  3. Greetings, In what has become one of the virtual sky's greatest success stories, the Virtual Naval Air Operations team brought forth a new group. Tonight, I am going to tell you a little about some of the things that make us unique to any other group out there. Realism: Our command structure takes a novice pilot and allows him to have a Naval career. From Officer Candidate, a new recruit can promote through the ranks and eventually be given command of one of our Tomcat or Hornet squadrons. Our skin design team can crank out high res and realistic skins for new squadrons that look simply amazing. Training: Even the greenest of pilots can be trained. Whether you are new to the sim, or a veteran of the Lock On skies, theres a place for you in our training program. Our training officers are patient and knowledgeable and will have you trappin a two wire in no time flat. Sim development: Our team of highly skilled developers are working to put together a new Navy-oriented mod that will eventually include a new Tomcat D, Super Hornet, and Super Carrier. These projects are constantly updated in our forums with WIP (work in progress) pics and are coming together in truly amazing form. Not satisfied with simply adding a model or two to the sim, we are striving to create what will ultimately be a complete USNavy Mod package. You don't have to join to enjoy this mod in all its glory, it will be released publicly, but what better place to put this mod through its paces than the only 100% simulated Carrier Operations group in the community. Opportunity: In other squadrons, you can be a pilot amongst leaders. VNAO is the only place where anyone with the drive and determination to lead can one day be given the keys to his own Hornet or Tomcat squadron. Serve in other groups, but you can lead in VNAO. Our new CO's can choose which real-world squadron they want to create, what skins to use in that squadron and how to run that squadron's training and operations from training schedules to tactics. Don't take my word for it, just ask one of the over two dozen pilots we have in our squadrons currently. In our first two weeks, 24 pilots joined us. And though we are still in developmental stages, everyone is having the time of their lives. Come visit us at www.virtualnavairops.com and visit our forums for development pics and meet the men behind the biggest thing to happen to US Navy Carrier Ops in sims since USNAVY FIGHTERS! Thanks Admiral Keith "MadMax" Gorman CO Virtual Naval Air Operations

  4. I thought that this was too cool not to share with those that don't know... You can refuel without holding on to the Ctl+r key the whole time. Simply press Crt+r+m. The chat window will pop up and you will continue to refuel! Press Crl+m to remove the chat window and refuel will still continue. You can also press other keys like Ctl+w to reload while refuelling is taking place. Once you top up refuelling will stop. Just don't take off while you're refuelling like this unless you cancel refuelling by pressing Ctl+r or else you'll dump fuel in the air. You can program the whole sequence to a macro key, CH Throttle, programable keyboard, etc. and then be able to refuel with 1 key stroke. Now while you're refuelling you can grab a beer, hit the can or whatever else you need to do. :pilotfly:

  5. All flight control surfaces are control by the DFLCC or FLCC. There is not physical connection between the pilot and the flight surfaces actuators (called ISA in the F-16 for integrated servo actuator) The reason for the pitch override switch is the LEX (leading edge extension) F-16,SU-27,F-18 and MIG-29 all have LEX. According to some book I have read, because of the LEX, aircraft can maintain hight AOA. The LEX help maintain enough pitch control at this AOA. But at certain region of AOA the horizontal stabs have no pitch command. The SU-27 and MIG-29 deal with this by locating the vertical stabilizers to the edge of the airframe, thus reflecting air to the horizontal stabilizers from the wing. At high AOA this causes the nose to pitch forward creating the cobra maneuver (reference:Sukhoi Su-27 Flanker - WarbirdTech Volume 42 (WarbirdTech) (Paperback) ) The F-18 control the pitch at high AOA by angling the vertical stabilizer again to reflecting air to the horizontal stabilizer for pitch control. The F-16 does this by adding pitch override. At hight AOA the aircraft will try to put the nose down on a F-16. But if the pilot is still pulling on the stick the aircraft will continue to get in a higher AOA state. At certain AOA ( I can not remember the number) the stabs loose pitch command and the aircraft can enter a deep stall. By using Pitch override(AKA kick) the pilot can command the nose down and recover from a deep stall. Here is a interesting article about F-16 FLCC in code one magazine http://www.codeonemagazine.com/archives/1986/articles/jan_86/f16_control/index.html

  7. Me also SF didn't do any problems except making backup copy which at least was successfully made. :D Ok - stop about SF cause mods will be angry :P @Rattler - maybe next time try EDIT posts than write 3 when you can edit it. You aren't here since yesterday.

  10. Sv-rus got it right :) . The ship in the picture is a Pr. 10412 patrol boat built by Almaz ship building company: Project 10412 The Russian border guard operates two variants of this design - namely the Pr. 10410 and 10412. http://www.almaz.spb.ru/home/product/10410.asp They look very similar, but the 10412 has a small forward structure with an AK-630 mount, while the 10410 has a single barrel AK-176M artillery mount instead: Pr. 10410 Yup it does indeed :) - if you look very carefully on the photo you posted, you can make out the small round outline of the AK-630 turret on top of the forward structure - so it is the 10412 variant :) - JJ.

  12. Это не Тарантул. Больше похоже на пограничный (ФСБ-шный) 10412 "Светляк". (No "Tarantul" - PROJECT 10412 SVETLYAK PATROL BOAT of FSB)

Цели - наземка: танки, БМП, ПВО малого радиуса в районе Крымска и севернее Краснодара, около побережья азовского моря. Основные аэродромы: Красные - Сухуми, Синие - Раздольное, но будут исключения.
