  1. AFAIK, those cockpit views are not the actual distance from where a pilot sits. At least they definitely weren't with regards to the Cessnas/Pipers I was learning to fly on. They were designed to just familiarize toy with the cockpit, the actual view you would see while flying was a lot closer. But maybe it is different for military aircraft? I use an IPD of 64/65 in the F14 and it feels VERY similar to the view distance I saw in the Tornado I sat in. That's all I have to go off of.
  2. Do you have experience with both, sperately...ie how do they feel compared to one another? Thanks, Buzz!
  3. How much of a difference did was there with the sahaj's Green Springs vs Stock? Looking at either the Green Spring or his 7.5cm Extension. I have an Obutto though so the extension may be a little high.
  4. Ohh, ok perfect. I actually have a spare TMWH base that doesn't work :)
  5. Nope, he just twisted it like you would a stick with a twist grip and SNAP. Of course, the WH grip does not utilize decent material for the collar and the stick was bought close to release. It lasted a LONG time. Still though, it's a little silly that the cheapest material is put in the areas with the most force applied. lol
  6. I'd use a an extension but I have an Obutto cockpit with a TM Mount. An extension would put the stick a little high I think. :/
  7. Would you happen to have a part number for those springs by chance? Thanks!
  8. Walmart was selling the WH + Throttle for $300 this weekend. Lol
  9. I think most of us know how to install a WH stick. Lol :) My little boy twisted the stick and it snapped. He wasn't touching the collar mechanism at all and he isn't a child bodybuilder. It'd be akin to a spiral fracture in a bone. Love the stick, but the collar area is a POS. Haha
  10. Yeah its a little disheartening how he was treated. I think I've been part of this community since dirt was new and it's always unfortunate when somebody gets treated like that. To the OP; ignore it. Regarding the part, you know what it reminds me of? That cheap die cast metal that they used to make those little hot wheels cars out of. If it isn't, it's definitely some type of softer metal. To me, it seems like the "weakest part" structurally of the stick. A stronger clamping mechanism sure would be nice.
  11. Got mine as well. Love the solid feeling. Only thing that may take getting used to is the two stage trigger. It's definitely more "clicky" (is that a description? lol). Not sure why, but it feels a lot better than my WH and Cougar.
  12. Actually, he's spot on. My 8 yr old son broke mine by accident. Looks exactly like that. My son twisted the stick while he was playing (sitting in my cockpit seat) and it sheared the stick right away from the metal. And no, he doesn't have metal vice grips as hands. Lol
  13. Geez....I've been holding off buying the F-14 and now I'm on the purchase page after reading this thread. Screw you guys.
  14. You might want to post this in the Heatblur: F-14 section below :) Much better chance of getting a response.
  15. lolwut? The A10 stick and F18 stick are nothing alike. lol
  16. I honestly don't see the F-16 module being as popular as the F-14. With an F-16 simulation (a VERY good one at that) already being around for so long, a DCS module doesn't offer anything really new or exciting to the genre. Not to mention, the other one has a dynamic campaign to go with it (a very good one at that). lol
  17. I still run 12gb of RAM with my Occulus. Having said that, I don't run crazy missions with 100's of ground units. lol
  18. I would have to disagree with you there, it isn't that simple. We are limited by VR technology, not textures. For reference, go play FSX/P3D in VR. Good Lord...it's horrid. I think a lot of folks saying DCS/DCS Modules need to be optimized for VR have probably not seen a non-VR optimized flight sim. It is truly.....bad.
  19. Not sure what you mean by "unrealistic". I was in the Sea Cadets at Miramar NAS back in the day (late 80's). Our clubhouse/meeting building was about 50 ft from the F-14 Parking area so we naturally got to go see the Tomcats all the time. The interiors were always quite clean. They were worn, as in used, but definitely not dirty/corroded (the Panavia Tornado I sat in one time was the same way). Additionally, I had a buddy at Travis AFB who was a Squadron Commander of a C-5 unit. He used to carry a microfiber cloth around with him for the displays/gauges in aircraft. I got to sit in a few of those and they were almost spotless. Lastly, I met a few Crew Chiefs while I was in the Sea Cadets, and I think if their airplanes were as dirty as this inside they would have had a conniption. LOL While weathering is one thing (paint worn off/chips/etc..), dirt and corrosion was something completely different in the aircraft I sat in. :)
  20. I call this feature, "RIO - AI Kids". They just show up announced and stare at you.
  21. I run 12gb of RAM as well ( I went from 6 to 12). There are 2 things that I noticed GREATLY improved my game loading/performance: 1. Moving from a GTX 280 to a 1070 Ti 2. Moving from a traditional HDD to an SDD I have NO issues with textures loading in at all now and I play in 4K Ultrawide. The SSD helped a HUGE amount in loading times and the 1070 Ti greatly improved performance. The 12gb of RAM has seemed fine so far.
  22. My lifted F150 with 35" tires doesn't get as good of gas mileage as my Honda Civic. Please fix.
