  1. I have co workers who play Battlefield 3 on the PS3. We have a blast but I wish I could get them in these sims. The problem with my buddies is that they don't have the patience to learn it. One of them cant even fly in BF3! I flew before with a squadron but my work takes me away at months at a time so its hard to keep that connection. But you are right, Multiplayer is where its at.
  2. The only advice I could give you is not to stay in one spot firing off your missiles. I the fix wings are around they will see the fire and smoke and start looking for you. If they find you well....Oh and dont pop flares willy nilly too. Again Im a noob at these sims but those were the lessons I learned.

  6. I've been messing around creating a joint A-10C and BS multiplayer mission and have stumbled over a possible bug with my Georgian FARP. My Georgian FARP had all required structure plus eastern vehicles required to refuel, rearm, ATC ect. Everything works except for the rearming portion. All I would get in response was "cannot comply". What I discovered was in order for me to get a Georgian KA-50 rearmed at a Georgian FARP was to park a US M818 on the FARP, next to all the other Georgian equipment. Once I did this, bingo! Everything works now. So, hopes this helps anyone who may have ran across this issue in one of their missions
  7. As far as ground troops, in real life they use a system called FBCB2. It allows ground vehicles equiped with it to see where other friendly units are as well as enemy. For example, if you were a tank commander and spotted a enemy tank you can send a report via the FBCB2. This information will populate other friendly vehicles's displays with an enemy icon and other relative information. This sharing is not real time but "near" real time and i am not sure if the airforce uses the same systems in their planes.
  8. I did not know Garmin made the GPS antenna for the KA-50, has anyone else notice this? I wonder is there any other well known brands in the bird.
  9. Just my take is yes get it. Its still the most realistic heli sim out there. You can fly coop with A10. The ME has been improved and yes we should support ED. There isnt many sim developers out there and as long as they put out quality products with support I will buy.

Just my take on the original question....Yes if the mission designer pits you in a KA-50 against fast movers, you would be at a disadvantage. This is due to DCS BS's realism, not LOMAC's level of realism. A good example of this is in ARMAII. KA-50 pwns fast movers left and right due to the lower realism settings for vikhrs. Fast , beyond line of site lock on via tab key = dead flyboys. In DCS BS you cannot simply "lock" a target via tab key so your job is much much harder. On the mission design side, someone mentioned the BS being on the lower end of the food chain. This is a good point but I like to design missions with the chain being more a circle of life. Jets eat sharks, sams eat jets, sharks eat sams (if done right). By forcing the players to rely on each other for mutual survival on the battlefield makes for a more enjoyable experience in my opinion.
  11. I wouldn't bother with a 3 channel heli. If you want to have fun you need to go with a 6 channel and up. Do some 3d flying.
  12. I've started using the ABRIS for plotting targets from Bullseye. If it's a way off I go ahead and punch it up as a TGT in the PVI and let the autopilot fly me 3/4 the way there. I'm still not sure what the sub-mode, with all of the different colored squares, is used for though...
  13. Im having trouble getting a unit to behave the way I want it to. I am trying to get a flight of MIGs to take off from an airbase AFTER the destruction of a SAM site. In the trigger editor I used "Once, Unit destroyed / SAM Site, Activate Unit MIG". When I run the mission the flight of MIG takes off immediatly. Any ideas what I am doing wrong here???:helpsmilie:
