is one option as well. STEAM asus p8z68-v gen3, 2600k@4,5ghz(w/c), 16gb, 1080ti(w/c), ch fighterstick/gvl224-4000-8, ch pro throttle, Oculus Rift CV1+Touch, thrustmaster tx
JHzlwd Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I'm going to re-inforce your inclination to get an X52 (preferably "Pro"). I have a lot of experience with this unit and also TM Warthog. IMO the Saitek is significantly better if you fly Ka50. On fixed-wing it may be another matter but the very stiff action of the TM stick combined with necessity to use pedals makes helicopter control problematic. The Saitek throttle section is excellent (like the TM). Where I fault it is in the fact it could have more programmable controls. For the price of a TM you can get three X52's. With my units I find no real evidence the TM is better made although it is certainly much heavier. To each his own, however. There will always be someone who has had a bad experience with one unit or another. IMO TM and Saitek both make fine products but for me the clear choice is Saitek. Dima89 Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Do you think it would be worth waiting for the X-55 at all?
OverDhill Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 If you like your stick then just get a used X52 Pro throttle off Ebay. That throttle is stand alone and works very well. I hated the stick but the 3 weeks I had it the throttle was great. I have seen some sold separately on Ebay in the past.
Scrim Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I can't say anything about the X52 Pro, but until recently I was using the X52. It didn't cost terribly much, and generally it was quite good, but after quite little use the center movements of the stick just stopped registering. It had a sort of dead circle in the middle, where you could just push the stick and get zero response. I also noticed that the resistance along more well used axis' would provide less and less resistance quite soon as well. Ever since I bought the Thrustmaster Warthog stick I've never really looked back. The one thing that I miss from my X52 is the slider that was conveniently placed on the top of the throttle, which I used for zoom. The TM throttle has no slider placed like that, due to being a replica of a real throttle.
