  1. The install wasn't ready. So I made cupcakes. The install still isn't ready. But these are ****ing good cupcakes.
  2. Some of us have waited years. A mere small hiccup, all things considered.
  3. It's not unrealistic due to inventory or even lack of (which really is a weak argument), it's unrealistic due to the feasibility of deploying them. Besides, trumping/overpowering always (ALWAYS) equates to idiotic ass-hattery. I'm glad someone has already mentioned Falcon...
  4. Yeah, I can't do this year either, unfortunately. As a kid I was in Civil Air Patrol and we used to always work the airshows and other fly-ins both at the airport & at Benton. There's also a program down in Red Bluff (held annually I think) where your kids can get a free ride in a private plane as sort of an introduction to aviation. I love this area for that. A lot of aviation-rich things happening. Now if people would stop setting stuff on fire...
  5. I'm in Anderson, so pretty much all inbound traffic is right overhead. It's quite nice to hear all the noise...not including the thunder these last few days. It'll clear up for tomorrow, but overcast on Sunday. It should still be a good weekend nonetheless.
  6. Not true. TOW ("Tube-launched, Optically-tracked, Wire-guided") The first Cobra that carried the TOW missile was the AH-1Q, which was later upgraded to the S--the version illustrated in the below schematic.
  7. Ditto, at least if the Super Cobra didn't pan out to be a viable option. Besides the obvious in Vietnam, there's a bit more plausibility/playability as a "plain" Cobra with the F variant. Another good region for the F could/would be pre-90s Israel as well.
  8. I can appreciate that, but I don't know. I hate the S as an option to be honest. It's the middle ground between the Vietnam era G and the more modern W. It smells like a stop-gap option just to get something out with the intent to make people happy, yet my guess is neither sides of the spectrum will be overly thrilled by it. People have been excited about Vietnam-era aircraft as of late, even the hopeful wish for the actual theater be a future possibility. With that said, folks seem to like period-authentic equipment & capabilities. I don't think the S would be a welcomed option in that particular realm (certainly not by the hard core folks), and would be too early a model for the more modern day fans. For a larger audience, I just don't see the appeal of the S.
  9. Quite possibly very true, though I wouldn't put the carriage before the horse at this point. At any rate, yeah. If the OV-10 was made (which I wish folks would make as a stop-gap while waiting on ED), I too would love to participate in a Vietnam environment.
  10. Source link From many moons ago, the F-16C was already planned by ED to be made. If that's changed is anyone's guess, but it was on the list.
  11. Thanks for that, unfortunately...
  12. Hey there Tango, Nah, I meant like a -1, though in my quick Google on this aircraft showed there isn't an English speaking country utilizing it. I'll go ahead and wait lol. Nonetheless, thank you & appreciate your (rather quick) reply.
  13. That is one damn good looking plane right there. I wasn't really excited about any other aircraft other than the -18C & the AH-1, but I really like this. It too goes on the list. Looking forward to the release. Edits to add: Anyone have any manuals/links handy for this? I have a sudden itch to do a bit of reading.
  14. A great idea. Though, with the good should also come the bad. Buildings that are designated as "enemy" should also be accompanied by buildings that have citizens in them as well. Blow up/shoot up a friendly build, tsk tsk. But yeah, a really good urban environment with real stresses would be wonderful.
  15. That's only true if we both have the same sized monitors/resolution. The suggestion isn't about trumping things so everyone can see things incredibly far away (which seems to be ED's concern with those with high res settings, and no doubt rightfully so), it's about giving that poor soul with a 20" monitor a (dare I say "realistic") chance to actually see something. You kind of canceled your first statement (which is kind of irrelevant in a desktop simulator) with your third . Sorry, #2 is confusing. Agreed, which is why I personally hate labels. In the same breath, I won't dictate how someone else defines "fun" for themselves. If others enjoy labels, more power to them. Though, to be clear. Your last statement suggests that smart scaling somehow gives someone an overwhelming advantage to pick up an opposing aircraft. It really doesn't. I'm sure you're 100% correct about LODs, at least in regards to seeing aircraft relatively close to yours. Some folks suggest the same regarding object's speed, others have posted to the contrary. I don't mean to dismiss your statement on it (which I'm not, I can certainly appreciate it as a valid point), but it really is a simple difference of opinion.
  16. Heh. Funny when... Even you identified it as "an issue" and suggest patience, yet now you're suggesting opposition? I'll take one of those beers, thanks  I'll do one better and say the percentage is higher than that. Since the actual flying of the jet isn't the topic (it's the visual aspect when you're flying, which a much higher percent CAN say they have "a clue") we'll just forget that one. Instead, I'll offer a much more fitting analogy. It's like the happy sock you use when deployed. Clearly, it's not a real woman, but you would really like it to seem to be as much as possible (even if you're one of the poor unfortunate percentage who lacks the actual personal experience). :) Edits to add: "You" was used generally, not "YOU" as a personal dig (which it could be interpreted as).
  17. It's been about a year since the question was asked, so meh. I would personally love a MEU (SOC). I think a CA amphibious landing against a well defended foe in particular would be insanely fun. Clearly, it would/could have the capability to do the traditional MEU (SOC) missions. So with that in mind, it would need the Gator Navy, of course.
  18. Ohh, I wasn't aware that you guys got rid of your MiGs. It shows you how much I pay attention.
  19. Perhaps for offline flying. For online? No. Have a look at PilotEdge. A guy named Keith Smith owns/runs it (super nice guy). A fantastic podcast with him explaining it all found here. In regards to the topic, I would agree that a Falcon-like ATC would be great.
  20. A shame you should say that, especially coming from the country that hosts .
