Eh guys.

 

The last test didn't go so well... and we've been given new marching orders on testing out the 1024 connectivity. Please change your connection settings to 1024 for this test.

 

Can someone with an available teamspeak channel post? I don't want to take it for granted that Ells is available.

 

I've been listening to feedback about the stress test mission (FULL THROTTLE) and added / removed a few items.

 

 

Adjusted:

 

- Added some air starts for common platforms- A10A/C, SU25/T, F15, SU27, P51

- Added some AI aircraft for the fighters on the KC / KP side to chase. These will return fire only.

- Added an AI ground battle line to test AI data consumption... nothing tactical about it- just a bunch of vehicles lined up and running at one another. Ran it yesterday with a lighter load and it worked pretty well.

- Adjusted TOD slightly to enhance the ambiance

- Warm start positions are now ACTUALLY warm start positions. Again, for most common aircraft.

- Added the 476th RANGEs as well as RANGE positions at ANAPA with access only to training munitions. I'm just so stoked about the quality of that mod I think all should see it. It's not for everyone- so please if you're not interested in training with the dummy ordinance, don't go to ANAPA. 476th RANGE MOD MUST BE INSTALLED CLIENT SIDE TO VIEW RANGE MODELS.

- Moved tankers around slightly and actually display which one is which (Shell / Texaco).

- Caged the A2A guys down at Kutaisi / Batumi. They were drifting up to the KC aircraft and too often shooting them like fish in a pint glass... kind of annoyed that anyone would do that- but I guess that's what we're dealing with. Fly out of the main zone, and you get a consistent warning... fly out of the warning zone and you are deactivated. And yes, there's LOADS of room to do battle and LOTS of warning.

- Adjusted the briefing slightly.

- Added a red side FARP for the battle of Maykop.

- Added some artillery to shell Maykop during the GC operations near MAYKOP both red and blue side.

- Turned the "late activation" "visible before start" to "HOLD FIRE" so that units actually appear on the map. There are a few GC open spots for IR missiles and Shilkas around the target areas...

 

Anyway... guys- come on in and have a flight. I've made it a little easier to get in the air quickly in hopes that we can turn up the volume on the actual numbers.

Folks- I got a late start on this one...

 

Sort of happened upon an opportunity- wanted to exercise it. If you go in and it looks like it's already over (it's been up an hour), it's ramping up a bit more slowly. So go on in, try your best to crash the thing... and mission accomplished!

Sorry, I was on earlier and had to leave to run errands, it wasnt a good start to the day anyway, locked up a group of tanks in the target area, shot MAVs, only to find out they were Abrams/Friendlies...

 

Had a Killer Mission last night though, Should run the track and take screen shots.

 

Prolly time for me to re-calibrate everything, as I'm having a constant issue the last week or so with rudder pedals, had a few NASTY takeoff rolls that well, would have got me discharged had it been real life.

Weird... just went back and checked things out and my interface was wiped clean and I had a can't connect to master error.

 

Anyway- we're back up but I think the ship has sailed.

 

I have also started recording tacview files... the server is setup to export as well for those of you who are recording.

all went ok on my side last night, we had that 3dfx ship thing again twice but everything else worked for hours.

 

Just one thing, upon your call to head NorthWest of Krymsk I spend 80% of my fuel and like 45min in the Kamov traveling to the Clash Of Tanks.... Can you put a KA closer to that HotSpot for tonight ?? That would be cooool and save me lots of time traveling at 275kmh and burning fuel like mad. Had to refuel at Krymsk just to find out, by the time I made it there the A10Cs and Su25s had taken down any red tank of that clash, so I headed further North....and endless journey with a KA.

Eh Bit.

 

Free flight KA50s have been moved over to Krymsk and a few slots added. My only issue is that the reason I'm having these two forces duke it out is just to load the server- if the KA50s go in and kill red before they even get in the ballpark... well...

 

 

I've also added some patrols down between Gelen and Novo- not really patrols per se... just convoys moving along the water (Wheel's request).

 

I've extended mission time to 6 hours. Interestingly we have some people crash on mission reloads and some make it through okay. No idea what the relation is... Sweetest stayed online (she's on the same network as the server as am I, 2 feet from my station), and I crashed. It was about 50-50.

 

Anyway- I'm trying to get one of the mods to re-title my announcement above and try to give it one more kick before I go back up to work tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get some numbers in.

 

I did notice some yo-yo last night on 1024... but nobody else complained about it. My theory is that because I'm ACTUALLY on a LAN connection to the server computer that setting to 1024 was actually causing issues that other folks (also set on 1024) weren't experiencing.

 

We'll see today- going to set the LAN computers (attached to the same router as the server) to LAN and see what happens.

Gunter I saw you come in on red and join a KA50... then leave right away. BAST was telling me (last night) that he was joining the KA50 slots and getting booted right away- was that happening to you too?

Hi ENO,

 

as chatted a few hours ago, I had problems with the tower freq of Anapa.

 

My map showed 141Mhz, others told me it's 121Mhz.

Finally i got response on 121Mhz.

 

Any clue/solution so far?

 

BTW I run the german version of World/A10-C.

 

EDIT: DCS_VAD_Charts_A10C says 121Mhz for Anapa and 141Mhz for Beslan. My ingame map (F10) shows group Beslan for Anapa ?!?! Strange...

Just found another problem. I tried AAR and that seems to have crashed the tanker AI. He didnt respond anymore and stopped making any control inputs. He flew straigt ahead with a bank angle of 30°, slowly descending. I tried to contact him until we both had reached 13k feet (down from 16k). At that point i got a server ping timeout. The track is 84MB's because i had already been flying for a couple hours.

Well, the russian tankers both had already landed. I didnt check the other US tanker when SHELL's brain quit, but i didnt hear any RTB also. So i guess fuel wasn't the reason why the tanker crashed. What kind of pattern do the tankers fly? I contacted Shell while he was making a turn. The bank angle seemed like he was just about to leave the turn.

Basically just a big race track- no orbit order...

 

So what I'm assuming then is that the server had already crashed by the time that went on and the clients unhinged.

 

If you want, go ahead and put your crash log in the "127 beta error" thread, or just post it here and I'll put it there.

Track is up now. Well, i dont think the server had already crashed as i was able to do quite a few radio calls in that time. I was flying in formation with the tanker. I guess it was one or two minutes until the crash came. I might be wrong, but im absolutely sure it was more than 30 secs.

Okay. Not unheard of...

 

We used to have that happen a lot during a few different missions- there would be a separation between the client and server but nobody would know about it until the server timed out... People would start complaining about targets they couldn't destroy, guys on fire and whatnot while the targets were being hit by 2000lb ordinance and the guys on fire said they were still flying.

 

Unfortunately in your case, I'm not sure if that's what preceded the crash... guess we'll find out.

 

Usually the above happened as a result of some MIST functions- groups to random zones in particular would cause the floating.

 

I do have a patrol function active- but it had been active for 5 hours or so before the crash.

 

 

Made a few adjustments too-

 

Added respawns for the AI land battle... so whichever side gets annihilated is respawned... eventually they'll destroy the other side... then the other side will respawn. Should help to keep the pressure on.

 

Vize, thanks for submitting that feedback.

 

I noticed what you said about the tanker. Sometimes it's easier to abort the refuel and let it get back on course. It maneuvers much more aggressively to get back on track that way. Otherwise it just wanders left and right until it eventually gets on track and by the it's turning around again.

 

Also, those TERs REALLY slow you down- even with the tiny little practice bombs on there. The idea was that you'd go, do your thing... drop bombs, eject the racks and then go refuel and land somewhere else...or whatever.

 

Going to keep my eyes open for other mentions of that map issue too- I've heard it from our regulars.
