When firing a 530D, the target will get an alert since they detect your radar continuously illuminates it. But without firing the missile, if I switch from TWS to STT, will it see the same radar pattern and do a missile alert? This could be useful for making the target go defensive from distances such as 20nm, without wasting a 530D.

How do you map it? Is there any script command allowing to change the radio presets?

Hi, I did open the base and cleaned some mud, which I believe was causing the ring to be slightly tilted when the stick is centered. It seems to have improved, but maybe this is because I unscrewed and rescrewed everything. Do you mean the screws that hold the square box which compress the string? I could use them to slightly recenter the spring tension? Thanks!

Hi, When practicing aerial refuelling, I just noticed a nasty behavior of my T16000m. If I don't grab it, it is properly centered. But, when slightly pushing it up or down with a single finger, barely moving it, the X axis input slightly moves off-center to the left. So it seems that the sensor is slightly off-centered to the left, but the internal hardware applies a small dead zone which is not axis-independent : an action on Y removes the X dead zone as well. It is super annoying as it can't be calibrated properly with the Windows settings, which basically only scales axis. And I can't find any setting in Target. And when the plane is level and I push or pull the stick, it clearly slightly banks left. Is this an inherent lack of precision of these not so expensive joysticks? Is there any way to adjust this inside? Thanks!

Please, in the name of all that is holy, enable dot labels
Galinette replied to Extranajero's topic in Multiplayer
My biggest complaint against VR is the unability to see the attitude of ennemy planes until you are very close. Yes, the dot is bigger and makes it easier to spot from long distance, but it stays a big dot when you get close. If enemy plane dots are too small in 4K, just play in 2K :) -
Are there good servers for doing PvP A2A fights? I have tried "Just Dogfight", it's fun but somewhat limited (Fox2 only, spawn 10nm from the other camp, in the Caucasus plains). Thanks!

Looking for some more BuDs (BUsy DadS) to fly and chat with?
Galinette replied to GTFreeFlyer's topic in Multiplayer
I'd like to join! I'm a busy dad, but available in Europe late evening (when kids sleep) and why not also for some work breaks before they are back from school (I work from home). How to join? -
Realsimulator F-18CGRH is available for preorder
Galinette replied to Supmua's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Is the non-CE version also BLE capable? From their site it's not clear if: - Basic version has BLE for buttons and CE adds gyro axis to BLE - Basic version has no BLE and requires the FSSD to be more than a piece of resin -
Realsimulator F-18CGRH is available for preorder

How does this grip work on a Virpil base if you don't use BLE? It is said you need BLE to use all the extra stuff not included on TM grips (5-way buttons everywhere, etc...) but do you get at least the TM grip features without extra software? -
Hi, I'm looking for a new stick. After discussions and reviews, it seems the Virpil WarBRD is just what I need. However, I don't like their grip designs much, and I would prefer a F-16 model from TM or Realsimulator. They are mechanically compatible, but what about electrical/software compatibility? 1) If I attach a TM F-16 grip on the WarBRD, will all the buttons be recognized from scratch in DCS? Or are they assignable in the Virpil software? I would like to avoid needing both TM and Virpil software at the same time, it's a mess to handle multiple profiles. 2) Same question with the Realsimulator stick. I know this one has BLE support and doesn't even need to communicate via the base, but then you need multiple software and it's a mess. Thanks!

Anyone play DCS on in 2k on a 34"?
Galinette replied to JanK's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
3440x1440 on a RTX2070, it's perfect. Just don't use too much antialiasing. At those high resolutions, AA is pretty much useless, just let 2x MSAA and you are good. -
Do you have any threshold force discontinuity at the center?
-
I had a look to the Virpil site waiting for Christmas. I'm not a fan of any of the sticks layout, they are missing a F18/F16/A10 style grip, others either have way too much buttons & hats (constellation,...) or too few and not well suited to my use (VFX, WarBRD). So I might go for a TM F-16 grip, but how does the base react to the heavyweight grip, especially with the no-center cams? Won't it stay hanging to whatever side I have left it? Realsimulator has nice F-16 grips, but the price is stupidly huge, and they are overfeatured (all buttons as hats is more confusing than anything else, I think). Too bad Virpil doesn't make one, as I'm not necessarily a metal fan (except when it comes to music).

Hi, It's strange, I got awful performance on a server where we were only 5 aircraft total, and it was laggy from the beginning, even before contact with other planes. And it was so laggy that when turning my head, I had black areas visibles where the render could not follow... Regarding server speed, a slow server should not make screen render laggy, but only other planes movement! It more looks like a bug to me, I will make other tries...

Hi, DCS runs very smoothly in VR on my system (RTX2070 - Quest) when playing single player. However, in multiplayer, it stutters so much it's sometime unplayable. Without VR, I have no issue online. Playing online should not impact FPS that much?? Thanks!

Here is a screenshot where I switch from TWS to STT within a few seconds. This time TWS relative speed is off by 230kts... And here is the track file radar-speed-bug.trk

Sorry for that... Maybe this should be in the manual -
Damit, how can they market a high end flight sim stick that has a hard point at the center? I admit this is a feature on space-sim targeted sticks as the T16000 is (you expect a spaceship to flight straight when releasing the grip) but for realistic flight sim ones such as the Warthog, this seems dumb. Is it still annoying with an extension? Thanks for all your tips and links, I will carefully read all and probably start by modding the T16K before anything else. The force sensitive sticks are interesting, but I never had the chance to test one, so I'm reluctant to buy. Unfortunately, all the related fairs have been cancelled this year, so I can't test.

When switching on D²M, it stays blinking forever, and I never had any AA missile detection displayed on screen (radial line as the manual says). On older posts from 2018 and before, it is said that real M2000-C doesn't have it, but it has been implemented in DCS and it's working. What is the current status? -
When following a tanker locked on radar, I noticed the relative speed displayed on the HUD is very different in TWS and STT, by about 50kts. And it seems the TWS one is wrong, because I could maintain -20 displayed while the distance decreased, and relative speed in STT was +30.

Hi, I have a T16000M, and I plan to upgrade to something better later on. It's input is really precise and linear vs stick position, but its weak point is IMHO the springs, which are slightly too strong to my taste and not adjustable, and above all, the extremely non-linear spring force in the center. It takes a significant force to start moving the joystick from the center, in other words if you could draw force vs position curve, there would be a high and steep step in the center. The advantage of this is the stick returns very efficiently to a neutral position, without jiggle. The drawback is it's difficult to control precisely very small movements around the center, such as when refueling. I'd like a joystick where you could continuously move from one end to the other without feeling any discontinuity at the center. 1)Is there a possible mod of the 16000M for avoiding this? 2)How are higher end joysticks such as the Warthog, regarding this? Thanks!

Return from a campaign mission, first to land, taxi and park. Just while I shut down the engine, I hear a loud bang. Damit. I took his spot. -
Hi, Is it possible to assign keyboard controls for the U/VHF controls?(0-9 and VLD, mostly)? These are used a lot in campaigns, and I would like to assign them to my keypad, as it's super painful to click on these in VR. However, I can't find anything in the M2000 controls. Thanks!

Hi, Is it possible to uncage the HUD vector on the M-2000C? For hardcore low-level sharp turns, this would be very useful in order to avoid impacting the ground or climbing too much, as well as for crosswinds landing.

Oculus Quest: Guide to use and optimize USB Link for DCS
Galinette replied to Sporg's topic in Virtual Reality
Hi, I checked some documentation about how the distortion is applied in the Link pipeline. You can read in many places that "Low" is the best setting, however it's more complex than this. The distortion pass has been added before compression on purpose for increasing the pixel density at the center, while decreasing pixel density on the edges. This means it actually improves the perceived image quality for low encoding resolutions. So unless the encoding width is set to something very high, setting distortion on "Low" will decrease perceived quality in the center (and improve in the edges). Is there a rift app for testing perceived resolution? Such as something with resolution scale bars.
