  1. Yeah I do and that seems to be the only way to somewhat control the plane during taxi but that doesn't resolve the controlling during takeoff...
  2. Oh cool... then it’s a no brainer :)
  3. I was watching his tutorials... I will probably use his framework. Object oriented programming is so much nicer so really good he build such a framework.
  4. I always seem to struggle in controlling the P51 during taxi and takeoff/landing. For some reason I can't steer the darn thing... I can't seem to be able to make gentle corrections. Small amounts of rudder pedal don't seem to do much and to much, all of a sudden the planes seems to start spinning. This is especially the case when I push the yoke forward to make the wheel more steerable but even than, small amounts of rudder don't seem to do much and the only thing I seem to be able to do is make the plane spin around its own axes a couple of times... During takeoff it's the same... If I put a lot of rudder pedal in it, that action usually doesn't seem to translate into direction change in the plane. One of the first missions in the campaign is takeofff and land with a 10 m/s crosswind. That's around 20 knots and my plane just goes off the runway during takeoff, no matter how much rudder pedal I put into it... What am I doing wrong?
  5. The KA looks amazing but one thing that will hold me back is that the cockpit is russian and I can't understand that... This means learning everything by heart.... Even now in the Huey, I rely a lot on what is printed in the cockpit...
  6. oh great. Can you link to the mission? I'm playing through the campaign at the moment and starting to get a hang of the landings :)
  7. Ok, that easy :) Thanks!
  8. I want to learn some scripting myself and for that, I want to see how other missions are implemented so when I have a mission that uses LUA scripts, can I somehow see those scripts? I'm referring to the action where you can select a LUA script and now where you can directly enter the LUA in the textbox... These are missions I got from other people and not the default missions that come with modules... I assume these scripts are embedded in the mission file but I want to read them so I can see how certain things are done...
  9. Do you currently use a VR headset? I pre ordered the G2 as well but I'm using the rift cv1 at the moment. I never monitored my VRAM but will do tomorrow... I have a 2080ti but never thought it would be an issue... I did some tests by setting the pixel density on my VR to 2. This simulates the amount of pixels that the G2 has and tried a few things with the settings. I disabled MSAA and Anisotropic filtering is set to 4x. Clutter/grass and Trees visibility could be higher. I didn't notice a big FPS drop when I moved those up. If I'm not mistaken, the preload radius is what is causing the VRAM to go up? If you are hitting VRAM limits, try lowering that but I'm nut 100% sure if that's true... someone has to confirm this... Water to medium also has a big-ish impact on FPS.
  10. Thanks for the info. I went with the Huey this weekend and already have around 8 hours of flight on it. Practice goes rather well except for hovering... That still requires some practice . Just did my first campaign mission for the Huey. Wasn't expecting such a long mission... Took me almost 90 min but used those 90 min to practice trimming the Huey. At the end she could fly almost by herself with me just a very gentle touch of the joystick :) The KA looks great as well. Could also be a nice step stone to the jets as the weapons and systems of the KA are more complex than on the Huey and probably resembles more the complexity of the modern jets.
  11. Weird... Problem seem to resolved itself after around 30 min...
  12. Everything was working fine but now, from one hour to another, when I start DCS, the "Get Steam authorization data" takes longer and fails. DCS seems to start in offline mode as all my DLC from steam is disabled... A few hours ago, it was working fine and I didn't install/change anything. Looking at the logs, here's what I see: Which is very odd as I have purchased the WWII pack... I've attached the full .log file as well.... dcs.log
  13. great thx :) Oh man, all this flying helicopters made me watch Airwolf again :)
  14. oh darn... don't like bugs :) I am planning to get into the campaign but first want to understand some other systems better like navigation and comms. Haven't touched those yet...
  15. I am learning the Huey and started to get into combat. I am trying to let my Co pilot do the shooting so I can focus on flying but he won't shoot... I tried with both "Return Fire" and just "Fire" and when I sit in his seat, the flexible sight is down and working and I can fire so I think everything is setup right in the cockpit.... Weapons armed and so on. I tried flying to an enemy and he was firing at me but the co pilot didn't do anything... At first I thought I was to far away but when I was really close he didn't do anything either so I ended up dead... What could be the reason for this? And one additional question... When you do combat missions with the Huey, do you ever fire yourself or do you leave that always up to the co pilot so you can focus on flying?
  16. I started with the WWII pack and have the normandy map/ canal map on my whishlist. The WWII pack is great, especially if you're enjoying making your own missions. That was the main reason why I got it. Although I'm flying on the default map, now I can at least create missions with time accurate units. That can be extended with the map. If you're after time accurate missions, yeah they are worth it. But that's my opinion :)
  17. I did try now a few times without using aileron trim and trimmed with rudder instead. Seems to work fine. I initially didn't understand that the right wing drop could be countered by rudder. My initial instinct was to use aileron.
  18. Yes, figured that part :) But thanks for the tip.
  19. ok great managed to make it work :)
  20. I tried but can't seem to find the proper key command to fly around properly. I see only zoom in normal and zoom but that's not really useful...
  21. If you want to downscale VR, you need to go to the VR tab and set the pixel density. 1 means native reolution of the headset, < 1 is downscaling and should improve performance, > 1 is upscaling
  22. And right wing drop? Fuel imbalance? So in that case, aileron trim would be useful while the fuel balances out?
  23. How can I easily explore a map to find suitable spots for a mission? For example I want to create a mission where the enemy has a hidden base in the mountains. Therefore I need to find a suitable spot but flying around the map is slow... is there a better way?
  24. Yes so it seems the training mission is broke... if I do it in my own mission, it’s working fine but I have to flip switch nr 1. This isn’t mentioned in the training mission and even if I do so, nothing happens... oh well, I’ll read the manual and some YT videos on how to use the aim properly.
  25. I just started flying the Huey so I started with the training missions. At one point in the weapons training mission, he asks me to press "M"to enable the flexible sight which should allow me to aim... But nothing happens when I press M... I mapped the "Flexible sight toggle" to my joystick and nothing happens as well... I tried all kinds of buttons first, for example enable the toggle at the back of the sight but that doesn't do much either... My weapons are armed (or in safe) so light is red (or green) and I have selected the rockets but no matter what happens, I don't see anything on the sight display... Because of this, the mission won't continue either... I can take off and shoot and so on but I can't enable that sight which makes it difficult to aim... I also tried this in my own mission where I set the heli warm on the runway but I have the same issue...
