ShopBLT - More TM Warthogs on the way!
RSharpe replied to JG27_Arklight's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Even if it does operate like a back alley operation? What good is the information if it's incorrect anyhow? -
Just curious, why are you running 4 gigs of RAM with an i7 920? Why not take advantage of triple channel of a X58 motherboard. I'm still waiting on my HOTAS so I haven't ordered DCS A-10C yet. I'm running a i7 @4.00ghz and 6GB of RAM at 1600mhz with a 5850 running stock clocks. I'm guessing I'll be ok at 1920x1200 but I'm still not sure what to go with when I start running 3 1920x1200 monitors. None of the current video cards seem to fit the bill as of yet.

Car dealerships used to do this kind of thing for certain models of cars a few years ago when the economy was still good. 1) Advertise a very low hard to believe price 2) Take order, promise a delivery time 3) delay order one or several times 4) call the client one day explaining how hard the car was to get but that they finally got it. However, the car would cost X% more due to the rarity and demand for the model. 5) customer pays what the dealer is asking for after waiting weeks or months for something they expected to get. -

How much was the original price? It's now $515.75. I'm glad I didn't place an order with these guys and have gone somewhere else. -
Where to buy HOTAS Warthog in Australia?
RSharpe replied to deltatango's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
We have the same problem in Canada. Right now, it's impossible to find, other than that one place in the US which seems to be taking loads of pre-orders. It's unclear as to when they'll actually be able to fulfill the orders. In Canada we would pay close to $100 for shipping alone even though in some places we're closer than many continental US addresses. -

I'm wondering if they'll actually be able to fulfill these orders. Is this number that they have the number they've ordered from Thrustmaster? Or the number that Thrustmaster has promised them? It would suck to be sit there backordered for weeks because the stock is being divided more evenly across retailers when it's finally shipped. -
Is anyone running DCS A-10C on three 1920x1200 monitors? I'm guessing a single 5850 might not be sufficient.

TM Warthog for sale in Canada?
RSharpe replied to rweaves6's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I asked that site about plans to sell the Warthog HOTAS, and they said they had no firm plans to do so. -
Man. All you ever do is moan and whinge. Work on upgrading that wife first and I bet you'll be in a happier place and will save us all a lot of your online grief. Or you can tuck away a few bucks each month and afford a GTX 460 in no time. If you wait a few months for when the new ATI cards come out, I bet you'll be able to find a lot of used cards for sale on eBay at really affordable prices.

Has anyone been able to find a retailer in Canada that will be selling these?

Project 10 - DCS: A-10C Warthog Promo!
RSharpe replied to Glowing_Amraam's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
Just curious, what kind of hardware is being used to drive this version of DCS, and are there any post-effects being done after the video capture? -
Their shipping to Canada is something like $100... so it's probably worth looking around some more or waiting.
-
The problem isn't size, it's pixels and definition.
-
I guess so. It's nearly $100 shipping. I don't think I can justify that :(
-
Is this place legit? Shipping is massive to Canada :(

So everyone is using single cards with Eyefinity and no one is using multiple Crossfire with it?
-
I currently have a i7 920 clocked to 4.0ghz, and a ATI HD5850. I really want to set up a 3 monitor 1920x1200 Eyefinity setup for DCS A-10, but I'm not sure my card will have the horsepower to power that many pixels (5760x1200?) I'm thinking of getting another HD5850 and running the two cards in Crossfire mode, but I've heard that people aren't getting problematic, or aren't getting the best results. Has anyone tried this, and have any comments or suggestions? Thanks.

I really hope the game gets Steam distribution so that patching is kept as simple and automated as possible as DCS is constantly evolving.
-
I'm not sure we got a proper response from the other thread, but will the sim be released at the same time as the downloadable game for those of us who prefer purchasing through Steam? Thanks
-
I'm running a i7 920 with 6gb of RAM and oc'ed to 3.5ghz and a ATI HD 5850. Does anyone know if it might have any problems running DCS in 5760 x 1200 (Eyefinity)?
-
Unlike Starforce, Steam's DRM is not intrusive, and it doesn't break things. At least I haven't had any problems in the 4 years I've been using it. Downloading at 1.5 MB/s and having the thing keep your games up to date with the most recent patches (if you want to) is also great. It's also nice that every time I reinstall my system, I don't have to run around looking for discs. The worst thing about Steam are games that require a second layer of DRM with limited activations and deactivations (Starforce). What's the point of that?!
-
I really hope they push the flight controls out a few months before the sim comes out so that it will give people the opportunity acquire the hardware before the game's release. Doubtless this would also give Thrustmaster's manufacturing capacity time to meet production demands. People can enjoy the stick on other games before DCS A-10C comes out... but I don't think anyone who will get the stick would want to play the game with anything else from the first time they run the game.

Thanks guys. I've made my decision to hold tight and wait it out and just do things right from the start :)

From the Naturalpoint forums. http://forum.naturalpoint.com/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=41925#Post41925 It appears there is a workaround, but the incompatibility problem is making hesitate for now. I'm running Catalyst 10.6 at the moment.

Oh yes. I plan on getting that. Unfortunately, TrackIR5 doesn't seem to be working with ATI drivers at the moment, and I just got a new HD5850 :(. Hopefully they'll resolve that problem soon or I may get rid of it for some sort of Nvidia card.
