If "the community" can be split by an assets pack that costs little in the first place and also comes with a 30% discount, then the community isn't worth very much. This endless song and dance about how this, that, and everything else, "splits the community" is getting very old and very tired.12 points
-
I just fail to see how a $15 asset pack would split or fragment anything. We all have to pay for our toys. And if "the community" don't want to be split, fragmented, rent asunder, folded, bent, or discombobulated, they'll simply have to cough up the 15 dollar-e-doos like the rest of us. Also, and I'll end it here, I've had this discussion before. The end result was I posted that I had two free WWII assets packs to give away. And another guy had one to offer after my two were taken. Three free WWII asset packs total were offered. The exact amount of people who asked for the free WWII assets packs after a few days was... none at all. That was the cherry on the cake of my views of "the split community". That said, I wish you a good day and happy flying.8 points

Dear all, we have cleaned this thread. For now, this thread will remain locked as it has become more work than it needs to be. Currently, we have generally the same 10 or so people debating different things releated or unrelated to this topic. It ends up in angry people, warnings and misunderstandings. When there is something new, it will be added to the 1st post in this thread. If it's something that needs discussion, we will consider opening this thread. 08 August 2025 Dear Fighter Pilots, Partners and Friends, It is with great pleasure that we share a more complete list of the modules coming to the Pacific Theatre of Operations (PTO) Assets Pack. In parallel with other modules like the DCS: F4U-1D Corsair, the free DCS: Marianas WWII Map, and the upcoming DCS: F6F-3 Hellcat, the PTO Assets Pack is designed to provide a rich and detailed array of United States and Imperial Japanese air, ground, and naval units in the summer of 1944 PTO. Many of these units are finished, and others are still in progress; we look forward to your feedback. We are steadily progressing on our earlier released Mission Save State function. Please read the report below to learn about how we are improving this very useful feature. Additionally, we have added several fantastic modules to our Free Trial Program. You can try these aircraft and maps at no cost or obligation. Take them for a spin today! Thank you for your passion and support. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics Pacific Theatre of Operations 1944 Assets Pack Update Since the release of the free DCS: Marianas WWII map and the Magnitude 3 DCS: F4U-1D Corsair, we want to provide an update on the extensive effort being devoted to bringing this scenario to life with the PTO Assets Pack. Learning from some of the European Theatre of War scenarios, the PTO scenario is focused on providing an extensive order of battle for both US and Imperial Japanese forces in the summer of 1944 and to offer an accurate representation of the battle for the Mariana Islands and the Battle of the Philippine Sea. New player aircraft coming for this scenario will include both the F6F-3 Hellcat and the A6M5 Zero. Since our last update on this project, we can now share with you the specific air, land, and sea units being developed for the PTO Assets Pack, which owners of the existing World War II Assets Pack will be able to purchase with a 30% discount: PTO AI Assets: United States Aircraft F6F “Hellcat” SB2C “Helldiver” TBF “Avenger” SBD-5 “Dauntless” PBY “Catalina” P-38L “Lightning” United States Ships Enterprise aircraft carrier Casablanca-class light aircraft carrier Independence-class light aircraft carrier New Orleans-class heavy cruiser Baltimore-class heavy cruiser Cleveland-class light cruiser Fletcher-class destroyer Liberty-class transport Cimmaron-class oiler United States Ground Forces M4A2 Sherman M3A1 “Stuart” light tank LVT-4 tracked landing vehicle LVT(A)-4 tracked landing vehicle DUKW-353 amphibious truck US Marine Corp infantryman US Navy Carrier personnel US Navy seaman Imperial Japanese Aircraft A6M5 “Zero” D4Y “Judy” D3A “Val” B6N “Jill” Imperial Japan Ships Shokaku aircraft carrier Chitose light aircraft carrier Kongo battleship Mogami heavy cruiser Agano-class light cruiser Yugumo-class destroyer Kagero-class destroyer Kashino-class transport Imperial Japanese Ground Forces Type 94 Tankette Type 95 Ha-Go tank Kurogane Type 95 car Type 97 Te-Ke tank Type 97 Chi-Ha tank Type 97 ShinHoTo tank Type 2 Ka-M amphibious tank Type 1 47mm anti-tank gun Type 98 20mm anti-aircraft gun Type 91 10cm towed artillery Type 92 70mm towed artillery Type 10 120mm anti-aircraft gun Imperial Japanese Army Infantryman Japan Navy seaman Mission State Save Development Progress Following the initial release of the Mission Save state feature, we have gathered your feedback for further improvements. Based on this, we delivered an API feature request to our talented scripting community which was well received. Moving forward, a common request has been saving destroyed unit states on the battlefield. We have now tackled this issue, and destroyed static objects will be created in place of each destroyed ground vehicle, aircraft, infantry unit, or static building (not terrain/map buildings) in the Mission Save state. In this sense, the battlefield wreckage remains where the destruction took place. With the Mission Editor, these objects will be automatically given a "hidden" parameter to not clutter the map view. However, if you want to remove them from the mission because of your plot choice, you can find them in the Mission Editor units list and delete them. We will be releasing this improvement in an upcoming update once testing is fully complete. Based on your feedback, our next task for Mission Save state improvements will be to save a group’s waypoint parameters. This work is ongoing and includes the ability to save specific ground vehicles parameters such as ROE and more. New Free Trial Modules Explore new aircraft and terrains for free To help you explore new content, we are expanding our Free Trials Program. Now the old WW2 asset pack should at least be renamed as WW2 ETO asset pack because it does non represent all assets of that period. Inviato dal mio Tapatalk6 points

I always wonder how people who spent thousands of Euros or Dollars on the appropriate hardware for the game argue about the price of a single module or in this case of a cheap assets pack … sorry, can‘t understand.5 points

I don't think he was talking about the invidual assets, but rather change the name of the complete pack, like in the store. [emoji6] Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk5 points

No, research alone for the Zero has been going on for an incredibly long time. It was more about making sure we could do it to the expected level that people expect from a DCS Warbird. We were happy to have M3 doing a module that will fit in nicely with the Hellcat and Zero, but they were not held for the release of any other module. Thanks!5 points

UPDATE v2.72 Finally added working aerial refueling, works both for player (could not do it to test it all the way due to a lack of skill) and AI aircraft, added slats animation, which activates when above 8000m and below 0,8M - from documentation I found. Some SFM tweaks on subsonic regimes. Also huge thanks to Brzoza - @StalkerXDPL for many great new liveries and hopefully many more to come in the future.4 points

Why did you reward yourself the solution when @admiki already gave it to you?4 points

I am not sure the Herc will be any less complex than A-10 (or any other fighter/attacker we have in DCS). Quite the opposite actually. The question is how much of the complexity you can disregard and still get it flying. It will be interesting for sure!4 points

DMAS, no loss, they're rather crap. I run my sound through desktop speakers but for when I was recording video I used wireless headphones. They fit very nicely under the OG and ditto with the Super (and perfectly comfortable too).3 points

Not just assume, they have confirmed it. And, they kind of said they would do it sometime a year or so ago, just not when. So it was always pretty obvious it was always going to be an ED module. [emoji6] Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk3 points

First of all, map coordinates are geographic, not magnetic, so magnetic declination has nothing to do with coordinates being wrong. The magnetic heading of a runway changes, but the coordinates don't. I did a comparison of some landmarks in the mission editor and Google Earth, and they are all pretty much spot on (within a fraction of an arcsecond in most cases): Spandau Citadel, Berlin: Google Earth: N 52°32'27.69" E 13°12'45.51" Mission editor: N 52°32'27.63" E 13°12'46.49" Bridge near Hamburg Planetarium: Google Earth: N 53°35'28.36" E 10°01'29.58" Mission editor: N 53°35'28.35" E 10°01'30.16" Mainspitze, west of Frankfurt: Google Earth: N 49°59'37.29" E 8°17'38.38" Mission editor: N 49°59'36.82" E 8°17'38.94" Neues Rathaus, Hannover: Google Earth: N 52°22'01.74" E 9°44'14.37" Mission editor: N 52°22'01.98" E 9°44'14.67" Fulda airfield: Google Earth: N 50°32'31.32" E 9°38'20.91" Mission editor: N 50°32'33.14" E 9°38'19.03"3 points

Hello friends, After a long time I returned back to my low-poly-MiG-project. So - some things I changed so far: - afterburner modeled - drag chute modeled and animated ( touches the ground when the AI is landing - ED) - pilot shape remodeled and textured - airbrakes animated - the eternal fight against vertex errors continued - bump map textures corrected - landing gear corrected - light settings corrected and some new skins created (Poland ans Syria) So far I would say, for a presentation of one of the most important fighter during the cold war, my work is good enough. Please ignore the download some messages above. After I some damages are modeled, I will upload the work to the community. Thats the news from the engine room. Thank you very much and always happy landings. Cheers TOM2 points

Your previous post. While I don't necessarily disagree with the sentiment, it wasn't conveyed in the most tactful of ways.2 points

This case won't be any different :). The C-130J will be just as complex as most other modules in terms of systems and avionics. You could even say a bit more so, since you'll be managing and monitoring four engines. Of course, the issue of weapons will be eliminated, but on the other hand, we have the option of loading, unloading, and dynamic drop. This will replace the weapon, and here we will have to operate it (e.g., via the cargo master chief). In the module, procedures may play a greater role, you will have full FMC, you will be able to carry out a full SID/STAR approach procedure, you will be able to rely on a voice checklist. The MC-130J will also be a nice option as in-flight refueling support on Multiplayer missions. Contrary to what some people think, this module doesn't mean it's boring. Sure, there won't be any shooting, but it's an addition for people who: 1/ love Herc, 2/ are looking for in-depth simulation and procedures (not fighting only), 3/ are looking for cargo missions, 4/ enjoy large cockpits (it'll look amazing in VR!). The game changer here will definitely be the more expansion of the cargo option (please @Someone put pressure on the ED in this context , including paratroopers) and the spherical earth, where you will be able to do actual long missions from point A to B in different parts of the world (but that will probably take another 2 years or more). I spent a lot of time flying the C-130A in FSX (CaptainSim), , it was some time ago, of course. It was actually several months (dozens of hours) of Hercules flights. I had a blast creating and imagining the various missions, and the simulation was quite in-depth. I can definitely say one thing – I wasn't bored at all :).2 points

I haven't seen the price tag and assumed $30... which will likely be $15 during sales, true that. Not a big deal. Or maybe even less with WWII pack. The story with the giveway is interesting. Maybe people got shy. Happy flying to you as well.2 points

That's my general outlook on many modules. Some modules I learn in depth (kind of) and some it's very superficial. The C-130 will be an in-depth module for me. It's right up my alley of what and how I want to fly.2 points

We have US paratroopers for ETO WWII and some from the VVD's LOMAC rusian modern, but we don't have paratrooper drop animations. I understand it's a very exaggerated effort, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to start seeing some movement by ED, especially with transports aircrafts capable of drop paratroopers. The problem with the ASC C-130J module is that it seems like we're going to have the ability to launch paratroops, but that "2020" US paratroop model is missing...and all the associated functionality, so I'm sensing that it's going to be in 2026.2 points

Things are not as simple as that. In Vietnam many missiles failed because of wrong maintenance procedures, faulty wiring or simply the pilots not being trained enough on the limitations so they fired outside of the missile’s parameters (no tone, out of range, too high angle-off, etc). But other than that, yes deploying countermeasures in DCS is a simple dice roll.2 points

No, I did not know. Thanks for the info. That's probably a big limitation. However, still useful for individuals to download in addition to the upcoming PTO. Bought it on day one as well and one of the most challenging, but fun warbirds to fly. No regrets.2 points

I am the same, I am getting a bit overrun with all the complexities of the jets, take my hat off to the pilots but to be honest they dont spend 8 hours a day writing contracts then try and learn to fly in their spare time. I actually wanted a module like this in DCS because I dont like MSFS, it never seems right. The DCS World always feels authentic and whilst I dont doubt this will be a complex beast looking at the cockpits, MFDs and those Data Input panels the A-10 has (sorry forgot the name MCDU??) I like the idea of learning to fly a Herc, my mate was a Loady on the C-130 and he always used to say "low and slow is the only way to go" spending 6 hours plus transiting from the UK to Cyprus or wherever I didnt agree with him!2 points

Did someone sell you a bridge? Both of the Marianas maps are free. The PTO asset pack is a paid module, not an update. If you own the WWII asset pack you get a 30% discount when the PTO asset pack is available for purchase. It's not yet. Or am I completely missing your question as my reading skills have taken a break today? Cheers!2 points

This is a further, future topic, likely related to DCS v. 3.0, when a spherical Earth would be introduced. Then, historical conflicts could actually be created in the exact places where they once took place. However, that's likely a further topic. For now, the Mariana Islands WWII version remains. Personally, I'm a bit disappointed that the Check Six team withdrew their Australia project, instead of expanding it and changing it to a WWII version, adding a bit more of the map to the north - Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. It would have been possible, and it would have provided a great foundation for DCS PTO. There was quite a discussion about it, and probably many more people would have accepted such a choice.2 points

п. Personally, I enjoy flying the Hook a lot, I just wish development progress was faster. The tandem of Hook + Herc, there's so much potential for synergies in the right missions. Say Hercs supply a larger FOB, Hooks then supply FARPs, and then the "I wanna blow stuff up" crowd actually gets to do that. No supplies, no warheads. Makes people think twice how unimportant those Ash and Trash missions are going to be. And yeah, this kind of scenario certainly isn't for everyone. Well designed SP and MP missions will be a total blast though!2 points

It takes a lot of time to develop, support and maintain a dcs mod. Having neverending toxic discussions like it is done in this community does not motivate and is no fun at all. And the time I spent on this will not come back nor would be payed somehow (except few donations thx) So it makes the most sense to focus on more grateful topics in life.2 points
