Hopefully my Inateck USB card holds up. It's been giving me issues lately. It says I don't have the power to run the Rift S, then the message goes away and it's fine. Lol Might just buy a Startech so I don't have to worry about it. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk

I was in the same boat as you and figured......it isn't exactly going to be cheaper in 6 days. LOL

I ordered mine from HP since they aren't even shipping theirs until the 21st. They are also only shipping out the new revision. If you buy from another reseller right now, you have no idea if you are getting a new one or older model since you don't know if their stock was pre-existing. Forget that! lol Some think if they just got theirs it must be a new model, but that's not how it works, unfortunately.

There is no comparison. VR is better than using a high resolution TV or a high resolution Ultra-wide monitor (I have both) and use VR in DCS only now. Oculus CV1 was a different story since SDE was so prevalent. SDE is nowhere near the CV1 in the Rift S and I'm guessing nearly non-existent in the Reverb. The idea that TrackIR is better for immersion is, IMO, sort of silly. VR encompasses you. At no time in my VR play history have I ever seen a cat, my wife or kids walk by. haha I was flying an instant mission in my Hornet last night using my Rift S and my stomach sank during a roll while dodging flak. That has never happened in my years of TrackIR use.

Ordered a Reverb today. Should get the new revision next Thursday. Can't wait to see what all the hubbub is about. :)

How is HPs return policy? Is it like Amazon/Best Buy's full refund no questions asked type thing? *EDIT* Looks like HP changed the product pictures on their site. The new picture shows different cable management if my memory serves me correctly.

It's not Amazon, it's a seller that uses Amazon. I'm pretty sure the sellers don't have the same return policy as Amazon itself. Keep that in mind. ;) Personally, after reading the WMR and Reverb Redits, the ONLY 2 sellers I would buy a Reverb from would be Amazon or Best Buy. LOL

If you have a Rift S you can wear glasses with the HMD just fine. It is WAYYYYYYY better than the CV1. I have fairly thick framed glasses ....because I'm modern and edgy......and they fit very easily.

Wasn't the Reverb recalled/partially recalled due to screen issus and that's why Best Buy pulled it (and also why some places have very limited supply with no scheduled replenishments)? If not, why did Best Buy pull it? I was looking to pick one up and try it out...but no way I'm getting one without a Amazon/Best Buy level return policy. :/

Picked up my Rift S a few days ago (Saturday). Spent all of Saturday a most of Sunday battling USB and Sensor issues. Ended up having to reinstall Windows to get it to work. Fml what a PITA this Rift S install went. Having said that, once I got it finally working I was quite suprised. The clarity is definitely an improvement over the CV1. Gauges are now much more readable. I can fly the Tomcat from the cockpit without struggling to see things. A great boost to the immersion. Its also nice being able to wear the HMD with glasses and not have it be a huge struggle or require some expensive lens attachment. There are a few technical issues though that I have noticed over the CV1 Looking left to right quickly seems to cause a slight lag in the display (eg, the picture moves slightly after you turn your head), second, "jitter" is noticable at times and third, there is a slight difference in FOV from the CV1. The lag in the display and jitter could be caused by system though since it's quite dated. Overall, I'm really impressed. I'm building my son a pc and going to give him my CV1. He wants to learn DCS and fly backseat on the F14 :) *Side Question* How do you get the sound to work? I have yet to figure it out. No matter what the settings I can't hear anything from the headset. :/
