  1. Framework v9.avi Pretty much there with the detail design now and I have all the parts I need for assembly.
  2. Cheers, those renderings you found unlocked this for me to continue!
  3. I'm pretty happy with the draft grip print, so I'm in process of eating the elephant. The detail design work on this is was more complicated than I had anticipated. I have split the grip into three sections, one of which is printing now and should be ready tomorrow. I need to finish the detail on the "head" of the grip with the other switches. While I have been working on this, to have a bit of break, I've been working on the friction mechanism. I have mocked up the quadrant with the bearings and geometry I intend on using, but while the dimensional tolerance is good, I'm going to have to do some work to fine tune the friction. I hope the method I use is going to be effective. Here is a glimpse of some of the structure. It's hard to describe what I have in mind, so I will just share more photos when I'm there.
  4. I'm making a dedicated thread on a throttle nozzle quadrant build that I'm working on. This is something that started a while ago with a pretty detailed design effort that was put on hold for two reasons: 1. my 3D printer was having issues that needed to be investigated, and 2. designing the throttle grip was quickly determined to be too difficult based on the information I had at the time. Since then I have bought a new 3d printer and the old one has now been stripped down for parts for the quadrant. I have also stumbled across several excellent photos from @mattjonesgr9 that were posted on a UFC build thread. This is now enough, along with a short break in work travel madness, to allow me to hit this project hard again. I'm hoping I can keep enough momentum to get a working prototype finished in a few weeks. These are the original renderings of the quadrant enclosure assembly: I did manage to print out this first grip effort, but it was so far off the mark, I didn't know where to start. Since then I have come up with this design for the shell: Whilst not perfect, for a solid body, it's close enough. I've also scaled down the component by a factor of 0.9 as the printed version felt a tad too big for an ungloved hand. This first prototype won't be made of sheet metal as originally planned, but will be assembled from 2020 extruded aluminium and 3D printed parts. I will also be using a hall effect sensor for each of the three rotating axis instead of potentiometers.
  5. Without question this is the most frustrating and regrettable things I've ever attempted. It's close-ish and I've already thrown away several previous attempts, but I think I'm ready to 3D print and see how it feels.
  6. I'm going to severely regret finding these...
  7. I do expect to see it, and I have no expectations on when.
  8. I find that system-induced pitch oscillations can occur when the altitude is engaged if one or both of the following are true: - the aircraft is not already perfectly trimmed. - airspeed is greater than 200kph.
  9. I've been reading through "No Escape Zone" by Nick Richardson where he talks about the FRS.1 being used in the Bosnia theatre and there is a section on how the F95 camera was used during reconnaissance missions of SA-6 sites by simply lining up a chinagraph mark on the canopy with the target off to the right. This got me thinking, will this be implemented when we see the jet in DCS? I guess if you wanted to be really authentic, you could have the images only available 4 hours after landing!
  10. Can confirm, having the same issue here; also a problem with the 476 vFG mods. I did find that if I made a copy of the fake_omni_lights2.fx and renamed it to fake_omni_lights.fx (there is a second file you need to this to, though I can't recall which right now) the message suppressed. I don't know if there were any knock-on issues with doing that, however.
  11. Hi Thrawn, Sorry for not replying earlier, didn't see this until just now. I don't believe QNLZ is openly available yet. The model has been commissioned by a member of our wing and is continuously being developed.
  12. Yes, I'm Ex WAFU. We have a high proportion of civilian and commercial pilots, and one of sister squadrons on the wing has an Ex-Tornado GR pilot as the OC.
  13. UPDATE We're still after one or two more Harrier pilots. Here's an example of some of the combined operations we get up to.
  14. 801 Naval Air Squadron currently has a couple of openings for harrier pilots. We are looking for dedicated pilots who can integrate well with a close-knit group. Our squadron operates on private servers and has early access to the HMS Queen Elizabeth mod, so if you're looking to be at the cutting edge of Naval VSTOL operations, put an application in. We're part of a Joint Strike Wing operating alongside 809 NAS (Hornet), 892 (Hornet) NAS, and 11 Sqn RAF (Viper). We run our weekly squadron operations at 2030 GMT each Saturday, and we have optional mission nights at the same time on Wednesdays. We're currently engaged in COIN tasking around the South Ossetia border and Gori and we've forward deployed 4 aircraft from QNLZ to a temporary camp in the region. Any new joiners who can quickly get themselves operational will be given priority. If you are interested: 1. Fill in the following application here, 2. Join us on Discord and introduce yourself here If you need some inspiration, take a look at some footage from 801 NAS joining QNLZ for the first time (Harrier in the pattern at 9:00): Looking forward to hearing from some of you!
