  1. Sorry to bump this, but I too am a little confused. I'm trying to convert some BS1 skins over. I've already pulled the images out as .bmp & also have paint.net to convert to .dds files. What all do I need to do in order to at least make them modman install possible (to share with the rest of the group)? description.lua? graphics.cfg? Please explain like I'm an idiot. I'm ignorant enough in this area to carry the label.
  2. They said US fixed wing at first. Later (in the above linked announcement), they specified a "jet". I have yet to see anything saying "fighter". Logically, it's safe to assume it's a fighter, but since ED's policy is to naysay, I'll believe it when I see it.
  3. I'm eleventeen. Soon to be twelveteen.
  4. A mod of your mod - Ballistics Data added here (feel free to include it if you update again). Thanks again for making such a badass pit.
  5. AI would certainly be irritating (intercom menus), but I suspect voice command software would fill that void nicely.
  6. It was an expansion of BS1 map, released with BS2. I think we're saying the same thing heh. What I want? For you to quit trolling so the grown-ups can have a conversation. Seriously, anyone with 3oz of intelligence will see not only the question in the first post, but also see it in the third...you know, the sentence that ends in a question mark (as you suggested)? Oops? Yeah, your bad. :music_whistling: Thanks again Eth. I did see it, but that looks more like a comment to the current landscape activity, not plans for later on. I guess the answer(s) I was looking for was.. Yes! We have plans to expand the map but it may/may not be with the P-51. OR No, we will not release a map; terminating what we have been doing (which is adding/expanding on the map at every new aircraft/update)
  7. It would close if people actually read the first post.
  8. I didn't ask about the current status of the map. Really? I didn't ask about a world war II era map (read the first post). I asked about a map, ANY additional map (ideally a part of europe). Hence the word I used was "assume", but ty for clarifying that. Absolutely! In the Blackshark2 Announcement topic this was included...
  9. Since this continues to be overlooked/missed/ignored in other topics, I'll make it it's own subject so the discussion/questions can be more specific Just as I suspected. Although arguments on both sides of the fence make sense, I'm glad that it was announced that future capabilities will be given to the user to tailor the environment (should they prefer a robust WWII era setting). In this regard, it's win-win, but unfortunately that only answers half the question: Will there be a map released to compliment this new aircraft? As I've noted before, the Nevada map was included with the A-10 (at least the declared fee removal for it was). We've also seen an expansion of the initial map included with the BS2 upgrade. On one hand, it looks like there's at least an attempt to fill the landscape along with upgrades/releases. At the same time Nevada is also making it obvious how much time it takes to complete it (although I think it's safe to assume the landscape folks were pulled off Nevada to work on the BS2 expansion). I'm just asking for a little clarity, not promises.
  10. Once I get Mission Planning down, I'll be using the wife's voice for a few roles. She has a really nice, slight southern accent. At the same time, this is modern day, so I'll probably add Bruce at some point too.
  11. I think there is enough demand for a 2-seat anything really. I know in a few (one particular at least) FSX circles some enjoy the luxury of having someone else in the pit with you. I think I've said this before somewhere else, but a DCS single seater vs a DCS 2 seater is the difference between a home run & a grand slam. But that's not what the OP meant... You're talking like being the pilot's third eye while having the same pit access/capabilities. I don't know how I feel about it really. Yeah it would be good, but realism would kind of drop a bit. Let's not mention having to deal with 12 year olds who are lazy to look themselves & will nag "just join my pit and show me". Actually, I hate the idea now.
  12. Actually, no. The wailing and gnashing drowned out those of us in that beast of a topic that were saying the exact same thing. It's unfortunate, but really no surprise that they were overlooked when every new day generates 10 pages of responses from folks who don't bother reading the very first post.
  13. LMAO, is it really that bad? Ok, in english.. I'm looking for images for AUTHENTIC Modern Russian Ka-50 pilots wings. Google has provided really confusing results. I'm hoping either someone already found it & can provide links, or your searches will prove heaps better than mine. Sorry for that failed attempt guys, but thanks for responding nonetheless.
  15.:thumbup: I too dislike the poll options. Offered instead... "I welcome Flying Legends as long as it doesn't hinder progression elsewhere...isn't the developmental bottleneck obvious enough?"
  16. Ah nice, I wasn't aware of that. I recently watched a special where they traveled to the UK (ironically there were comments from a few folks from TFC). Good stuff. I too hope they make the transition. Although (from what I gather) it'll be a bit tough to relearn the aircraft, I'm sure it'll be quite rewarding for both pilot & viewer.
  17. Actually, if ED released a modern trainer, I think the virtual squadrons as well as the casual player would go nucking futs over it. Although, it would necessitate the need for a 2-crew pit. I don't think there would be a lot of complaining. That, of course, is another topic.
  18. Is no one forming The Virtual Horsemen Aerobatic Team?
  19. Because we fly modern aircraft in a modern day environment. It's pretty easy to understand their frustration. At the same time, DCS isn't based on a WWII theme. This is great news for the die-hard P-51 fans, but not so great for the die-hard WWII crowd. Mind you, the announcement only presented the plane itself, nothing more. This is why some of us have asked that ED at least throw a bone to that group and add WWII equipment & a map (even partial) where the WWII junkies can enjoy a somewhat realistic environmental experience for their pew pew time. Were the same points not raised for the A-10/Nevada map?
  20. Indeed, very true. Even with that said, I think it's a far-fetched idea to base a conflict between Russia & South America in a Hawaiian landscape. Too extreme? Without a European map, I suspect that's how WWII fans will feel when they duke it out with those baddie Germans over Georgian skies.
