  1. x264 and 1280x720 (=720p).
  2. There also seems to be some kind of problem related to antialiasing with ATI and Windows XP. Would love to hear if someone actually has working AA with WinXP and ATI.
  3. 404. Google cache luckly has the article but no images :(
  4. I at least can't find the option to make per-application settings in CCC/ATT, I doubt ATi drivers have such capabilities. The settings I'm changing are global, they should affect every single one application. I'm quite certain that this is some kind of bug or incompatibility between DCS engine and ATi. The strangest thing is that "workaround" which I posted proves that the slider/checkbox I'm adjusting actually affects dcs.exe, but it[dcs.exe] gets somehow confused if AA is set on the loading/initialization phase. or something. As this "bug" does clearly not affect every ATi owner here, I think we should try to find the differences in our setup which could trigger misbehavior. Judging on goldfingers screenshot, he has Vista, and connos has Vista too. They both apparently have working AA. Maybe its XP causing trouble? kren_77 and I are running XP and have trouble with AA. Any WinXP/ATi owners input would be valuable now. Anyways I think ED should look into this, and at least give their insight, maybe even fix code if necessary in upcoming patch.
  5. shameless bump. ED please help...
  6. I'm using the global force thing, never bothered with profiles. I actually managed to get AA on with following procedure: - Check 'Use application settings' box in CCC before launching DCS - Start mission - Alt-tab to CCC - Uncheck 'Use application settings' and set AA - Press Apply - Alt-tab back to DCS If AA is forced before launching mission this trick doesn't work. There must be easier, more reliable way of doing this.
  7. So how do I get antialiasing with DCS? I have already enabled(=forced) AA on in Catalyst Control Center, and tried using Ati Tray Tools. Even upgraded my drivers to latest version. Still non-antialiased :( I'm using Windows XP SP3 and ATi Radeon HD4850 with Catalyst 9.4 drivers. Any ideas? :helpsmilie:
  8. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=41170 patch IS coming :O
  9. you might wonder whats so special about this picture. well actually nothing, but its my first Vikhr kill :smartass:
  10. seems interesting. Could you attach the pdf to your post or something, rapidshare isn't working here.
  11. Our government has finally in their great wisdom allocated money to "upgrade"(un-downgrade) our F-18 Hornets to include among other stuff Air-to-Ground-capabilities. Now I'm wondering what they are actually buying. Official announcement only vaguely mentions 'long range air to ground weaponry', which isn't very informative. My best guess(hope?) would be JASSM, but as I browsed Wikipedia I saw some other alternatives too; SLAM-ER and JSOW-ER? So I ask from you: How do these different AGM-systems compare, and what do you guess we are getting? All other discussion about (long range) AGM's is welcome too, comparisons to foreign systems etcetc. In case you didn't guess; the country in question is Finland. edit: Bonus question: what kind of targets would these weapons have when used strictly defensively? (Air)bases? Long range air defenses? Something other?
  12. What online stores do/will carry the manual? Amazon.co.uk atleast, others? Preferably one with english boxed dvd game too.
  13. seeing that dcsmax seems to be extremly useful little utility, has ED considered including and integrating it to future DCS modules?
  14. So what alternatives is ED currently considering as 3. module, if Apache is not done? Su-25T?
  15. sounds promising for lofc/dcs
  16. ...and friends. You never fly alone :)
  17. x264 is modern high-quality encoder. It's bit slower than Xvid though. Wouldnt recommend other (free) encoders.
  18. +1 Making two-player coop-variants of most missions should not be much trouble, and atleast me and a friend of mine would appreciate. This is one area that original LockOn was lacking, there just isn't lot of play as two player coop
  19. just remember that you need to think in russian
  20. btw any hopes for getting pics from new engine anytime soon? would love to see something crash into trees :)
  21. I got an idea for another approach for dynamic campaign. Everyone is thinking a campaign as a series of missions. But what if we got a working in-game saving-system? We could make one huge mission which would be easier to make more dynamic with triggers etc. This single mission would contain several 'sub-missions' which would replace missions in conventional campaign. Online play would have more MMO-feeling when single game could last days/weeks, people coming and going. The largest problem with this imho could be the generation and viewing mission (de-)briefings, and selecting new missions. This would obviously need modifications to the game itself. Another problem would be performance, if a whole mapful of units is required whole time, doing whatever they do. That would probably mean atleast hundreds if not thousands of units at a time. This was just an idea, nothing that I except to be realistic nor implemented.
  22. Check out Mumble, a free(as in speech and beer) alternative for teamspeak. Should have better sound quality and no artificial limitations. Havent tested it myself, as my friends are bit resistant for change :( I even recall someone from ED saying that they considered integrating Mumble to DCS or something like that.
  23. there is a euro boxed release date? :O well its nice to have a date, but I would prefer sooner :)
  24. well, the results tell otherwise. maybe that applies to d3d10 apps?
  25. I'd suspect that the problem lies in Creatives crappy drivers
