+1 No idea why the existing ones haven’t been added yet. A WP Zuni would be great too. But that’d be a new addition.

So can anyone confirm that the short Lau-131 is legal and technically capable as far as APKWS is concerned. If so then totally fine. It’s just I’m struggling to find any pictures of A10’s or indeed any fast jet with the short pod + APKWS combo. I’m more than willing to be pointed in the right direction.
-
Yep, right after they’ve done the CAS page I expect. :smilewink:
-
hmmm...ok. What's an extended launcher? A Lau-131 with an extension modification with APKWS specifically in mind? Shouldn't our model have that as well? Is this something we'll likely see? I'm going to feel self conscious flying around with my rockets poking out. (Edit: Sparkchaser provides the answer.)
-
Not to pick holes in a product before it's been released but I've noticed in the pre-release stuff that APKWS rockets seem too protrude a lot (too much?) from the launcher pods. In all of the external shots and an internal one from Wag's latest video the rockets themselves seem to stick out of the pod alot more than the reference photos. Possibly the M282 warhead makes a longer rocket but Wags had a mix of the M251 and 282 and they all stick out the same amount as seen on exterior shots. Please see photos attached. Is this still WIP? Makes it look a bit odd.

I've had the crash when creating a Markpoint. So could very well be a wonky coordinates issue.

No, the TTI is currently bugged and is not showing for LGBs, Unguided bombs, and Rockets. The fields on the HUD and TGP page are blank where the times should be shown. LGBs will still hit correctly if you manually lase after drop, but you'll have no time to impact calculated or shown. Skypickle was just doing this. It was reported as 'internally reported' by a closed beta tester. Hopefully it gets fixed ready for next week and A10C II. On the plus side, IAM and Maverick TTI's are still shown and seem much more accurate now compared to the actual impact. Before, these weapons were way out on the TTI.
-
There’s a bug with time to release and time to impact for dumb bombs, LGBs and rockets. No TTR/TTI times are calculated with these weapons. Autolase can’t work when no TTI is being calculated. It’s been reported apparently, hopefully a fix is coming soon.

Yeah, this is an interesting one. Sorely needed but I’m not sure of the real capability. Link 16 obviously has the ability to share some kind of A2G information. The ‘Transmit Designation’ or TXDSG option on the SA page is used for this. But is this a one time transmission of a specific target or markpoint... or is it a continuous transmission of TGT rather like the SPI transmission in the A10? The first option offers more control and a more permanent way to store datalink received targets. I’m not sure the Hornet could share AG information pre-link 16. Unlike the F-16 for example that had its IDM for years prior to Link 16.

Unbox/Deselect your current SEQ. Use WP decrement arrows to scroll down through M9-1, to reach desired Markpoint.

[CHANGED LOGIC] TPOD TDC mode to HTS mode causes CTD
AvroLanc replied to AvroLanc's topic in Resolved Bugs
I think it’s the combo of JDAM and switching HTS. But I need to test further. Trk files impossible when you have a straight CTD...aren’t they? Or am I missing something? -
[CHANGED LOGIC] TPOD TDC mode to HTS mode causes CTD
AvroLanc replied to AvroLanc's topic in Resolved Bugs
I didn't do a cold start. Not related I think. -
It may be related to the JDAM crashes, but after I had successfully droped a GBU-32, I tried the double press castle switch depress to change TPOD from TDC to HTS mode. It caused immediate CTD. Not sure how to log this without track.
-
Will we ever see more advanced and realistic terminal attack options for JDAM? Obviously they all have the ability to set attack impact azimuth, impact angle and impact velocity. This should....one day...sigh....make it's way to the Hornet, but will A10C II be similarly upgraded? It's clear that JDAM on the A10 has been very much simplified since 2010, and it appears even the new GBU-54 has been artificially limited somewhat compared to real life. Is this a possibility? Is ED limited by the terms and scope of whatever agreement they had to expand the Warthogs commercial version? Compare JDAM in A10 to the eventual F/A-18 implementation and there's obvious gaps.
-
Agreed as well, but we’ve been here before. ED are adamant that HUD des works only in AUTO bombing mode. It probably needs definitive documentation or a compelling SME intervention.
-
That’s the problem, neither version represents a specific suite. That’s ok I guess, but the old one is a mix of 3 and 5, while not feature complete to either. The new A10 has elements of suite 5 and probably 7? When did APKWS get added?
-
It does, but I think it’s lost on ED. There appears to be no additions to the TAD or SADL in feature lost. Big lost opportunity if you ask me. Not sure why at least pre-planned threats on TAD couldn’t at least make it in. Or maybe TDL markpoints.
-
We do, but one thing I'd like is the '-131' 7 round pods. These are much more commonly used for the Viper, judging by the documentary evidence. Two 7 round pods on a TER, with WP, is a pretty common loudout, particularly for the FAC(A) role.
-
There’s no way to tell properly without a screen shot or a track.
-
It's for JDAM PP mode. 'Time on Target - Pre-Planned' You need to enter a PP point for the JDAM.
-
Thanks for confirmation. I’m sure I’m not the only simmer who enjoys multiple options, although I understand the technical sensitivities involved. Especially when the gameplay differences might be minimal. I guess we’ll wait for a rumoured ED Apache, then we might get a RF ‘L’ version.
-
Has there been indication about the specific types of Hellfire variants to be modeled? I'm guessing SAL 2 K's will be the primary. Any chance of the M (blast frag) and N (MAC) warhead types? Older SAL 1 Hellfires? A's or B's?
-
It’s ok, we’re on the same side. Freefall AUTO mode doesn’t feature a loft cue at all really, it’s just the 5 sec drop cue. If you pulled then it would be the shortest loft in history. The proper loft cue (ok, same symbol) should happen about 20 secs earlier. I think the JDAM HSI loft cue is a guide for max loft range. The bombs autopilot and DLZ will take care of the rest. Although, as you know, the procedures in the RL manual don’t recommend it’s use.
-
Well currently there arn't really any loft cues available for free fall bombs. Sure, you can loft (or toss as it should be termed), but you kind of have to approximate a pull up point since it's not calculated or displayed in our version yet. JDAM loft (maybe toss, two different things), is possible, and will come with a later update. A loft pull up cue will appear on the HSI. Don't try it yet though, I don't think the JDAM autopilot has been tweaked to work with that kind of maneuver yet. At least, my attempts usually fail. (LOFT = pull up and release in climb with 1G. TOSS = pull up and release in climb with G, typically 4-5G)
