  1. (not negative but rather constructive post) I have in mind the SuperCarrier in perspective. This module is not changed since release (may 2020). (Adding light sticks to deck crew and more lights levels is just a cosmetics) Saying "we are waiting for the core game to change". It's been 4 years without any progress. "We are working in the background". It's been 4 years without any progress. "EA is not for everybody". It's been 4 years where I paid whole price. I think there should be some time frames. I do like what ED has done with Afgan preorder - "we're not releasing whole map, next parts are planned in 3 months interval". This is something that shows how long a promise is. Fat cow, water landing, CSAR, internal transport - all cool. But I would like to see some dates. I think ED is rushing this module and I remember what happened to F-16 and the apologies from ED side after that. Two months before the release and "we still don't know what we're going to add". ED, please, be honest with people that loves your product and want to see a clear and transparent seller-costumer policy.

  3. DCS: Afghanistan and DCS: Southwest Afghanistan are now available for pre-purchase and are planned to enter Early Access in June 2024. The vast and varied landscape of DCS: Afghanistan will provide a stunning environment in which to experience some of the most important conflicts of the past half century. The entire map of Afghanistan and small portions of neighboring countries will be available, showcasing our latest map technologies at a superb level of detail and fidelity. You can pre-purchase the full map of DCS: Afghanistan with a special 30% discount at $48.99 during the pre-purchase phase. The early access release price will be set at 20% off ($55.99) until the final release. In addition to offering the whole map as one purchase, and given the immense size of the territory, we have also divided the map into three regions each available for individual purchase: DCS: Southwest Afghanistan, DCS: East Afghanistan, and DCS: North Afghanistan. Each regional map gives you access to the entire Afghanistan map but grants the highest level of detail for that region only. Regions will be released in approximately three-month intervals. The southwestern region is the most complete today and will be released first. Today, you can pre-purchase DCS: Southwest Afghanistan for $23.99. The release price in June 2024 will be set at $29.99.DCS: East Afghanistan and DCS: North Afghanistan will be offered for individual purchase as and when they are ready, later in the year. There will be no pre-purchase price for these, which will be set at $29.99 each. If you wish to gain full access to these at release and wish to lock the best price, we recommend that you purchase DCS: Afghanistan now during the pre-purchase phase. A purchase of DCS: Southwest Afghanistan makes the entire map flyable in single-player and multiplayer, but only the southwestern region will be at the highest level of detail once the map is complete. This FAQ should answer the most common questions you may have. *I Want the Whole Map in High Detail* Excellent! Nothing changes for you and this will be like every map you have bought in the past. You need to purchase DCS: Afghanistan. At the release of Early Access you will have access to the whole map, but only the Southwest region will be in high detail and the others will be in low detail. Once the East region is ready, you will also see this in high detail. Once the North region is ready, you will also see this in high detail. *Why Is the Map Available As Individual Sections?* Please understand that this is one map, and you can buy the whole map in exactly the same way as you can with any other map. If you buy DCS: Afghanistan, you will have the whole map in high detail once each region is complete. However, if you do not want the whole map and are only interested in a specific region, you have the option to buy only that region. If you do this, you will still have access to the whole map, but only the region you wanted will be high detail, and the other regions will be low detail. This is ‘Southwest’, ‘East’, and ‘North’. The reasons for offering the split regions are: 1. Allows a lower entry price if users want to fly one region only. 2. Everyone is able to fly the map sooner. The regions of the map are being completed in stages with Southwest ready first, then East, then North. If we waited until the whole map was ready in high detail the Early Access release date would be much later. What Does DCS: Afghanistan Offer? This Afghanistan map includes the rugged mountain ranges of the Hindu Kush, the vast deserts of the Dasht-e Kavir and Dasht-e Lut, and the many green fertile valleys and river basins of the region. Efforts have been dedicated to accurately portraying the unique cultural and urban features of Afghanistan. This involves recreating cities like Kandahar and Herat, with special attention to landmarks, infrastructure, and architectural styles like the blue mosque of Herat. High-resolution satellite imagery has aided authentic terrain textures and details, while aerial imagery has been used to enhance the accuracy of individual areas. Special focus is being given to the detailing of terrain features, including rivers, roads, vegetation, rocks, small stones, ground clutter and geological formations. The terrain presented is a representation of modern Afghanistan, most closely matching the years between 2008 and 2010. The map has been developed to offer gameplay that spans the many eras of combat in the region. This is our most ambitious map yet and the sheer size, diversity of the terrain, and complex topography of Afghanistan have presented technical challenges, pushing the boundaries of our map-making technologies. Performance optimization and development is ongoing, allowing the map to look good at both low and high altitude. The illustration below details the size of the whole map, and shows how it has been split into three distinct regions: The regions have been divided in a way that offers maximum gameplay and re-enactment potential. The highest level of detail in each provides greater detail of terrain textures, a highly detailed road network, enhanced city scenes, airfield scenes, unique objects and cultural monuments, as well as improved texturing to a variety of buildings, vegetation, static cars etc. Please note that airfields are only planned within the borders of Afghanistan. There are currently no plans to add airfields from neighboring countries. DCS: Afghanistan (total) Area: 1449216 sq km 28 Unique highly detailed airfields DCS: Southwest High Detail Area: 471381 sq km 12 Unique highly detailed airfields DCS: East High Detail Area: 320529 sq km 12 Unique highly detailed airfields DCS: North High Detail Area: 443199 sq km 8 Unique highly detailed airfields The highest level of detail for each region is only available with a purchase of each of the individual region products (Southwest, East, North), or with a purchase of DCS: Afghanistan. Regions that have not been purchased will be flyable but will display a lower level of detail. Please note: The low vs high res areas will be analogous (similar) to what we have with Normandy 1944 and Normandy 2.0 Upgrade option. What Is Included in DCS: Southwest Afghanistan? The image above shows the area that is included in high detail with a purchase of DCS: Southwest Afghanistan. The entire DCS: Afghanistan map will be flyable at launch but is still under development. DCS: Southwest Afghanistan will receive some updates post-release but will for all intents and purposes be feature complete. This region includes 12 highly detailed airfields: Kandahar, Herat, Bost, Camp Bastion, Chaghcharan, Dwyer, Farah, Maymana Zahiraddin Faryabi, Qala i Naw, Shindand, Tirinkot, and Zaranj. The southwest region is currently the most complete and will be released first. The second region to be released will be the Eastern region and finally the Northern region. Please keep in mind that even if you purchase only one region, you will still be able to play online across the whole map with your friends and in your favorite servers, but the non-purchased regions will display lower detail. How Much Will It Cost? Early adopters in the pre-purchase stage will enjoy special discounts. The pre-purchase phase is planned to end in June 2024 with the Early Access release of DCS: Afghanistan and DCS: Southwest Afghanistan. Pre-purchase Early Access Release DCS: Afghanistan $48.99 $55.99 $69.99 DCS: Southwest Afghanistan $23.99 N/A $29.99 DCS: East Afghanistan N/A N/A $29.99 DCS: North Afghanistan N/A N/A $29.99 DCS: East Afghanistan and DCS: North Afghanistan will not receive pre-purchase nor early access pricing. Please kindly note, the pricing above may be subject to change. How Do I Purchase DCS: Afghanistan? Pre-purchase DCS: Afghanistan in the e-Shop, here. Pre-purchase DCS: Southwest Afghanistan in the e-Shop, here. Pre-purchase is not currently available on DCS Steam Edition. We are doing our best to offer Steam users identical pre-purchase options for both DCS: Afghanistan and DCS: Southwest Afghanistan as soon as possible. After early access , we will include DCS: Afghanistan in the two-week Free Trial Program on the e-Shop. The product will then be available for download via the in-game module manager for you to try before you buy. The Free Trial programme extends to most DCS modules; look for the ‘Trial’ button in the e-Shop for participating modules. What Happens if I Buy the Map Regions Parts Individually? While purchasing the whole DCS: Afghanistan map in one go will grant you a significant discount, you may wish to purchase only an individual region if you have a particular interest in that region only. By purchasing individual regions, you are curating the areas of the map that you wish to see in high detail. This option makes the map more accessible for those only interested in specific areas or are on a budget. Purchasing any of the individual regions will still give you access to the whole map in low detail. Those who purchase one region will not receive discounted pricing if they subsequently wish to purchase other regions. To enhance the detail of the map, additional regions may be purchased separately, as and when you wish. Those of you who purchase DCS: Afghanistan as a whole will have the exact same access as another user who would purchase all of DCS: Southwest Afghanistan, DCS: East Afghanistan, and DCS: North Afghanistan individually. Can I Fly with Friends or on Servers if We Have Mismatching Regions of DCS: Afghanistan? Yes, you are all flying the same map and will be able to fly together without issue but the detail that each of you sees will differ. Remember that by purchasing individual regions you are curating the areas of the map that you wish to see in high detail. Those who purchase the whole map will see the whole map in high detail as and when each region becomes available and receives updates during the Early Access phase. Will I Have Multiple Maps if I Purchase Individual Regions? No. All purchases give access to one map and individually owned regions dictate what you see in high detail within that map. If, for example, you own both DCS: Southwest Afghanistan and DCS: East Afghanistan, you will see both of those regions in high detail and only DCS: North Afghanistan will be in low detail. How Might Missions and Campaigns Be Affected by the Individual Map Regions? If you are flying in a region where you do not have access to the highest level of detail, it may be that the creator of that mission or campaign references a world object you are not able to see. Otherwise, there will be no effect. More sources of information: DCS: Afghanistan CasmoTV and Wags interview We are truly thrilled to bring this monumental map to DCS that will allow you to explore and experience a region that has been so important to the late 20th and early 21st century. Thank you all for your trust, passion and support. We look forward to your feedback and suggestions. Please ask any further questions you may have below as comments. Yours sincerely, Eagle Dynamics

  4. Thank you for your reply. Let me explain why this is a decision that can be improved upon. Apart from the fact that Mary, Turkmenistan was the home of Авиабаза 1521, Мары - Центр боевого применения | Airbase 1521, Mary - Combat Operations Center or else known as Soviet Top Gun, this is the perfect home for the full fidelity MiG-23 and the MiG-29. Additionally, together with the Kokaydy airport in Termez, Uzbekistan, they played a very important role for the Soviet Union's operations in Afghanistan from 1979 to 1989 for various aircraft that are available already or are coming soon to DCS World. MiG-21, MiG-23, MiG-29, Su-17/22, Su-25, Mi-24, Mi-8. Since you mention "Soviet operations of the 1980s place Afghanistan as one of the most important combat theatres of the past half century." in your product description, it is only reasonable that we have the airports available to historically re-enact those operations and create scenarios that will bring the community together. If you need more information, please do not hesitate to pm me.

  5. Nice to have a delivery date for this helo, but I will wait a while yet before purchasing, until the Razbam issue has been resolved, as it has hit me pretty hard since I own all of Raz modules, particularly dear to me was the South Atlantic Map.

  6. Amazing how people can be so confused by something so simple... If you want the whole map, buy the whole map. If you only care about one part of Afghanistan, just buy that part. If you just buy one part, you can still fly missions elsewhere, but the map will be in lower detail. If you don't want them to be in lower detail, buy the whole map. It used to be that you could only buy the whole map, and now you can still buy the whole map, but now since Afghanistan is huge and some people only care about some smaller part of it, they have the option to buy that smaller part, and yet are not completely locked out of playing on other parts. This isn't exactly rocket science here.

  7. Dear friends and pilots. We apologize for the long update, but rest assured that we are working on improving our module (it was our mistake to make the update so big). We are currently finalizing some scenes after our internal testing, fixing some internal bugs, and preparing the module for an update. As planned, new airfields were added as announced in the road map. More than 90 new unique and historical buildings + some additional objects that we didn’t plan: an oil platform, new yachts, air balloon and etc... Added unique hangars for the F35 at the Nevatim airfield, as well as parking for them. Improved scenes of Cairo, Alexandria, Eilat and Jerusalem. Thank you for your patience and attention. I am attaching screenshots of the new update.

  8. The very worst Q&A I ever saw. Answers to questions we already knew, about technologies implemented for weeks, if not months. Answers to questions about future as always with the ED - "someday, maybe yes, maybe no", and as we all know official timelines are less accurate than kid's storytells. Literally no info, or answers on current matters or new projects. Q&A no one asked for. Q&A no one needed.

  9. Guys, all this speculation is doing no one any good, let management on both sides work it out and once this is done we will let you know what is happening. Thanks.

  10. I think it's pointless to talk about the same thing all over again but I just want to point out 3 things 1 - for me not giving the list of features but selling a product is wrong (I understand that for some people just flyable module is enough, they don't need more) From a customer point of view, we can (not forced of course) buy an unknown product. I understand that you are not sure what you can finish for the release, hence no list of the features. From company point of view, I think ED is testing (?) the good will of the people or how "blind" are the customers. In other words - let's see how far we can go with empty promises. 2 - I constantly hear "EA is not for everybody but thank you for the support for those who did because we got money to develop the game". I'm totally sure Ch-47 won't be next SuperCarrier which is a peak of "sell, and put it on the shelf" attitude - 4 years after we paid for it, and no changes. So what is the limit of "EA is not for everyone"? We trusted you, helped you financially, in return we got no progress. I'm not saying SC is not playable, but it has long lasting problems and it's missing the parts we paid and has been promised. Saying "this is not an easy task, EA is a long process". I think 4 years is a long time to bring something to the product. Meanwhile.. how many modules where released since may 2020, also in EA and still not finished? Doesn't it look like the company is focused on making half baked product, without any need to finished it? Convince me I'm wrong. 3 - I've created a logistic and csar scripts for my missions and the community. Because of that it's hard to find a person who flies in a plane because they enjoy the logistic part of the missions so much! I know that Ch-47 will probably (probably, because there is no feature list) bring some new logistic stuff. This heli is all about it. But saying "oh, the community will take care of logistic" is bad from 2 sides: - we are not responsible to create tools for the missions (we should use them), - and if we should/could, please gives us the tools and possibility to do so. API is missing functions (adjusting the weight of internal cargo for example). here are not civilian models we can use for SAR/CSAR. Embarking/disembarking troops is meh. We don't know which unit use F10 menu (API returns only group id). Cargoes that heli can transport do not affect missions - we cannot transport vehicles or even artillery pieces; I know we can trigger other units, but we did not brought those units. This is just from the top of my head. I know people who read the forums have nothing to do with the marketing or how the bussines is run. I would like to just leave a statement for those who have authority, that what is happening (since many many years) is wrong, and it shows that the company is taking but not giving. I think we would like to see a steady pace of finishing the products before adding new one. The whole situation in DCS is looking like (just a small joke to vent out my frustration): - Let's build the City of Rome! After building the Coliseum: - Oh, we underestimate the task, the City of Rome is big and it will take more time. LET'S MAKE NEW YORK INSTEAD, preorder with 30% off.

  12. Cargo to the Chinook is like weapons on a fighter plane. It's not just a nice to have, it's the entire point. I hope ED in general can take a good hard look at their customers general sentiment shown here and ensure that their development focus targets what is being asked of them.

  13. I'm afraid I'm definitely with a few commentators here, gashpl pretty much nails it. This new cargo system was first hinted at in this video on the Hind. This video is nearly 3 years old and as far as I can remember there has been no update on it. Now we have a helicopter where this functionality is downright essential and it's still "later on" and we still don't have a list of features we can expect from such a system, other than that it'll be a "novel logistics system" for a select few aircraft and that somewhere along line we might be able to resupply from the CH-47F. I'm sorry but at this stage this really isn't inspiring me with confidence about this module. As I've said before, surely this should've been done before offering up the CH-47F for pre-order, not after? I'm really sorry but speaking completely frankly it's somewhat baffling and worrying that ED found that they were ready to open up the pre-order for this module and start taking money for it, while not being ready to tell us the list of features, even just EA features. Surely internal discussions would've come up with a plan for the module, before offering it for purchase? How can we be in this state at this stage? It is bad enough having EA modules (which I have purchased in the past) with planned features that don't materialise for several years down the line (indeed, there are still some outlying features planned, some we've not had an update on in nearly half a decade) and when features that despite being perfectly accurate for a module and well within ED's capability to implement are omitted. Now we're slipping even further backwards by offering up a module for pre-order, with the list of things we can expect still undecided (or if decided, unwilling to be shared). As it stands I have no idea what I should expect by preordering the CH-47F, aside from a 3D artwork, a flight model and an interactive cockpit, which really should be the bare minimum for a full-fidelity module in DCS World (though saying that, even a damage model isn't mentioned so far) and as it stands I'm completely turned off from pre-ordering this module.

  14. This module feels very rushed to me.First the start of pre-sales without a feature list despite a planned release in 2 month. Now it turns out that the logistics & support aspect that is the whole main purpose of this helicopter will not be available during EA but only at some undetermined future date. If it wasn’t for user-made script solutions there would be close to zero to do with it transport-wise, except sling loading. Really don’t like the direction ED is taking with this one.

  16. I thought the beta patch period is over, and we will get more stable versions? With each new patch we get a new "behavior" of one of the F16 systems, but no instructions on how to use them properly. We are supposed to submit a "bug report" without knowing if it is a bug or a new "feature". How are we supposed to do that if we have to guess whether the current behavior of the F16 is the right one? I don't know right now, is this the right way I'm learning to get the F16 to work, or is this the next new of "1000" workarounds. The last few weeks I have the feeling that with every patch a lot of things become new, and hardly anything works like before. With each patch we have to wait longer for the next fix, and with the fix we get a new "feature" that doesn't always work right, and we have to wait again until the next patch "fixes" it (or adds a new problem/new behavior). I feel like the F16 has a lot of new issues right now (INS, scope, laser code, weapon systems, datalink, etc), and with each patch there are coming more. Actually, I just want to have fun, but ED, you make it really difficult for me to have any fun at all. Fun is currently being replaced by frustration and that really sucks. It's ok if the F16 systems finally work as they should, but do they? I don't know. How so without any actual manual? When will we get the newly revised F16 manual? This manual is the basis for learning things and knowing what is right or wrong. Since the last 4 updates, I have the feeling that changes and how they affect the game are decided by a dice roll (I hope I am wrong). I no longer recognize any system behind all the changes. I'm also beginning to lack the imagination to think that there is still a plan for why things happen the way they do. So what's going on, ED? What is the right doing, to have fun with the F16 again? How long do I have to wait, the F16 is in a good state again? And please, don't ask me what's wrong with the F16 right now. If you want to tell me, there is no big problem with the F16 right now, I will give up in believing in you. Yes, I am frustrated, really frustrated.

  18. Should this really still be being sold ED given that people away from discord will not be aware of any freeze on its development and the ongoing discussions. I add given it now seems like Razbam have lost some lead F15 developers (they have gone public with their resignations) and as such surely there comes a morality issue of still selling a product when you have resonable suspicion you may not be able to deliver the item as specified? Probably worth a temporary hold on all further e-sales until you can hopefully resolve this issue and provide clear consumer direction.

  19. It really is the first EA I have not purchased in 10 years with the limited info given today in the news about it, I already have the F4E and full Afghan map on pre order and was realy hanging out for this helo, I was excited to see the news until I saw this. Highly detailed external and internal modelling, including cockpit and cargo hold Unmatched helicopter flight dynamics that only DCS can provide Fully interactive, VR-ready cockpit I mean that's a bare min for any module even not released and just for internal testing 10 weeks out from the said proposed release date in the trailer and either they don't know what features it will have in the DCS world or are really not willing to tell us ??. Realistically its a logistics chopper so we know what to somewhat expect in DCS but this needs to expand that role in the DCS world of logistics with the likes of it being a mobile Farp (Fat Cow) seeing logistics in side the chopper which was shown in a screen shot and some more, this means base code needs to be added to the logistics core part of the game to support that. I'm really at a loss as to why this information cant be told to us, they will know what's its intended use is and should have a least a baseline list of features for this module that were in place when it was decided to develop it, or what was the point of adding it to the DCS world, to just fly about ??

  24. Will we see updated infantry animations when they are entering and exiting the aircraft? Will we have physical models of infantry/vehicles/cargo in the rear, as currently with CTLD we cannot see infantry in the back of the Huey as an example. Will we have some sort of crew chief/flight engineer (not sure on correct term) giving us call outs and such for landings? Will this be a Multi Crew slot eventually?

  26. Hello Bignewy, thank you for your very detailed reply. I am well aware that you all (the ED team) are working hard to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible. Unfortunately, lately I have the feeling that some things are going wrong with the planning. For me, the F16 module has never been in such a bad state without major features being added. And in my opinion, there have never been so many different problems at the same time. I can't remember for a long time that the F16 was ever in such a bad state. It's frustrating when what's added or improved isn't even noticeable as an improvement, but makes the F16 much more unplayable. Waypoints drift as soon as I set markpoints and turn them into STPTs. Boresighting no longer works at all. HARMs suddenly fly around wildly. GBUs no longer find their target. Confusing altitude information for cluster munitions. TGP need and "rearm" to work after a rearm, and many more. And what's worse, I don't even know whether this is a bug or whether I'm simply operating the system incorrectly now (because I learned it wrong, since it wasn't implemented correctly before). I just don't know anymore, is it me or is it the game. Please, if at all possible, stop putting in half-finished things into the game that break more than it adds in functionality. That's all I wish.

  27. DCS: F-16C | Alignment Procedures To further improve the accuracy of the F-16C INS and GPS alignment system, we’ve implemented significant improvements that will later be rolled into other DCS aircraft like the F/A-18C, AH-64D, and A-10C. Proper alignment based on the GPS-era and a normal versus STRD HDG alignment. Proper alignment is critical for accurate navigation, sensor slaving, and weapon accuracy. Known issue: In-Flight Alignment in pre-GPS era requires additional couple of FIXes in addition to the first two OFLY FIX to calculate the velocity properly. These FIXes can be made in any suitable mode: TPOD, FCR, HUD, OFLY, the only requirement is to keep the aircraft at a straight line between the fixes. Of course, the fixes should be done precisely. Once this addressed in a later update, I will create a in-depth instruction video on this topic. GPS-Era / STRD HDG Alignment First, let’s start with the most common form of alignment in DCS, GPS-era using a STRD HDG alignment. This is the simplest, fastest, and most common for single- and multi-player. With power to the avionics systems, set the INS switch to STRD HDG and then set the GPS switch to ON. It’s important that the MIDS switch remains in the OFF position. After about 12 seconds, you’ll see an ALIGN indication on the HUD. You’ll then verify the STRD HDG alignment by going to the DED INS page and check the latitude, longitude, and altitude against your location on the F10 map view. After about 60 seconds, you should be aligned and confirm this by the ADI flags being retracted; HSI showing correct magnetic heading, DME, bearing pointer and CDI deflection; roll and pitch correct on the HUD; and RDY should be flashing on the INS alignment DED page after less than 2 minutes. We can now switch the INS switch from STRD HDG to NAV. On the DED INS alignment page, confirm that GPS TIME is displayed one minute after the GPS switch is set to ON. Note that this may take longer if the aircraft is under cover like a hardened aircraft bunker. As such, it is best to align out of cover. With good GPS TIME, set the MIDS switch from OFF to ON. After alignment with GPS correction, you can expect no more than 40 meters of INS drift. Further, if you zeroize the GPS or are flying a REDFOR Viper, you can expect an INS drift of 100 meters or more. GPS-Era / Normal Alignment A normal alignment is much like the STRD HDG Alignment, but we’ll need to manually enter the aircraft starting location because we’re not using a known, STRD HDG location. To start though, we’ll in the INS switch to NORM and not STRD HDG this time. Then set GPS to ON, verify MIDS to OFF, and wait for ALIGN on the HUD after about 12 seconds. The big difference is now going to the DED INS alignment page and entering the aircraft’s latitude, longitude, and altitude as shown on the F10 map. Once done, we’ll verify ADI, HSI, and HUD as before and wait for the flashing RDY indication on the DED INS alignment page after about 8 minutes. Once flashing, set the INS switch from NORM to NAV and verify GPS TIME indication. With that, set the MIDS switch from OFF to ON. These will be the most common alignment scenarios when performing a cold start. However, you may come across a mission or campaign with a date prior to the GPS era. In that case, we’ll only align based on INS with no GPS correction. Non-GPS Era / STRD HDG Alignment Like the GPS-era, set the INS switch from OFF to STRD HDG and wait for the ALIGN indication on the HUD. Then, verify the DED INS alignment page latitude, longitude, and altitude to the F10 map data and verify ADI, HSI HUD, and wait for the flashing RDY indication. We can now move the INS switch to NAV. Once airborne, you’ll then want to conduct alignment FIX procedures using Overfly, targeting pod, HUD, or FCR to remove accumulated INS drift. Please see the earlier videos on fix taking. Non-GPS Era / Normal HDG Alignment The last weight-on-wheels we’ll look at is doing a normal alignment at a mission date prior to GPS. Set the INS switch from OFF to NORM and wait for the ALIGN indication on the HUD. From the DED INS alignment page, enter the aircraft’s latitude, longitude, and elevation using the F-10 map. Next, verify the DED INS alignment page latitude, longitude, and altitude to the F10 map data and verify ADI, HSI HUD, and wait for the flashing RDY indication after about eight minutes. We can now set the INS switch to NAV. Once airborne, you’ll then want to conduct alignment FIX procedures using Overfly, targeting pod, HUD, or FCR to remove accumulated INS drift. Please see the earlier videos on fix taking. So far, we’ve only been talking about weight-on-wheels alignment procedures. We’ll now shift gears and discuss in-flight alignment. We’ll start with the more common GPS-era procedure. GPS-Era / In-Flight Alignment First, set the INS switch to FLT ALIGN and flight straight and level until the ADI flag is retracted. You’ll see INS FLT ALIGN on the DED and STBY on the HUD. Maintain straight and level flight and enter your compass magnetic heading within 20 seconds on the DED and verify that the pitch ladder is displayed on the HUD. Continue to fly straight and level until the ALIGN is replaced with the maximum G value on the HUD and then return the INS switch to the NAV position. Non-GPS-Era / In-Flight Alignment Last, for an in-flight alignment with no GPS, set the INS switch to FLT ALIGN and fly straight and level until the ADI OFF flag is removed. INS FLT ALIGN should appear on the DED and STBY on the HUD. Fly straight and level and enter your magnetic heading on the DED within 20 seconds while ALIGN appears on the HUD, replacing the maximum G indication. We’ll now perform an OFLY FIX within the next 30 seconds. It is required we perform a second OFLY FIX within two minutes to correctly perform velocity calculations. Keep flying straight and level, and once the maximum G field replaces the ALIGN indication, you are done. For best INS alignment, you may wish to perform an OFLY, HUD, FCR, or TGP alignment every 15 minutes for best possible navigation and acceptable weapon accuracy. Manual Alignment as Backup The manual alignment is a backup alignment designed to provide get-home capability only.

  34. Just a few thoughts: First, I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding between what the community is saying, and what ED is hearing. Nobody is questioning the quality of DCS flight models, or the implementation of (most) systems, or what have you. I'm sure all those things will be amazing in the Chinhook. What many in the community are trying to say is that our enjoyment of those systems is inextricably tied to the quality of the environment they are put in. You can imagine a sim with even more numerous and realistic modules than DCS, amazing weather and ATC, but no combat - that environment would immediately not be of interest to many of us, despite the presence of better modules. You can not give feedback on a module without talking about the environment it's flown in. Second, I think the reasoning of "if EA is not for you then don't buy the module" is very flawed. The entirety of DCS is in EA in some way or form, to the point where we have given up the pretense of having a Stable and Beta branch, it's just Beta now. What you are essentially telling many of us when you say "EA may not be for you and that's fine" is really "our product is not for you", which I think is very silly given ED has a near monopoly on the high fidelity combat sim market. Finally, and this is the most frustrating thing to say, I feel like the misunderstanding or breakdown between the community and ED is so deep that I no longer believe giving feedback will actually improve the product. I'm writing this post because I need to get some frustration off my chest, not because I think it will in any way help DCS achieve some of its potential. edit: I also want to add, I realize the points I made are not something Nineline or Bignewey are expected to address. I wish I felt like they were being relayed to whoever makes decisions at ED though.

  35. This post couldn't have been worded more perfectly. Let me start by saying that I'm very grateful for DCS, I love what ED and its 3rd party partners have produced. I own a great number of modules and maps and regularly struggle to choose to fly the F16, the F18 or the F15E because I love them all. But, I'm also not someone who enjoys being taken advantage of. I'm a 'proud' owner of the SuperCarrier module and I'm disappointed that the features that were road mapped for this module haven't eventuated. Also pretty miffed about the F15E saga but that's not a story for here. I like what is proposed above and I think it would alleviate some of the annoyance I (and I'm sure others) feel about features that are promised or road mapped, and then either never eventuate or take years upon years. Especially when they're core features like what is being proposed for the Chinook.

  36. Thanks, Beldin for your great photos. I was looking at the USS Bowen the other day. She needs to be reworked. Yep, older ships are coming. I didn't know much about texturing when I released the older vessels like the Bowen and Bainbridge. I will add Bowen to my Shipyard list to be worked on. I improve the textures. Every day I practice texturing ships in Substance Painter to stay busy. I've found that texturing ships in SP reduces the time it takes to create ship mods. However, I need to work on reducing the number of objects that need texturing because the more objects the more textures. At least 6 textures per object. It adds up after a while. Last night I worked on the USS Farragut. Just practice. With that said. I need to fix the amount of objects being textured before releasing the Italian ships. *** On another note I will be away from PC from now until Apr 29th. So I will not be responding to any comments for a few days. Thank you all for your continued interest in the AI Ship mods.***

Name/Username Your Question: ANSWER FOR PUBLICATION dutchchili Realistic missions requires sheer numbers of planes and ground units. What can we expect this year in terms of performance improvements to facilitate such missions. Both in single player and multi-player? When delivering MT we saw improvements to MP sessions. As the simulation's size and user expectation grows, performance improvements are not often easy and simple to deliver, especially when we integrate more graphical and visual updates. The implementation of DLSS, FSR, and Vulkan will (in future 2-3 years) both give improvements and increase our scope to facilitate continued performance upgrades. However, performance vs graphical beauty is always a compromise affected by hardware. As components improve, so will we. Mason0920 The multithreading update was a huge improvement for overall performance, Does Eagle dynamics have any future plans to improve the game engines performance going forward? Yes, we have multiple plans to improve the performance, but users must not expect any magic button. The delivery of MT and DLSS have been well received, and FSR advancement will help too. We're working on Vulkan, but this will give us the platform to expand from rather than an immediate boost, so after initial delivery please do not expect anything significantly noticeable for some time while we work at it. Every time we add new features and updates the additional complexity means more performance is always required and it is a constant battle. K6D Are there any plans to incorporate Nvidia or AMD frame generation technology? I have used it in Microsoft Flight Simulator and it has greatly enhanced my experience, especially because I play at 4k 120hz. Without it, the unsteady frame rates tend to bother me a lot. Not in the near future. But later 100%. Phoenix 1-1 | ViperForce Will FSR 3, and other general performance improvements be added to the core engine in the near future? We are working on Vulkan API as a necessary step to advancing FSR. If FSR 3 will have Vulkan support in future, we will plan to integrate it. This will not happen in the near future. *Freelancer* Jaghammer What is planned for future Multithreading implementation/improvements? eg split DCS graphics or Simulation pipeline into more threads We already have two independent layers. Graphics being what you see and Logic translating how it all behaves. So far, MT has been implemented into the graphics layer. The next big improvement will be successful implementation into the Logic layer, but we cannot share a timeline for this, other than it will definitely not be complete this year. JET4LT How is the rendergraph engine progressing? Can we expect to see hardware agnostic upscaling tech such as FSR3 in the near future? The Render Graph is evolving but we have no details to share right now. We are with FSR1 and are implementing Vulkan which will allow steps to FSR2 and maybe FSR3 if support is introduced (FSR3 is at the moment DX12 only). This will not happen in the near future. Snowblind How are the core tech enhancemts coming? Is the multi core as good as it’s going to get or should we expect more performance improvements to come soon (within a year) We plan to deliver more performance improvements and currently working on them. We will deliver them on-by-one and some of them will be done during the year and others will come later. suti1979 Could you make more effort to finish multithreading? It's unusable for me and most of my friends. (my setup: i9 12900, 3060Ti) Unusable: laggs, freezes, slow, no improvement on fps at all. Please, report the bugs and provide tracks. We need to understand in details what is going on for you. Because a lot of people received the improvement of the performance. We would like to focus on your cases. Vojtěch Oujezdský Will DCS ever support ai upscaling? This was introduced with DCS 2.9 Raven (Elysian Angel) Burning question since DLSS was announced: what happened to ED’s stance on not incorporating proprietary technology? Why not focus on FSR (2 or 3) instead, even though it is widely considered to be inferior to DLSS at this time: it is open-source after all… DLSS has been implemented. FSR 1 is implemented and we are working toward integration of Vulkan API which will allow us to explore FSR 2 and beyond. ZeakQ Will you implement newer versions of DLSS? We support 3.5.10. Yes, we will implement further updates. Loukuins When does DLAA and DLSS will be implemented? Implemented. PricklyHH72 Can we expect further roll outs of the multi-threading system for DCSCORE, or is it complete? We delivered graphics MT which we announced and worked on. There will be another round for Multi Threading to be implemented into logical level of the game. We have already started to work on it in several areas such as ground units. We will not talk about time lines and milestones. The logical level will be improved step by step and MT will be partially delivered at each stage. Fwood2 Are you gonna make DCS have better performance Our work on MT, DLSS and Vulkan demonstrates our commitment to improving DCS performance Thank you for your input and dedication to DCS. We look forward to sharing more with you soon.

  39. The Supercarrier was an important module for DCS and yet we are here 4 years in with no deliverables at all except night wands and spooky crew at Halloween, and plenty of empty promise's that are now being put back even more as its said at needs Vulcan. As much as I want to fly the Hook after reading the FAQ, I feel this will be another SC with a long wait for the items in that FAQ, so far ED seems to have a lot on its plate with promises made in this years news letters, Air ground munitions, Dynamic campaign weather system updates, ECM, ATC, in game radio, ground AI updates, and much more, plus we have older modules still in EA with no updates. (not in the news letters) If the logistics is high priority is it higher than adding the missing promised features to the SC, where does it sit in the que ??

  40. Hi everyone, The Split Air is a French group of pilots and modders on DCS that you maybe know from Virtual Air Festivals airshows with some of our teams such as the Wolf Delta or the Rafale solo display and many more. We're also known for our previously published mods, such as the Rafale/M2000ND and OV-10A Bronco, which have been well-received by the DCS community. Our upcoming project represents a significant leap in quality for DCS free mods: the Alphajet. If you don’t know this trainer jet, you will love to fly it on DCS World when the mod will be ready. The mod will offer the best fidelity, featuring a specific EFM ! We put a special attention into the flight model with a new modelisation, as far as we can say the result is perfect. For now, you can catch a sneak peek of the project's progress on our Discord server. The mod is currently 80% complete and we are giving the maximum to have it fully ready as soon as possible. Help us by showing your support in sharing the news and fly it when it will be out. We can’t wait to see the community flying this wonderful aircraft.
