  2. AI-9V APU Hey there, On Mi-24s, the AI-9V APU's maximum constant running time is 30 minutes (not in case of an emer). If Ka-50 has the same type (TV3-117s need air pressure for start-up), this time can be the same. Also on Hinds, AI-9V provides air pressure and 28.5 V DC with its starter-generator. In an airborne emergency, you can use this air pressure to restart your engine(s), BUT only in a case that you exactly KNOW why did they stop: e. g. you were @sshole with the fuel system:) or you stopped one of them at your single engine flight. If you don't know why did they stop, failed engine(s) restart is prohibited. I think every engine stops are cause of a failure, TV3's are very dependable stuff, so you shouldn't restart them. In a case when both 208 V AC generators are failed, you must start AI-9V, and you must use the DC generator mode. If not, your batteries have only 8-9 minutes, after that you will fly, but without anything ( fire fighting system, gauges, instruments etc...) Sh*t happens... You have hydraulic pressure if your rotor system is operating, hydraulic pumps are on the main gearbox. I think most of helos have the same method: the rotor will run w/o engine(s) at autorotation. AI-9V's maximum EGT is 880 °C at start-up, 750 °C during TV3's crank-up. It has four checking lights: "Auto start-up running" green, "Oil pressure normal" green, "RPM normal" green, "RPM high" red (Hind). If these are useful for someone... THX!

  3. I was just wondering if any skinners out there would be interested in creating a new UI for Lock On to spice things up a bit. The one we have now has been the same ever since Lock On first came out! (excluding the one additional picture of the Su-25T added to the bottom of the main UI when FC came out). So I just wanted to throw this idea out there and see if anyone with photoshop would like this idea, and help me with this project. In particular, I was hoping someone would create a higher resolution UI or more specially, a widescreen UI since a lot of people are running on that recently. I'm currently using a modified version of the main, along with 2 small mod of my own: the loadout background and the loading screens This is what mines currently looks like now As you can see, it cannot compete with the awesome FUI of Black Sea Operation. But since that's not going to come out, neither will these FUI. So I propose we start our own thing. We have plenty of talented skinners around here. I have plenty of pictures and ideas, anyone care to help?

  4. In another twist, I suddenly became an Su-25T afficionado. As it happens, I totally misunderstood how you had to fly it. I was constantly jerking around with the stick, and felt it always seemed to have this tendency to drop out of the sky like a brick. After several threads also involving Yo-yo it already emerged that you had to trim the aircraft to fly it right and use the autopilot, but I never really bothered, in my view trimming was for airliners, and autopilot equals boring. Fact is however that you have to "fly-by-trim" the aircraft. If done properly, it flies like a charm. Just use one of the hat-switches for trim and fly the aircraft that way. The autopilot is a dream, and indeed a necessity. I prefer NOT to load the Vikhr's though. They have a very negative impact on the Su-25T's flight performance, and precisely in the domain where it excells: at high speed. It can fly incredibly fast when loaded with slick weapons like Karen or Kilter missiles. Very important to make stingers bite the flares and not your tail. I'm in the process to make Su-25T copies of my A-10 missions, and it emerges you need to adjust a lot to the flightpath, initial attack point etc. to make them Su-25T-flyable. You need enough distance between each waypoint and have a straight, gently diving attack profile. So I guess my main mistake was to come from A-10 flight to Su-25T without adapting. The fact that you have no inertia modelling in the A-10 makes that you can fly it at will jerking with the stick. That is not a good habit anyway, since you often get in a sideslip and do not fly at the aerodynamic optimum trajectory. I just post this for eventual newer players that share the same worry about how to fly the Su-25T. Are there still newer players BTW or have we grown old together playing this game :cry:?

  5. Ive been around...Im very surprised to see my account unbanned. Im over at lockonfiles anyways as well as beta testing for sim-mod reload terrain. Other than that, been doing retraction tests on a non-flyable 747 last week under instructions. I get mine.

  7. Вот слова военного летчика: С Днем нашей Победы, Максим!!! Спасибо за поздравление и за приглашение. (...Операционка при чем, т.к. на ХР сейчас таких глюков нет...) Завтра я уеду недельки на две, потом, если даст Бог - буду жив, обязательно присоединюсь к вам. Хорошо? По поводу ракеты: 1) "ПР" выдается устойчиво в том случае, если целеуказание ракете выдается от РЛПК или КОЛС, и при этом есть измеренная ими дальность до цели, которая в свою очередь должна быть в пределах разрешенной. Если "ПР" не горит в этом случае устойчиво (мигает) - ракету пустить "в автомате" невозможно. И, если "ПР" в данном случае мигает (свидетельствует о захвате цели ТГС при отсутствии дальности или ее несоответствии), то пуск возможен после включения ПОДГОТОВКА РУЧН., т.е. "вручную". Дальность в этом случае определяется глазомерно. (ПОДГОТОВКА РУЧН. - это снятие блокировки пуска по дальности). 1а) Если прицеливание выполнялось в режимах ОПТ, ШЛЕМ, "Фи_0", и ни РЛПК, ни КОЛС не захватили цель - то есть не измеряется дальность, но есть захват цели головкой ТГС ракеты, "ПР" будет мигать. Пуск возможен без включения ПОДГОТОВКА РУЧН. Дальность определяется глазомерно. В рассматриваемых выше случаях ракета полетит к цели, но, если с дальностью вы ошибетесь - просто не долетит до нее. Поэтому при захвате РЛПК или КОЛС нет смысла снимать блокировку по дальности, за исключением, если дальность не измеряется из-за помех. 2) Если именно ракета цель не захватила - "ПР" и не горит, и не мигает - ракету вы не пустите. Это технически не возможно. Поэтому о захвате на конечном этапе речи быть не может. Корекция радаром, о которой Вы, Максим, говорите, относится к радиолокационной головке ракеты Р-27Р(ЭР). Тепловая головка ничего радийного в себе не имеет. Вообще это непросто было бы осущестить, т.к. ИК ГСН имеет очень узкое, по сравнению с РЛ ГСН, поле зрения... Надеюсь, удовлетворил Ваше любопытство. Дерзайте! И до встречи! Лично я умываю руки, и соглашаюсь с тем что Р-27ЭТ без ПР не возможно. Меня убедили...

  8. Рустам, а ты ещё Black Helicopters от СуперВаси посмотри! :thumbup: СуперВася делает отличные сюжетные ролики, кроме крайнего. Смотреть их всегда интересно, потому как действие развивается, а у Амраама зачастую несвязные нарезки, хотя он умеет выделять очень интересные моменты. Мне нравятся оба, но СуперВася больше.

  12. AirTito, Thganks for the additional info on the Ka-50 APU. If I researched correctly, the Ka-50 (and most all Kamov machines) use the AI-9 APU, while almost all Mil machines use the AI-9V. I am not sure the precise differences between them, perhaps it is only the difference in the STG-3 starter/generator? Also, it is good to hear that the Ka-50 has an accessory gearbox that allows the APU to power the generators and hydraulic pumps, although it must be connected and disconnected by ground personnel. The Apache, for example, has an accessory gearbox attached the the main gearbox. The APU has a driveshaft that connects to the accessory gearbox, and all of the normal main gearbox accessories are attached to the accessory gearbox (generators, hydraulic pumps, and air compressor). This allows the APU to provide power to all accessories on the ground, and it also allows the main gearbox to drive them in-flight. All without any extra work to make it happen. It is very helpful to have this setup and I was surprised not to see it implemented on Mil aircraft when I started to work on them. Admittedly, it is an old design, so perhaps that is part of it, but other than that, I am continually amazed at the simplicity of maintenance required for Russian aircraft, they were clearly designed to work in the mud for long periods of time. Just keep them greased and they are happy (for the most part)!

  14. No need to be scared, pal. I can't provide immediate examples of what exact damage a shared resistor can cause, but I assure you using individual resistors would only yield better result. This is what I do, take a look at the attached picture and see how many resistors are used. This is the PCB for a dot-matrix LED screen. Each cathode has been connected to a resistor. This eliminates the possibility of cross interference between different LED's.

Kusch ,that's photo is no good example becouse if flying like that all time : you have big chance crash like in your photo - ALWAYS and special security systems is useless Sundowner no matter which one helo you fly.I tell more , during this flight was two pilots ,crew chief and 5 people on board ......two people down -crew chief and one soldier in cargo (hit the head becouse don't have helmet) rest still alive without complicate casualties. About armor .... hind is flying tank but this don't mean that he is bulletproof at all.Example: One bullet hit oil pipe makeing leak oil ...10 min engine working without oil enought time before that crew was land for safety. Thats was one bullet but was unlucky sytuation :from 4 o'clock low. For end : Hit the ground from about 10m ....everyone survive,not so bad. My conclusion - hind meaby not super weapon but still usefull (and my prefered). About crasch ..... depend on sytuation , remember that.

  16. It's exactly the same for helicopters and in BS too- that's why engine and APU crank is modeled to vent the engine from excessive fuel in the combustion chamber.

  20. воздушный бой Эффективная дальность стрельбы из пушки по маневрирующему вертолёту 100-300м, если дальше, то в пылу атаки можно быстро остаться без БК.А что в ЧА, какие дальности заложены и вероятность? Хочется морду вражьего пилота видеть, перекошенную от ужаса, а не падать от его меткой очереди с дальности в 1км (пока у русского солдата есть спички, сало, самогон - мочись в штаны солдаты НАТО, дрожи от страха ПЕНТАГОН!):pilotfly:

  22. Finally! Considering the nature of Black Shark, this(and the Avenger) should be the very first ground vehicles to remake :) . But IMHO it would have been better to texture it with the camouflage paint scheme.

  23. I hit your site and it comes up ( home page ) for a secound, then I get a Internet Explorer page that states, Error HTTP 404 not found, I can get the stats page but its only the heading, no stats boxes. I'm register as herig1 on your site. Does anyone else have this problem ?
